Yea, EE works really well in party play if you plan for it. I'm just playing in a duo so it is pretty easy to do.
Basically here is how it works: if I play this build, it paths right by EE so as long as I take a jewel with added flat damage of an appropriate elemental damage the initial hit triggers EE. The other person (or people) in the party then get the benefits/problems of EE but they can't trigger it. So if I hit them with a whopping 5 lightning damage they get additional resist to lightning but significantly lowered resist to cold and fire. Since my partner is planning to play icicle mines, that works really well. Also, don't have to deal with the curse effectiveness issues with bosses. Incidentally it also lets me run despair on hit without him having to worry about elemental weakness or frostbite (which honestly miners rarely run anyway) as the EE debuff is WAY better. A few leagues ago we did th same, where I ran vortex and used orb of storms and storm brand in a trigger want to keep up EE. Because vortex only hits once and then does all the DOT damage which can't trigger EE, it let the rapid hits from orb of storms and storm brand to overwrite it and keep the enemy weak to fire and cold, he ran pyroclast mines then (which already did insane damage but with the debuff it really just one shot everything). Meanwhile he got the benefit of me running blasphemy enfeeble and temp chains with increased curse effect and the chill of vortex if he was close... Very very safe but very high damage team. Party play is complicated in this game, but if you think it through it works very nicely without having to go full on support roles (in parties of 5-6 that is definitely better though). Edit: it's important to note, I get nothing from EE. Also, he couldn't trigger it for himself because his mines hit constantly with one damage type. But one passive point for about 30% more team damage against everything including bosses is a really good trade-off... Last edited by jeremy_u_s3 on May 30, 2020, 11:54:51 AM

Yeah, if you have a constant hitting skill only way to work EE for yourself is sacrifice a ring slot for that ring that gives EE only to the slotted ability. But there are so many good options for rings for ele builds that it sucks to do so.
I was just thinking in stuff like public parties not coordinated group if you play ele build you wouldn't know if someone else isn't screwing your dps with his EE. | |
Yea, using EE in a public party is a recipe for disaster for the other people. I've never played in a public party, in this specific situation it is great but I most people play solo and most party play seems to fall into either public parties or highly organized 6+ man groups. I typically play with either just my oldest son or both my kids and my wife. Since I'm basically the dungeon master in this situation (my oldest son is starting to grok it as well though), I can control this and it can be really really nice. We tried in the four man party going with one clear, one bosser, a cursebot, and an aurabot and it wasn't enough fun to keep my wife and youngest interested (I was aurabot, she was cursebot so we took the boring routes). It was very powerful, but since that time I have just coordinated builds and it works quite well too.
It's important to remember that one one person takes EE and that person triggers it for everyone. So other people can't trigger it, just you. Think of it like the minion builds that use it. The necro does almost no damage, but uses storm brand or ball lightning so that EE triggers and reduces cold and fire resist. Then the builds often use hatred in generosity to give a lot of extra cold damage to their minions (and any allies in range). Really kicks up the single hard target damage. |

Nice build you've done, Hasunic. I commented on your youtube vid the other day when you did Sirus A8 in SSF HC. What a feast!

" Thank you very much. I was using a bit of different tree at that point, just maximizing all the life I could get because I didn't have the thread of hope yet. [3.9]Hasunic's Toxic Rain Trickster: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2712106

" How do you think about Enduring Composure? Look like it would help you quite a bit survivability wise, esp. in HC. But I'm not sure how you can fit it with your current tree without affecting Thread of Hope and Phase Acrobatics. On a different note, it seems you have quite high attack speed. I guess a quiver like this would give you more values (from the frenzy charges): Poison Scourge Arrow/Toxic Rain + Blast Rain PF| Bottled Fortify: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2851574 -- Last edited by WolfieNa on Jun 4, 2020, 11:29:11 AM

Same. I'm gonna see if I can compete on the 100 race on ssf hc myself.
Consider picking up the free wind dancer, should be nice :) [3.9]Hasunic's Toxic Rain Trickster: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2712106
