Looks like your info is outdated.

Originally PoE and PoE 2 were going to be running on the same client and servers BUT that changed, PoE2 is now a separate game with separate servers, the only thing that will carry over are MTX assuming they can be used in PoE2.

FYI this was announced at the last exilecon and has been about as public as it can be.
