(3.14) Toxic Rain + Caustic Arrow | 5-10m Sirus DPS | Fast + Durable | 50c Budget/SSF Uber Elder

What is better on bow and quiver - additional arrow or (chaos) damage over time multiplier?
to add, the guide does state that your bow is the thing you should be investing your most into and focus on the most. There is actually a pretty simple craft that you can do depending on your budget for bows. Harvest crafting has made it a bit more easier so there are many ways to get to it, but im going to be crafting the standard 10ex chaos DoT bow which is a Maraketh bow(10% movement speed implicit). Steps are roughly as follows:
ilvl82+ Maraketh Bow without influence, 6L + 6 socket it (quality crafts can and will reduce the amount of jewellers and fusings you need to use, so delve fossil crafts for quality + bench quality crafts help here a lot) Then you can strip the bow to normal again, transmute, keep rolling alts until you hit T1 chaos over time (of liquefaction). Then upgrade to rare(regal), anull so only chaos over time is left. If you miss the anull, go back and get the DoT again and repeat to rare so DoT is left, craft multi on bench once rare with DoT mod with cannot roll attack and slam it with an ex to get +1 level of socketed gems. Then remove crafts on bench, add multi mod, +2 to supports, and craft DoT. With harvest you can target augment attack speed or other modifiers onto your already great DoT bow. Similar for thicket bow 5ex version, but you roll alts for +1 gems instead and then multi-mod the support and DoT.

This part can be simplified with harvest.

Regal:
- if prefix, vast majority of them can be removed with "remove attack modifier" no need to annul, only things that cannot is +bow gems I think then you can beast craft "remove prefix add suffix"
- if suffix from regal or from beastcraft above, check if it's something removable with harvest (resists, attack mods, etc.), if yes, keep it until you ex slam and then harvest remove after
- if NO and you rolled stun or dexterity etc. then annul but this is the worst case scenario

I'd take dot multi first because it always adds damage, additional arrows mostly add map clear (from various tests I've seen people conduct, extra arrows land on the outside ring of TR increasing its total coverage but not in the center so they don't increase your single target). If you can take both, then sure do, faster mapping and all.

On what exactly? All your gear is super plain except +1 dex amulet (best item if you can transition it into harvest crafted one), dying sun and the 2 uniques that this build doesn't even normally use (hyrri and asenath).

You don't have lvl 21 toxic rain, your rings don't have -mana cost crafts so I don't know how do you sustain mana on bosses, the bow is something I wouldn't even pay 1ex for especially since corrupted, atziri's step with decent rolls is around 20c atm.

Awakened gems you can wait until the price drops more, yday void manipulation was 50c and the other 2 around 160c each.

Anyway importing your character as it is into POB fork it says you have 780k dps assuming 3-pod overlap pre-wither and 1,3mil at max wither stacks. Also that doesn't count mirage archer which adds 27% more dps.

Also chaos builds can shave some of the expenses through harvest, contrary to let's say minion builds that have no targeted crafts. Pretty sure many meta builds struggle with boss damage without investment, for example the most popular volatile dead is amazing for map clear but meh for bosses unless you go lowlife.

Regarding the awakened gems, what is the final call on awakened swift afflication? I feel like for TR where skill duration actually matters, the decreased duration will lead to a DPS decrease in my situations.

Imagine getting my gear in the first two weeks, things are a premium. It cost a lot unless you drop this stuff yourself and most league starts you won't. You either settle with dying non-stop and doing even shitter damage in early red maps or you buy stepping stone gear so you can comfortably do red maps.

I mean yes you could wait a month and things should be cheaper but that's another problem in itself.

I slot in Mana Pot + Despair Flask for bosses that need it. Regular Map bosses are w/e 1~2 minutes isn't a big deal. However, trying to do Sirius has been a nightmare.

I honestly think it's my shit 2.68 APS.

Asenath Chant is just better DPS and Map Coverage than the Vertex. Unless you really need the defensive stats from the Vertex, I would say Asenath Chant with Soulrend is a very cheap option for a DPS increase for bossing + mapping.

Cost Analysis for DPS items.

1. Empower 4 = 3+ ex,
2. Toxic Rain at least level 21 (50c),
3. Getting +1 to Chaos Gems (+1 ex value, if I spam aug chaos to get the roll, this would be ridiculously expensive without Harvest you know that 100%),
4.An actual bow with the right rolls 5ex+ (6 link + crafts have a set in stone price)
5.The awakened gems have never dropped to the prices you mentioned in the past 2 weeks. I've watched their prices once a day.... in total their still 3ex+ for the entire set.
6. I can see going for a Carcass Jack will increase DPS but not enough.

