I thought I was ready to facetank the Searing Exarch's incinerate slam...

Kinda glad that you can't, and you shouldn't beable to.

I dont think the design team for a skill that is supposed to one shot wanted the possibility of being able to tank it.

A slow, extremely telegraphed, well understood, obvious, attack should never have the ability to be tanked. At all.

Hate to break it to ya but it's possible and done all the time. Armour stacker with Mageblood, 90% all resists + Mageblood+ high armor, Mageblood+ oodles of increased flask effect+ Petrified Blood +Progenesis etc, many ways to have quarter million EHP, half a million, and even higher. Sushi is playing a Blade Trapper with like 5 million EHP.
My last build could take uber shaper slam and stand in his beam for 3 seconds or so lol

I guess if design was to kill players they can just.. well... make it to kill players, not give it an extreme, but manageable amount of damage. Of course most players will still avoid this "as intended", but isn't it fun to sometimes do things like this?

Absolutely. For me, its the whole point of the genre. In my mind the point in this genre is to become a god that trivializes the content. Unfortunately a lot of the PoE player base misses the point and thinks reaching this state is "OP".

Well, if your character is so strong, that he can trivialize or ignore anything that game can throw on him, then this is count as "overpowered" after all :D Cause your power level is way higher then any game monster's.

I think people see this as bad thing cause some builds can reach that point so much more easily then others (also add here game experience/skill issues/utmost unbalanced things) and that feels somewhat unfair.

As for me, this league was the first one, when I managed to kill some ubers (never did this before, and I started to play this game at 1.1). I'm not trading (though not playing SSF either), not using guides or trying to make "efficient farming strats". I just randomly get penance of dissipation from lab, checked the numbers, decided that this should be enough and go in. Build is not very good at clearing, can be killed be some really juiced things, but I managed to reach ~10mils on pinnacles. Still needed some crafting and luck to gather items. Still have tons of ways to improve it, but don't interested in minmaxing.
Min maxing is the whole point of the genre. Why bother playing if you don't care.

That's always the fun part about the game to min-max not only your dmg up but also your defense to just face tank most of the uber stuff while maintaining crazy amount of damage way above of what the average lazy players or zdps builds get.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
The problem with min maxing is that the game gets boring if you overdo it. Especially on the dps front. 1 shotting ubers might feel good the first 2 or 3 times but at some point it simply gets boring.
It's just a fun end of league project once you don't really have anything else to do and enough currency to burn

Why tank it? It's very easy to dodge, just move out of the way.

This isn't Diablo, boss slams are meant to be dodged not tanked
