Forget about Diablo or Torchlight, Chris' real fear is Cyberpunk 2077!

Good thing he knows the real competition comes from actually good games, amirite? ;)

First person against third person?
I don't really know anything about it, I assumed it was really bad though. A while ago when it was getting advertised heavily they never showed any gameplay or anything even implying what you do in it, just flashy cinematics with random stuff happening. I've never seen a game come out good that avoided showing itself until after you paid for it.
Oh my god, I'm pretty confident it's not good now. I tried to find stuff about it, go to their website, there's absolutely nothing about the game. Just a bunch of options to buy it and a video showing the things you can get in game with the special edition.

Edit: Never mind, I just went back to it, clicked the same link. It's a different site now somehow. There's still not much on it, there's some videos on the bottom I'm gonna check out though.

Edit again: It looks like it might be great if you're more looking for a book than a game. The game play is really dull, and I'm extremely hoping they were showcasing it on some non-existent ultra beginner difficulty.

But yeah, I can't imagine Chris is too worried about that. It's just a slower paced, more story focused Dues Ex.

Bruh, they've had extensive gameplay reveals out for years now -

There's also loads of info out there about virtually every aspect of the game.

They don't showcase that stuff to people not already interested in it though. Which is a huge red flag to me.

I watched like half the deep dive and a bunch of bits from the 48 minute one. There's literally nothing about the actual game that Dues Ex doesn't do better (literally every bit of the game was taken straight from Dues Ex). And Dues Ex isn't an overly popular game.
I think the main selling points for Cyberpunk is:

** Quests or better missions with lots of choice and consequences.

** A realistic cyberpunk setting.

Chances are high I will be playing it as well.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
I find human natur alway´s a bit astounishing. If something is genuinly talked good about, then everybody will find it good, like lemming´s.

It´s cynical at best, that chris wilson is afraid of a perticular game at a particular time frame.

Cyberpunk is prakticly a movie game, with zero replayability. Story driven games alway´s promise ""choices"", wich they can´t fullfill.
I´d be more intrested if cyberpunk would more be structured like GTA, were i can do what i want, with consequences of course.

Anyway´s, it will of course be a huge commercial succes.

The story is meant to have multiple ways of going through it, as well as a myriad of more involved side quests. However, even if you're skeptical of that, Cyberpunk is also fully an RPG, which means that even if the story is similar everytime, you'll be able to make a multitude of different kinds of characters to play it. You need only look at Elder Scrolls Skyrim to see how much longevity can be had from that. If you want an example of a 'movie game', check out Detroit: Become Human. That's a much better example of a 'game' that doesn't have much gameplay for you to sink your teeth into.

But anyway, none of that matters. If you watch the clip, you'll see Chris himself isn't thinking PoE will be competing with Cyberpunk in the long run. He's just trying to avoid the spike period around its launch, when everyone will be rushing to try it out. How many of those people stick with it for the long haul remains to be seen.
