Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Trade services may be suspended

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of exiles worldwide and presents an unprecedented crash.

The pandemic has been affecting the entire social system and has laid bare its fragility. Trade restrictions and confinement measures have been preventing farmers from accessing markets, including for buying stuffs and selling their roots.

It might be a new announcement for GGG.

just to point out a technicality, covid-19 was never declared to be a pandemic by the WHO (World Health Organization).
it has merely been claimed it was by the media, so the rhetoric continues, but it wasn't ever officially declared a pandemic. thus calling it a pandemic is technically incorrect
Nothing that a good scrubbing of the lungs with detergent can't fix. I hear it knocks it right out!

"WHO characterizes COVID-19 as a pandemic

11 March 2020

'Speaking at the COVID-19 media briefing, the WHO Director-General said:
"WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction.

We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.

Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly. It is a word that, if misused, can cause unreasonable fear, or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death.

Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO’s assessment of the threat posed by this virus. It doesn’t change what WHO is doing, and it doesn’t change what countries should do.

We have never before seen a pandemic sparked by a coronavirus. This is the first pandemic caused by a coronavirus.

And we have never before seen a pandemic that can be controlled, at the same time."'

The media, when they're doing their job, signal-boost the truth as recognised by nearly unassailable scientific and expert authority. That is the case here. Please don't respond unless it's to somehow disprove these link. I have no interest in wasting time with someone who wants to dissemble and quibble in the face of overwhelming proof. You already showed your true colours in janie's thread, and I doubt they've changed since.

you're 100% correct, thats exactly what they said!!!

We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic.

they never declared it a pandemic. after this statement is when the media went on a giant crap chute saying that WHO declares covid-19 a pandemic! well, sorry, but they didn't. they said it can be characterized as a pandemic and then immediately start calling it a pandemic, and by this statement people insinuate they "declared" it a pandemic. they never did.

why does this matter? well in fact there are some drastic legal repercussions to "declaring" a pandemic and then it not actually being one, such as exactly what happened with H1N1 in 2009 and some laws were changed to dictate that anyone that falsely declares a pandemic can be financially responsible for the fallout.

just saying. its an interesting fact.

words matter - especially in this case. WHO never declared covid-19 a pandemic. they stated it can be classified as a pandemic, and then its the rest of the world who starts classifying it as a pandemic. it was never officially "declared" to be one.
in this case there is a very important legal difference.

All else aside, I do not see the Covid-19 global pandemic affecting GGG/PoE all that much. New Zealand is famously isolated and, compared to a lot of other countries, has been spared the ravages. The most obvious effect I'd see is delayed delivery of physical goods, since those tend to ship from the US. GGG rarely hire outside of NZ as it is, so it's not as if they've suddenly lost access to their most important resource.

I suppose there might be some hiccups between GGG and Tencent but it seems to me that China was hit hard and hit early but is largely back on its feet. How much of this is genuine and how much is, well, let's call it flexibility with the facts remains to be seen.

If anything, Exiles should be grateful that their favourite devs are in one of the safest developed nations in the world right now.

I don't get this Social acceptance of People saying and believing bullshit is somehow an Excellent thing. The popularity of bullshit is a strange phenomenon. Bullcrap is not a thing here.

They did. We clarify that with WHO. If you didn't understand that content, it mean they didn't declare Covid-19 a pandemic until March 2020.

and you're denying reality, which is the true definition of insanity!
but you're right, we do have a society of accepting false realities based on fear and feelings. you want to say you're Michael Jackson? its socially wrong for me to tell you otherwise!

so continue believing what you want. no skin off my ass, anyway