Yeah, that's easily 10ex+ right now, no way around it.

Thank you for doing the POB calc for me. I'm just having a hard time believing I'll jump from what you calculated to 5m DPS by throwing more EX at this build.

I got a bow for 6ex and lvl 21 toxic rain, my damage still feels lacking in higher tier content, what should I look on getting now.

Yeah you should not be buying specific uniques like Hyrri's chest, Vertex, Atziri's step, dying sun or anything like than on week1. Typicaldemon (author of this guide) posted few pages ago his gear at the time of killing Sirus and it was still pretty early in the league and he had mostly rare gear because buying specific uniques on week 1 or 2 is throwing currency down the drain.

If you don't wanna search the thread this is his pastebin he linked:
https://pastebin.com/YiRnACXd

As you can see, he has good crafted bow but outside of thread of hope no uniques gear. He also has empower 3 at the time of posting.

A more scuffed version of the bow can be done with fossil crafting or even cheaper essence crafting on an imperial base from divination cards, it's a very budget option that can carry until mid-red tier maps.

You could have geared for 1ex and saved the other 4 towards crafting the best bow.

Yeah, but harvest allows to abuse the much more reliable chaos crafting, so you can do that, the same as delirium allowed to abuse OP cluster jewels (which got nerfed in 3.11). It's a gimnick of current league.

My point was since you already have a +1 dex amulet it's probably the best starting situation to craft an amulet, if you had a +1 chaos one that would be same value in another league but in this one +1 dex is much better. So that's why I said your amulet is probably your best item, it is probably worth at least 1ex for what it is.

I literally checked yday and for some reason trade site lists 1ex below 160c despite 1ex > 160c. Today I see vicious proj for 140 and swift affliction for 180.

Yeah, the biggest expenses are always the bow and empower 4. No way around it. Best bow costs at least 7ex to craft and likely more if you're unlucky with alts and harvest crafts, and outside of harvest it will be again extremely hard to get the perfect bow, people paid 30-40ex for perfect one in delirium (even though I think the upgrade from 10ex bow to 30ex bow is not worth the price difference imo).

It's up to you if you wanna invest further or move onto something different.

If you wanna keep investing, bow and amulet are 2 things for the most value, bow craft from scratch and amulet start from +1 dex gems and spam harvest chaos mods.

P.S. Yes, Typicaldemon's POB has 3.45 attack rate. Keep in mind that's without the attack speed craft on the bow because I think he did it before buffs to harvest when you could see augment once in a thousand seeds. So with attack speed craft on bow would be even better. He has a lot of attack speed jewels there. If you think that's the best way to up your current damage, you can focus on that.

It's worth it when you can afford it. The quality on that gem gives +10% chaos multi while normal swift affliction doesn't, and it should help in overall damage. However it's atm the most expensive out of 3 awakened gems we can use so if you have other cheaper and more significant upgrades in the build, do them before upgrading to awakened gems.

I might have to just come to terms that I need to wait longer instead of forcing myself to try and push my gear asap.

I've been trying this build for so long and I always give up. It's a superb map runner so I always run my maps with it then I make a dedicated boss killer.

Yet I see so many people succeed with this build and I'm like it's time I asked for help because I obviously have no idea how this should work.

I think my next step will be getting my Toxic Rain to level 30 since that's fairly straight forward with my current gear.

My last question since you've answered everything else, what's your opinion on multiple totems support for Wither? Do you think it ramps up much faster compared to just one totem and is worth the 4th link?

Yes, definitely multiple totems is worth it, it's 1 totem vs 3 so it ramps triple as fast, also quality both the totem and the multiple totem gem it speeds up the totem cast time a lot so you're much less locked in the placement animation.

Each wither stack afaik has individual duration akin to poison and unlike frenzy charges (which extend themselves) so with 1 totem the old ones might be expiring before you even get it to max stacks. That should definitely up your single target damage.

If that works for you, sure. But tbh, what kind of good boss killer you can make for cheap nowadays? Miner? Cyclone? I have seen so many "meta" builds (from VD necro to BV assassin) being described as "amazing map clear but Sirus is a pita to do" I'm not even sure what people build as boss killer nowadays. Kinda curious.
