[3.17] Wallach's Hierophant Freezing Pulse Totems (No Further Updates)

Preliminary 3.10 changes are up now. Ultimately, not a lot has changed for this build in 3.10, and what is changing isn't a completely known factor just yet (cluster jewels). I've got the tree set up for 13 points worth of cluster jewel stuff, but I can't really do a lot more than that until we see exactly how the mod groupings work and I know exactly what kind of jewels we can roll.

On the plus side, that means it is a very known quantity and should be a good league starter, especially if you've played it before.
Please,keep changing this build. I'll start in Delirium.
Had a blast with this build last league, thank you for updating it for 3.10 aswell :)

Hi, any thoughts on arcane cloak for this build?

Edit: Watched the update video where you addressed this. Sounds like you're unsure about the high mana cost and may just keep steelskin for now.

With loads of currency, which of your two builds do you expect will do the most Shaper damage? Freezing Pulse or Holy Flame Totem?

It's not that bad since Mind Over Matter builds take less damage from Labyrinth traps due to how they're calculated, but I'm sure there are better builds for that specific purpose.

Hm... I'm not sure yet what kind of damage levels you could scale Holy Flame Totem up to. If I had to guess, just in terms of raw paper DPS Holy Flame Totem would probably win if currency was no object, though at those same levels I'd probably rather play Freezing Pulse for the faster clear speed.

I'm planning a similar build (Ice Spear FTW) and came here to get some inspiration... and maybe give some!

I've noticed your last support gems are pretty meh (looking at you Added Cold Damage) and can be replaced by Inspiration Support Gem for basically free. Less mana per totems and more damage. EZ PZ.
In case you are wondering, "Totems, Minions, Mines cannot gain Inspiration Charges" doesn't mean they cannot give Inspiration Charges. The Player has them and thus the Skill does more damage.

Yeah, I actually do know Inspiration works for totems, but I have never gotten around to doing controlled testing to see the actual uptime when linked to totems.

With Inspiration linked we have a totem cost of ~87, so we've already spent just over half the 800 mana threshold just getting to the 5 charge cap, right? So we'd blow the Inspiration charge stack another 5 casts later.

The actual relative uptime is going to vary wildly (i.e. you may get a long set of sustained DPS from your 3rd/4th casts at max stacks in a boss encounter before needing to refresh your totem, can manipulate stacks during certain phase transitions), but such a high base cost skill feels like one of the poorer use cases for Inspiration generally.

Not to say it isn't competitive considering base Added Cold Damage isn't a particularly good gem either (though I wouldn't give up the Awakened level 5 version, maybe instead for Increased Critical Strikes), but I'm not sure it's a clear upgrade either.
