Did they just say POE 2 Trading is going to be worse than POE 1?

“Saving the state of the game” = “creating a savestate”. You were okay with the former; savestate is just a shorthand term.
Apparently a misunderstanding. I meant this thread with "first time".

I wouldn’t expect them to suddenly come up with a solution either. But we aren’t talking about suddenly. “suddenly”, we’re talking about at least four years of development.

It’s not like handling interactions between saves and game updates is some novel new problem there aren’t good solutions to; practically every game updates. And they can always just use the current system as the failsafe to fall back to anyway. Worst case scenario: the system can’t handle updates at all and someone gets a free safe logout immediately before patches hit. That’s okay.
Not arguing the possibility. From my POV it would be easily possible and otherwise beneficial (debugging and such) anyway. Its just that the impression I have from GGG so far is not so good when it comes to such thing. See the pointlessly long area transition times due to some Texas server. Or the excuses for not making death logs. Etc. The game is full of technical issues like these that would be easily fixable. Anyway Im more interested in a proper source for information.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
Doesnt sound fun.

Most boss attack patterns are basic once you are familiar. There is a reason why the current PoE1 bosses dont have 2 to 3 billion hp.

Will see how it goes, if its fun its fun. If not, there are a million other games out there.

they are listening too much to streamers and alienating their true player base. Honestly, based on what I've been seeing since ultimatum, I really fear PoE2, and if the game is another copy of Lost Ark where you spend 15 minutes dodging a boss that is a damage sponge... I'll just go back to the good old D2.

I know no streamer who would want this shit. Its just yet another CW vision, he tries to make PoE 2 into Dark Souls 3.5.

So in the Krip interview:
- About a third of the time in a map should be the boss fight
- Can't open a portal unless you get 2.5 secods uninterrupted
- Boss fights take about a minute whne you know what you are doing

Doesn't that mean trading is going to suck hard?

OK, help me out here: What in the blue hell do portals have to do with trading? ^^

To trade you need to use portal to go back to your HO. What happens when you cant do that? You cant trade. Nowadays even waiting "just" a minute for trade feels like forever adn most people would just leave pt and find other seller.

And can you log out safely instead?

Always easy to spot the hardcore logout macro user.

They just need to halt the instance and reconnect it.

It is very bad idea and it has nothing to reality, because "frozen" or "halted" instance consumes a lot of memory. This is the reason we never save the whole game's memory into the savegame as an image but only serialized gamestate data in order to recreate the instance from the scratch.

Saving the image is good only for the complex systems like your OS (hybernation), virtual machines and such things but the payment is very high storage consumption.

Im referring to how PoE works now. Whether this is good/efficient/whatever or not got nothing to do with it. And if they do "the lesser version" then it will be more efficient than the one they got now. Because now they also need to calculate while player waits for gfx to load etc. They wouldnt have to do that then.
