Who here would be willing to forego a whole expansion just to get a AH like WoW has?
nooo trade needs to be like diablo in 1999 on a lan party

" Stop it, this makes too much sense. Still play SSF on my main account :)

AH is probably the 2nd worst idea for poe imo the only worse idea would be doing something like what league of legends is going to do by installing anti cheat softwear on your pc. That crap barely even works and bricks some peoples ability to play the game even if they aren't using a cheat softwear like mac users or linix ect...

Why can't people just look at the concept of what I am trying to pitch instead of butchering me becuase I don't explain it perfectly. I SAID ***LIKE*** as in something similar, not an exact clone. Ya something that fits this game that allows people to offline trade.
Why should anyone bother to pitch new ideas when all they get to face is the love of hell trolls who butcher them without any degree of thought or respect.
" Because your suggestion is brought up twice a week by different people and it's been like that for a decade. People are simply annoyed by it and recite the same nonsensical arguments over and over to "counter" it. Personally i'd prefer a removal of trade all together and then balancing the game around it not being there but if i have to pick between the current bot infested inconvienient mess and a bot infested convienient mess aka AH i'd prefer the latter. |

Diablo 3 was horrible when it had an AH I only enjoyed it after they removed AH. AH has negative impact on game in nearly every aspect.
Slowly collecting gold until you have the 30 million or 50 billion required for an upgrade is horrible gameplay. I played d3 for 1600 hours after they removed AH, but AH era was horrible. Last edited by kolpo on Jan 8, 2024, 3:53:24 AM

AH negatively affects the game. People desire it due to the convenience, but it is definitely a net negative for a game like PoE.
The biggest issue is botting. Currently you list something for 1 chaos instead of 1 div, you get 20 whispers and you realise ah my bad wrong price. Bots would instantly snipe the auction house and get your items. Bots would also completely control the economy to a much further degree that you can imagine, it would plague regular players but such a massive degree. A completely automated trading hub like Auction house is bad for the game. And to this day it is still bad in MMOs like wow economy wise since a select few can control it entirely across every market, AND its plagued with bots. The real answer is GGG just adding non automated ways to improve the trading experience, but honestly as it is at the moment its mostly fine. There are lots of suggestions to make it better so I wont go into more detail since its pointless lol. At the moment lets say you had a networth of 1,000,000 divs in affliction league. In theory you could probably control most markets and buy everything, then relist for a higher price. But doing this is so incredibly unrealistic for large markets. #1 People are offline #2 people wont respond #3 it would take hundreds or thousands of hours to constantly buy and control a market. if we had an automated auction house a single person would easily control every market
" Because we dont want offline trading. And you will never get it.
" How is that any different that farming up dozens or hundreds of divines for an upgrade here in POE? |
|
" It is different because gold holds no inherent value other than the ability to purchase an item from a vendor or another player. It's a median currency, whereas currency items in PoE have a practical use. I.e. someone who doesn't trade can still use the items to craft items themselves The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
