Hey folks, can anyone tell me what the single target damage is like on this build. Been eyeing your builds for a while now Wrecker. Tossing up between this one and trigger happy for 3.9 league start.
Hey Acme_Havoc,

I don't trust PoB as gospel, but it's by far the best program I can find without doing all the math on paper. So take this with a grain of salt cause it may change when the 3.9 Patch Notes come out...the Passive Tree may have to change as well. So the following are the DPS #'s with 3.8's tree, for 3.9 ;):

- Dodging Cyclone is currently at 272'000 DPS (Average Damage is 18'100 x 15 Attacks per Second)
- Trigger Happy is at 480'000 (Bladestome's attack is 51'000 x 3.3 attack speed while each Storm (in Blood Stance) is 25'000 x 3.3.)

Obviously all the other defensive details have their own set of pros and cons, but this is PoB DPS for 3.9 with 3.8's tree.

Hi Wrecker, thanks for the reply. (Facepalm) Never thought to check POB. About time i learned how to use that tool beyond copying and pasting builds. I've found a guide. I'll check it out.

Think everyone is hanging out for 3.9 patch notes. I love the leagues (not so much blight) but this one has gone on too long. looking forward to dying lots to the bosses i build :p for the next 3 months.

On a side note, wanted to call out the patience and respect you show in your responses and posts. One of the reasons i wanted to try one of your builds. Keep up the good work.
Loose ends / Maps: "The only mod we need to avoid is Reflecting Elemental Damage." This may be a stupid question, but can somebody explain me why? With this build I thought we have to avoid reflected physical damage?

No no, you're right. I meant to say physical. I'll change it right away.

It takes a load off my mind ;-) I still don't understand some of the mechanics in PoE, but this did feel strange.

Thank you very much for this fantastic build. Pure 1 button fun. The speed is spectacular / breathtaking - and I only reached lvl 65!

Hey Acme_Havoc,

PoB is a fun tool to play around with, but it's missing quite a few mechanics, here and there, that really limit anyone's ability to min/max. I'm not complaining at all, as I really appreciate the program and I use it all the time. But my point is, it's good to play with, but not marry yourself to. Many people use PoB like a bible...I don't suggest that route ;). And don't worry about not checking the PoB links. I haven't posted the 3.9 trees I've done for both builds anyway. So only I could have answered your question anyway.

I can't wait for the 3.9 patch notes!

And thank you very much for your kindness. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks for taking the time to be so kind and encouraging. Thank you.

Thanks Corabh,

I appreciate you pointing it out. I just fixed it.

Feel free to ask any questions regarding PoE. I'll answer as quick as I can, and many others are always willing to help as well.

Thanks for your kindness. I'm really glad you're enjoying it! If you have any feedback for me, I'm all ears. Thanks for the encouragement!

My apologies if I missed it; but what skill do you recommend to use for leveling until Cyclone is available?

Also: Pride can be purchased in Act 3 at the same point as Temporal Chains; no need to wait for Library.

Thanks again for all you do Wrecker_of_Days! :)

Hey Chima,

It's always a pleasure :). You didn't miss it. I don't have any suggestions really. Everyone levels with different preferences and habits. As far as I remember, I only have levelling suggestions if it's REALLY needed. But that being said, I think Frost Blades is perfect. You get it right away (level 4), it has a decent range, and who doesn't love chilling enemies :).

Regarding Pride, thanks! I'll see if I can change it on the wiki :|. I'll change it in the guide right away.

As always, thank you for your encouragement. I really appreciate it! Thank you.

Hey all, after a week playing this to act 10 here's my thoughts...

I'm a league player but decided to play this one in standard since i had the currency and access to gear to get it to a decent level reasonably quickly. I was looking at this build for a league starter in 3.9.

Once i got this build going it's a lot of fun. It's fast, reasonably tanky, and other than phys reflect there's not too much it couldn't do fully maxed i expect. Once i got to act 4 deaths where few and far between. Bleed got me a couple of times and the odd bad luck with mechanics in boss fights. I'm just your average every day player so that's more on me than the build.

I went claws for the life gained on hit and because most unique claws are cheap and already have a ton of phys damage built in. Since i was on full life most of the time, and because close combat doesn't support claws, i changed it for damage on full life.

Here is my modified version of Wrecker's build.
https://pastebin.com/61XzXvh9
Character: RotaRanger to see the gear and gem setup.

A couple of things i struggled with. Mana sustain early to mid acts with cyclone drove me nuts. At one point i was running 3 mana flasks. There are not a lot of mana and int nodes in the build tree. In the end i equipped a Praxis which helped a lot until i could equip my -x to total mana cost rings. The shortfall in attributes was also an issue for me. You'll see i equipped a Astramentis which solved this. I suspect with a lot of playing around, it would be possible to get the right rare gear to solve both these issues.

To me the above aren't deal breakers, just things to be wary of. Wrecker has already pointed out the attribute shortfalls anyway so it shouldn't be a surprise.

Personally, I wont play this build as a league starter because i lack the skills to get over the challenges i had very easily beyond buying expensive unique gear. Again this reflects me as a player, not the build.

If i was staying in Standard League i'd keep at this build. The potential is huge. There is a lot more to do including farming the Cyclone damage helm enchant, steel rings for added phys damage. I'd work on a better amulet that has some more damage. I'd try free up a couple of points in the tree to socket jewels. I'd probably play with a queen of the forest set up for even more speed. The build is so tanky i'd probably drop a couple of defense nodes for extra damage which is something i don't normally consider. Finally i'd probably try and figure out how to make this a chaos damage build cause i really like them, and because chaos damage doesn't reflect. Personal preference of course.

Finally, thanks again for sharing your build Wrecker. Been a privilege and a lot of fun putting it into practice.

Acme
On the mana sustain while leveling - take all 3 mana leech nodes and things will be much less frustrating. I only need to pop a mana pot on occasion when I'm fighting a unique enemy all by itself. This is probably because my gear and dps is horrible cause I'm rocking whites or really low level yellows.

This is going to be my 3.9 league starter.

Edit: "Act 3 - A Fixture of Fate - Purchase - Level 34 - Immortal Call" - we can't buy this as Ranger until we get to Act 6 from Lily.
