You need a curse which does not apply with an aura. Therefore, if you are using blasphemy+despair, you need a +1 curse item (whisper of doom annoint or +1 curse on chest) if you want temporal chains to apply. Otherwise, mobs will only be affected by despair and lose the curse when they die : no explosions !
I'd start with the annoint (3 golden oil ~90 chaos) then switch to the chest later.
Aaah thanks I understand, I do feel this is a bit underexplained in the guide when suggesting these gloves as BiS, as it doesn't say you DO need that +1 curse running.
Been loving the build so far, sitting at almost 8days played with around 200 deaths.
The damage and clear is amazing but the build feels lacking in defensive layers. Here's where my build is at, any suggestions for improvements is welcome.
1x Large jewel: Grim oath, Overwhelming malice and wicked pall
1x medium jewel Circling oblivion, haemorrhage + resistances
1x medium jewel Circling oblivion, wicked pall
2x small jewel: fettle
Any suggestions for rings? I crafted a shaped amethyst ring but not really sure what the go to rare ring should be. POB dps is sitting at 18mill single target atm with 5.4k life and 70+ dodge chance.
Also it's worth mentioning that through harvest crafting you can guarantee Grim Oath and Overwhelming malice on your large cluster jewels, by using augment physical twice on an open prefix and suffix. Youd be absolutely insane not to do this, the damage is crazy on a large jewel like this.
Playing the build and loving it. A couple questions:
1. How much of a DPS increase is imprescense over a +1 dex gems, chaos dot amulet w/ a despair on hit ring?
2. Are asenaths that crazy of a DPS increase if you have a splodey chest and temp chains else where? And do you need splodey chest if you have asenaths? Obviously the temp chains is great. But it would be significantly cheaper on Xbox to buy a bunch of embalmers and try to get the temp chains corrupt (I’m working on additional curse chest, and planning to go spell crit as well, but tempted to get crazy and run enemies explode for clear and to have the crusader influence for the power charge suffix too)
Reason I’m asking these questions: 1. I’m on Xbox and there’s 1 pair of asenaths on server. So not cheap. 2. As I look at the build, squeezing in all my resists seems like it will be really hard between running impresence, unique gloves, tailwind + poison boots, circle of nostalgia and devouring diadem.

1. I havent tested that, but i would assume the difference is pretty big, due to rings only giving lv 8 despair on hit. Level 20+ despair gives A LOT of damage and impresence alows running the two circle of nostalgia's rings, wich also give alot of damage. +1 dex/ chaos dot multi probably doesnt make up for that, but again, i havent tested. It would make balancing resists easier, but i dont think thats necessary this league.
2. Asenath's doesnt give you dps, you can test this on pob. It might increase your "Total DPS inc. Poison", but that is due to it making your poisons last longer, they are still doing the same amount of damage per second. The point is, if things take long to die, asenaths can help you, because in that case, youre using that extra duration. But when you get enough damage that everything just dies, it becomes pretty much useless(in terms of damage) unless youre doing very juiced up content(majority of ppl will never do this), and even then it might not really be necessary. "Total DPS inc. Poison" can be very misleading when it comes to DPS, because certain things, like Circling Oblivion, might make it seem like youre doing alot more damage per second, when in fact is barely giving any DPS. It might be useful when your damage is low, but once you reach certain levels of dps, it barely matters.

So, i actually just tested the amulet + ring combination.
The amulet i used to test is min-maxed, so it had +1dex / +1phys / global crit multi / chaos DoT / crit strike all T1. The ring only had despair lv 8 on it.
Surprisingly, the damage i got from it is pretty much on par with what i get from impresence + 2 nostalgia's(in the testing i put amulet + despair ring + 1 nostalgia). You could put more damage on the ring but you probably wont get much more out of it. It might be a good idea to go this route so you can have a easier time balancing resists + getting extra life, since nostalgia doesnt give you any, but again, i dont think balancing resists is a big issue this league. You also lose maddening presence from impresence, but gain the gem sockets used for blasphemy + despair, not sure what you would put in their place though.
In conclusion, it could work, but it might be too much of a hassle given how easy it is to just get impresence + nostalgias (not sure about console), definitly something for endgame, not early.

Also, to be more clear on this, im talking about temp chains in general, about the damage it gives you. Basically, temp chains makes your poison on enemies last longer, but the tick speed of poison is the same, so dps is the same. Temp chains is good defensively, though. In terms of explosions, explodey chest is better for sure, cause asenath's doesnt always explode everything, it relies on the mechanic of monsters being close to bodies cursed by your curses, meaning you can still die to a pack of porcupines for example, depending on their positioning.
