This game has definitely went overboard with the on-death mechanics.

No idea what crystals you are talking about. But you admited it yourself - you were sitting on them. You play HC and you didnt learn that stopping in PoE means death? Ironically zoom zoom builds are usually the safest ones because you outspeed most dangerous stuff.

It's a rare monster mod and it called exactly "exploding crystals on hit", since I play HARDCORE I have to abit to always read rare monsters mods when I attack them.
Problem is that at times, in chaotic situations, is almost impossible to keep track of every rare monster on the screen.

I know that running around and shooting stuff like a 90s arcade Shoot'em up is "the way" to play the game nowadays... but in fact that is one of the problems this game currenlty has.

Now if you are telling me you can't play true melee in this game ok.. but can I say it's a problem to fix?

One death mechanincs that can oneshot even a tanky char should be easy to track and see, some of them are not and should be reworked.

Ok I had to google wtf is that mod you are talking about and its the "purple DD". SO yeah, dont stand on a corpse you just killed and you will be safe, even if you play "true melee". It doesnt explode instantly.

I don't die in them, because I have chaos res capped (also cap increased) and some other def shenanigans. person A definition of "tanky" =/= person B definition of "tanky". For some people ele resist cap is "tanky".
Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like.

Can't tell if serious, but not quite. The crystals don't spawn on the corpse, they spawn where your character was standing when they were attacking the enemy. They make a loud noise when you hit an enemy with the affix as the crystal spawns under your feet, then they make a shrieking noise and grow in size pulsing violently and flashing brightly for a second after the enemy dies before exploding. Each hit spawns a crystal up to some cap, so if you do small amounts of damage and hit many times, then you get a lot of crystals that can all explode for a lot of damage, but that requires standing still after killing said enemy. A few crystals exploding is usually fairly easy to tank, if you stand still during the fight and make a large cluster of them you can build your own death trap, this is more equivalent to dying to corrupting blood though since it's an on hit effect with a corresponding sound effect, and it's spawning under your feet as it's happening not a corpse effect.

I literally never died to those. I never even was close to dying to those. I had to google what mod you guys talk about because I barely even notice it. Its like on the bottom of list of dangerous mods. Even lightning mirage is more dangerous. If someone is standing still and complainging that they died... well, stop standing still.

Its been a minute since I played, but it seems every other mob has something that happens after death, that generally 1 shots you.

On-death mechanics has always been one of the most annoying mods in this game, or any game for that matter, and its compounded 10x by how terrible the visual clarity is in this game.

When you got a overlay map open, fairy dust poofing out of their corpses, visual clutter laying everywhere with muted, bland, and dark colors, you cant see this stuff half the time.

Its like they have dialed it up even more since the last time I played.

Its easily one of the worst mechanics in Arpgs. Its dialed up to 11, for no reason at all, in a game with possibly the worst visual clarity of any Arpg. On top of Rare affixes being the equivalent of fine print on a contract. Yea in the 0.5 second time it took to kill that guy, I happened to catch the on-death mechanic under his name in size 2 font, with a mini-map up and god knows what else visually impairing the map.

I can honestly say Ive died more times to after death or on death mechanics than anything else in the game.

Try playing T16 Juiced maps with full Abyss mods and wait for "the famous biggest meta shake up spire" to spawn 30 elites that will kill you even if Jesus himself held your hand by your side while you are playing.

bETA game.
I'm tired of running away from monsters I just killed as they are much more dangerous dead than they were alive.
