Do you like this Affliction league? Or Tota was better league than that? Your thoughts.
I enjoyed TotA more, mostly that I liked the actual event itself, and I tend to prefer things that you can passively collect during mapping, then go and handle as a set aside thing (similar to Alvia, Heist and the like, where you're accuring tokens for entry, then doing a bunch of them at once, rather than doing it once per map).
That isn't to say I don't enjoy Wildwood, I do enjoy it, along with the core improvements added (i.e altered gems). It, like every league has some tweaks that need be done, improving the colors issue with wisps (just making the wisp aura pure white rather than blue white likely does the trick), and improving some of the visual clarity of those areas (but that's a problem all of PoE has). I'd like a little more player agency in regards to extending your stay in the Wildwood, or reducing it, controlling what does and doesn't get wisp empowered, as well as the types of wisps you follow, as currently it feels mostly up to chance (both in what actually spawns, and what you happen to see / follow first). But I don't have a good solution for those more baked in problems. |

nice trees ruined by reused mobs in different colours and some new ones (to me at least) and almost interesting npc's with a lot to say. I've just started so my impressions don't count for much but affliction seems ok i guess if you like annoying mobs like spriggans and the usual op rares. Not much fun going toe to toe with them and waiting for them to die because their regen or endurance charges make the 'fight' last longer than is reasonable in a arpg.

This league is by far better than Tota in many ways.
It's sad that we don't have tattoos to play around with but the new unique jewel and the 3 trees on it's own open up new stuff so it's fine. Having a in map mechanic is also better than this outside of the map mini game shit, and the extra map juice also feels quite rewarding and makes even "poor mans" mapping feel good without giga investment into giga juiced maps. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Tota was better. In aftliction you have 0 power over what gets the buff. Maping with differently glowing mobs is hardly a mechanic i would call a league. I like the woods but its just delve.

As far as my tastes go, this league is so much better as I prefer mapping over everything else. Having a great time so far.
TOTA had tattoos that were great, but that's about it, as the league mechanic itself was less than exciting. While this league's mechanic is rather simple, it still offers a lot. The new ascendancy classes are giving lots of new options. The new jewel you can get from the boss fight is great. Once you've got your character sorted and with a new ascendancy all unlocked, it becomes a nice routine for mapping. Just go in the forest, get as much wisps as you can, and blast through your map while getting crazy drops. Getting multiple divines to drop in a map every now and then is quite nice. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is I that often have to press the toggle highlighting key in order to see the mobs as so much loot drops. A nice improvement would be the possibility to leave the forest when you've acquired as much "mapping juice" as you deem your present build can handle. It would make the early part of getting a character together a little easier and less jarring when using the mechanic, and less frustrating for those who are having issues with the buffed mobs. |
