Can you explain this a bit more for someone who's never played spectres before and what change would be made to our malevolence gem setup?

You simply replace Holy Relic with Raise Spectre. You get limit of 2 spectres, so you buy 2 Dark Marionettes https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Affliction/4d6v7nEH9 and then simply use Raise Spectre skill on the corpses on ground. And thats it.

What a great tech! This has been a fun build with all the little things. I'm blasting maps now and doing juiced content. I see that at one point this was a self-cast build rather than totems. If I wanted to play this as self cast/attack, what gem swaps would you make and tree changes? Would you still use totems for bossing or do a manaforge setup? Thank you!

It was self cast build before they changed how SA pods cluster. And them removing helmet enchant as well this league makes self cast regular SA pretty much unplayable as it heavily relied on enchant. Best way atm would be on "self-cast" setup to use SA of menace for clear and then either SA ballistas or CA ballistas for single. CA ballistas do more damage tho and when you are only using ballistas for single they are mostly better than SA.

Fun times with the self cast tho .. Was one of my best chars i ever had during Legion i think it was.

Holy relic is supported by meat shield and guardian blessing. After you summon your holy relic, you activate malevolence. Guardian blessing causes your minion to take damage as a percentage of their life. In other words, when you turn on malevolence your holy relic slowly loses life and dies. For 3.23 (I just asked this), instead of holy relic you use raise spectre and you get two dark marionette spectres (buy from wildwood vendor or trade site) and use these instead since these spectres resummon themselves when they die so you're not constantly spamming your holy relic. It's a great little tech for this league.

hey, i don't know if that was why my spectres died, but i changed ascendency in the forest and they died and didn't respawn, so beware if you are going to change ascendecy in the forest while having spectres on, also they didn't appeared in hideout as corpses, as it should be in srs build

how about Void Manipulation Support instead of Return Project?
