Which anointment do you all use for your amulett? Arcane Guarding (chance to block, increased spell damage, increased energy shield from shield) sounds awesome, but Entropy (more damage over time) as well.

Unfortunately, good old Cassia has become very rare since going core and thus her oils, too. One needs teal, black oil for Arcane Guarding. Sepia, amber, crimson for Entropy.

I recommend tranquility. has always been my go-to. but work within your budget. it's a continuous improvement, so if the budget allows and it helps your build immediately, it's worth the consideration.

Hi Wrecker,

Great guide as usual. I had a little trouble at league start, but it's doing much better after my third ascendancy and some better gear.

I have a question about the passive tree. On the southeast side of the tree, after taking "Fangs of the Viper" which provides chaos damage and Dex mostly, you continue to head south and take the other energy shield passives in the "Void Barrier" cluster. I was wondering instead of heading south, if you considered heading west instead and took the Damage Over Time increases at "Entropy." I know Energy Shield is important since its our only life, but the "Entropy" increases seem pretty big.

Cheers.

yup, take entropy. good dps boost. not really so much of a mistake not taking it, it could be a case where the dps is really not required. see what works for you. but generally I do take it.

If I understood Wrecker_of_Days correctly, it is, because this build focuses on the damage over time of Vortex. Damage over time cannot leech because I doesn't hit.

What about the 4 spells in our CWDT setups, shouldn't they leech some ES for us every time we get hit?

they're main purpose is to apply curses. so the CWDT and the triggered spells are not too high in levels, which means they're primary aim is not damage. so leech will also be minimal.

for this build, the survivability from ES leech is minimal, the build uses other mechanics/ways to ensure survival.
I have what may be a silly question, but why are the spells stopped from leveling at a certain point? Isn't it beneficial?

Hey Koeii!

Thank you. Sorry you had trouble at the start but I'm glad you're enjoying it now.

Ya, Fangs of the Viper is pointless for us...it's basically a "juiced up" travel node giving us 2x the Dex. I went for Void Barrier instead of Entropy because ES recharge rate is really important for CI. Entropy is good enough for our DoT's DPS that I'd make sure that that's my level 92 node on the passive tree. (It surprisingly isn't stronger than the other damage nodes we've selected.)

Feel free to replace Void Barrier for Entropy though! Nothing wrong with that at all!

Hello!

Thanks for the build, having a lot of fun.

I had two questions :

1) as someone who's never played a build with CI before, how much ES should I aim for before switching to CI?

2) Why didn't you take Light Eater? ES leech and damage on full ES sounds alright, or am I missing something?
Thanks wicked_potato_PoE!

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

A lot of people will say to take CI late...level 50 or later. I personally like to take it as soon as I get to it on the tree. I like being able to be immune to Chaos damage as I level and I like being able to focus on gear that helps my build right away. I obviously wouldn't take CI that soon if I was on Hardcore. The passive node Wicked Ward makes CI really easy early on. Once you get the ascendancy node Vile Bastion, it becomes REALLY easy.

Regarding Light Eater, I only focused on the DoT of Vortex's damage while making this build. Yes Vortex does hit pretty good with this build anyway, but the cooldown of Vortex makes leech a very distant secondary option for survivability. It's nothing to go out of the way for unless your build hits none stop, which we don't.

Does that help?

Hey Caligula_Exile!

I would personally go for Cursed Concoction. It's the only node I have on the tree that has no valuable travel nodes (in my opinion). I only selected it for the Curse improvement. You could then select Entropy with the two free nodes.

I'm sure there's many good options out there. But that's what I thought of right away.

Hey wicked_potato_PoE!

Ya, those spells that are on CwDT will barely do any damage which means they'll give barely any leech. As mentioned, they are appliers only.

Hey Vespyro!

The only gems that we want to stop levelling are the gems linked to CwDT gems. Cast when Damage Taken Support has gem level rules. I wanted the curses and spells to be cast frequently, which means a low-level CwDT and its corresponding spell that applies the curse.

There's a little section of the guide under Build Mechanics that explains it better. But let me know if it doesn't make sense and I'll try to help out.

It's a good question and ask as much as you like.
