Do you like this Affliction league? Or Tota was better league than that? Your thoughts.

Affliction is so good league mechanic that Im doing Blighted maps full-time for the first time in ~10 leagues.

(But thats partly because of how broken Viper Strike of Mamba is for those)

i like leagues that are their own thing(delve) , or at least something you do fast in the map and move on (ritual) , the meta this league created is horrible . i hate it , tota was okey .

and the whole abyss magic find thing is borderline an exploit.
Abyss just creates a lot of rares. There is nothing special about it. If Breach, Legion, Expediion or any other league you could add with scarabs would spawn 40-50 extra rares, they would use it instead.
TotA was far better because it was balanced better. Sanctum was the only outlier and the delta between Sanctum and other good currency farming strategies (boss rushing in particular) wasn’t nearly as insane as what we’re seeing now between Abyss proj farming and anything else.

Affliction just gives out too much currency, gilded/winged scarabs, sextants and T0 uniques for relatively low effort in a low tier map that is easily farmable by everyone. There’s no chase economy but for a handful of niche items outside of the core drop pool (Progenesis, Original Sin, Voices, etc.) and there’s no feeling of reward/accomplishment for being knowledgeable/good at the game.

Affliction is the equivalent of a D3 season from a Trade perspective. It’s all fun for a very short time but you burn out fast because you’ve got all the best items in the game by the second week, everyone is on the same meta loadout and everyone is farming the same content. But it gets boring fast and whenever the subsequent league is going to be more in line with the average league it’s going to feel terrible to the majority of players who are now seeing previously unseen levels of success/reward for little to no effort. It’s the first time PoE has felt like a formulaic slot machine: use scarab X/Y/Z, apply sextant A/B/C and buy/roll +2 proj maps for guaranteed inventories full of what are usually chase items/currency in any other league.

GGG is shooting themselves in the foot here, I thought we moved past this after Harvest and Kalandra god-touched loot goblins, yet we’re back in the same position only significantly worse than any of those other leagues that were far too rewarding. There’s going to have to be a course correction by removing the Abyss-proj interaction, by not having the Wildwood Wisps go core and possibly by also nerfing MF altogether. GGG knows this, it’s not healthy for a 3-4 month seasonal ARPG to sit in the current state of low effort, extremely high reward with 1 singular meta strategy that makes nearly every other strategy seem like a complete waste of time.

For SSF it’s obviously great since it fixes the core problem of SSF, namely high tier core drop pool unique target-farming. You don’t have to farm The Coming Storm cards anymore and maybe gamble them up to a full stack with Harvest, you just go to your low tier map and run the Wandering Path Abyss proj strategy with reliquary scarabs and you’ll hit a Lightning Coil in perhaps 2 afternoons on average. Likely less. Even at low/no MF.

I personally don’t think any of the above is good for the short- and long-term appeal of an ARPG.

Everything goes to standard to die a slow death. All this currency who cares when the league just isn’t fun.

ToTa is bad example because, for some reason, it had best retention of all leagues, ever. Even Ritual didnt go that well and a huge chunk of playerbase thinks of Rituals as "last league before nerf waves".

Because ToTa was just good. Pure maping leagues are boring. They bring 0 variety, we do maps every league. For some reason those low effort league mechanics are popular among forum dwelers.

it's a mapping game. I hate any mechanic that prevents me from mapping or forces me to interact with anything other than maps.
Well let's see. Affliction 10/10, TOTA 0/10. I can't get more clear.
I have not enjoyed the mechanic of either league tbh. PoE in a quality state to just do whatever you like though so I still play.
We tested it extensively
I like the mechanic though I dislike magic finding in general, it just gives a reason to reduce drop rates to compensate then if your not magic finding its absolutely terrible. Tota was just not fun to do in my opinion and way too rewarding. GGG is kind of painting themselves in a corner with all these loot piñata leagues.
