WoW Classic Hardcore vs PoE Hardcore

Let me correct myself, they are removing the *problem* of instant logout because instant logout will no longer be a get-out-of-danger-free card.
It costs a portal now. Far as I understand (see above, not much really) in PoE2 it will cost the instance ~= all portals.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Wait... I didn't know you can just Alt+F4 out of an imminent death? :O That saves your HC character here?

As long as the character isnt dead yet on the server.
Just watch some "elite pro (SSF)HC streamers" with the socalled "logout macro". And its also commonly used for flask refilling in boss fights. IMO one of the bads about design/implementation of PoE. Also (IMO) they could properly fix this in PoE2 (or PoE too) but dont seem to want to - see above comments by me.
In addition to that they somehow apparently intentionally design parts of the game to promote this logouting: Like you cant escape Delve or boss fights or TotA in any other manner.

Edit: And on the other side they have that "6 second disconnect timer" which will kill characters upon irregular/unrecognizable disconnect. And this would be easy to fix unlike the above but they also dont want to.

Oh dang, that's actually really interesting. Thanks for sharing that, and I think I recall reading or watching somewhere where they have safeguards for that now in PoE2

What exactly those "safeguards" guard against is the open question. My take so far (no proper evidence) is that its limited to ensuring one try only in one instance. So logout can still be used to escape but not to fill flasks or to comeback safely.

They can tone the damage down significantly without 6 portals too (they don't actually have to obviously but the margin to make a fight similar difficulty is much lower when you only get 1 portal)

It should be a benefit for HC overall, PoE used to be better than it is tbh - Shaper, UE, Maven, Sirus were all very fair and decent bosses bugs aside in Sirus's case. Modded contracts, the feared and ubers really chuck a grenade into that tightrope of balance though.
I really like this discussion having played WowHC for 200hours now. I lost characters to disconnects and had some bad crashes, and even though it's game mechanics are trash, not being able to logout out of danger makes things much better in many ways.

It is absolutely fun, and I recommend trying it for a bit. But Poe is still much better gameplay wise for a hc game. MMOs aren't good for those because professions and other time-sinks are too detriment for the experience.

When you can't logout, looking into a situation before-hand, if it's really dangerous or not becomes part of the game. And when you did it wrong, you have to use all within your power to survive, instead of thinking "Should I close my game now?". Looking into it, it's a little silly.

My conclusion is this, Poe2 should remove instantaneous logout. Streamers already did the no logout challenge and proved it to be manageable and was successful in making the clips more enjoyable.
