Remote Mine

I've tried using this with Spell Totem and it's rather... sad.

I can place a number of traps, but when I detonate, it only spawns 1 totem, dismissing all the other traps.

I expected either one of these things to happen:

- The totem to lay mines near enemies, which I could then detonate.
- The mines to spawn 1 totem each with the attached spell (I realize this would probably be OP, and I've seen videos of this being the behaviour before)

As it is, spell totem + remote mine is a sad excuse for what could be a pretty cool and interesting combination (lightning warp spell totem mines would be hilarious)

it was best thing to witness although not really damage effective. there was plenty around to cause distractions and multiple spots of damage. damage modifiers don't cancel out but the multiple numbers of totems vastly remaining penalty.

if anything just watching was enough to be satisfied, who cares about damage with teleporting sticks plus some flashes popping everywhere.
How does this spell work with the Molten Shell skill? Does it deal the damage if I detonate it?

Same question with Rightious fire. Does it create an aoe burn where the mine is placed?
So basically when using a Remote Mine all it is doing is activating any usable, linked ability at the base damage and power set on the gem itself.

No bonuses from gear/passive/stats at all?

I am curious because one remote mine with Rain of Arrows (level 1) is doing the exact same amount of damage as just straight casting Rain of Arrows without the mine attached- for less mana cost.... it would be very silly not to have a Firestorm trap not take my spell damage boosts.

That or there is a lot of work needed for coefficients, modifiers and the like for traps/mines and ranged weapon attacks.

You know how Molten Shell works, right? With the damage absorbing thing?

Traps and Mines have 1 Life. RF doesn't work if the caster has 1 Life. If you can even link it in the first place, it still won't do crap.

No, that's not how it works.
Mines, Traps and Totems cast the linked skill 'for you', using your stats for damage. If you have Increased Physical damage, they will benefit when dealing Physical damage.
I assume that when a Remote Mine casts a Totem as its ability, since a Totem is what is actually dealing damage, that the "Mine Deals % More Damage" doesn't actually apply to Totems. Does anyone know if this is correct? I can't find any information regarding this.

Example: Flame Totem linked to Remote Mine does not deal more damage.

the speed of "detonate mines" dont seem to match the speed of seting the mine, i got 15% trap laying speed atm.

setting the mines is pretty fast, but detonating them seems much slower.
so maybe the trap setting speed dont affect the "detonate mines" skill?
and i think you should add "trap" as a separate skill category (spell/attack/trap) to the ingame tooltips. detonate mines shows "attack speed", instead it should show "trap/mine speed"

What i use:
Passive Skills

It does. It's applying a damage multiplier stat to whatever skill the mine uses. If a totem skill has a damage multiplier stat, it applies to the totem's damage. Remove mine allows you to get extra damage from your totems at the expense of not being able to place them ahead of you.

So, just for some simple example
lvl 1 remote mine adds +30% to the damage.

Say I link it to a Fire Totem, those +30% apply to the whole duration of that totem's life yeah? Seems pretty strong to me, just making sure I got this right.
you still can only have one or two totems.

Thanks for the response. I will try it out.
