What was most interesting was Chuck's reaction: the Chinese ending is actually closer to the book's, so technically America by way of Fincher censored Fight Club first. Not to mention some editors change the print ending of FC to match the movie...and Chuck's deeply anticapitalist writing has long faced censure in the more conservative parts of the US.
So it's understandable he isn't exactly heartbroken over a communist/totalitarian take on his already compromised work.
