With the changes to base damage and added damage effectiveness, The base damage of hexblast is very similar to what it used to be.

However the doom scaling going from 120% more damage to 40% more is just awful, it's a 37% less damage nerf, and that's not counting the few nerfs to occultist. There's no way to offset this by building something else, the skill just deals much less damage.

In the guide I made a huge comparison between fireball ignite potential and hexblast, to show why hexblast was so great.
On a 2 link with hexblast + added lightning, hexblast has a base damage of 5584 for ignites in 3.19. Fireball had only 3001. In 3.20, hexblast has 3543 base damage on a 2 link, which is a mere 18% more than fireball. But fireball is a fire spell, and elementalist can scale it far better.

I don't see much of a point in interacting with hexblast's complex mechanics if it's going to be weaker than a simpler alternative, and I'm definitely not going to recommend playing it. The build still "works", it will just deal half the damage it used to.

legit loved this build so much.

I am extremely sad to see this build be non viable now. Hexblast is my absolute favorite spell and I loved playing as a orbital striker occultist. If hexblast ever makes in appearance in a build of yours I'll be definitely checking it out in the future.

The build closest in feel to what Orbital Striker was would be a Bane build. Something like what Xayazi has posted here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3265244

But I wouldn't try bossing with this build as scaling Blight to comfortable dps will cost a fortune.
