why is the PoE community so toxic?

tft and the poe reddit discord arent any official discords right?
today i got timed out for (apparently) trolling(?) so i've been asking for a low budget accuracy stacker tornado shot build and none of the people told me like "not possible on low budget" or something like this people been saying stuff like "2 mirrors is entry budget" so i asked further about that and even said its ok if i am only able to farm low tier maps later on. so people been declaring me as a troll because i couldnt understand why no one told me simply "there is no low budget acc stack ts build" so i went on by defending myself against those accusations being a troll here is the chat history ______________________________________________________________________________ [Removed by Support] "There are Penalties in the Game, no one's complaining about them" Chris Wilson Exilecon 2019 Last edited by ShaunB_GGG on Sep 22, 2023, 7:34:03 AM Last bumped on Oct 3, 2023, 9:18:59 AM

1. Naming other people is against the rules and actively policed.
[Removed by Support] 4. You asked a question that isn't realistically answerable in any detail in a game chat channel, then when you got a direct answer you replied with snark. Everything from that point on was tainted with your behavior to that point. The PoE community isn't any more toxic than any other community, but most people don't suffer fools or turds that well and you acted like both. Then, to make things worse, you came to the forums to whine about how you were treated as a result of your own behavior, posting like 5 pages of chat logs without any form of formatting or filtering to make the context easily legible, again expecting other people to do the work for you. If you want to be treated in a way that is less "toxic", in your own words, act in a way that engenders people to be inclined to help you, rather than spurn you. PoE is full of elitist know-it-alls. You can meet a few people who are nice and willing to help but mostly you will get comments about skill issues or something of that sort. I imagine playing POE on a regular basis will cause you to become toxic.

Even now you have one few posts below where the dude has 3,4k life and nothing else. This days being honest is considered toxic i guess. " Pointing out skill issues or knowledge issues is not "toxic". Well, at least not if you're not being a dick about it. Being overly defensive and deny that skill/knowledge issues is even a thing, pushing every build issue over on the game is just as toxic IMO. Toxicity is a 'problem' in 'most' communities on the internet where anonymity is present. It's just how it is today. Sure, we'll probably find a bit more of it in a gaming community centered around a competitive, hardcore game designed to sink a lot of hours into. And, of course, it also has to do with the thickness of people's skin. I have a very positive impression of PoE's community, especially in my guild and via the majority of random encounters I have with other people in the game. The forums and Reddit on the other hand... Are places where the loud minority hangs. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
