Good day!

So it looks like a lot of you higher level exiles are using very different gems in staff as opposed to guide. Even the author is not using what's listed on page 1. I'm curious if there will be a change to which set-up is "most recommended," for both clearing and boss weapons.

Also, I have 2 staffs, one has 17% and the other 18% to increased Int. How significant is that 1% difference?

Thanks for any replies, I'm level 88 and really enjoying the build! I tried the scion version for a short time during one of the previous race events, didn't have the time to get high level there, but it was fun!

Kelvynn had a very busy December and didn't have time to work on this build. Over the course of January, he'll have much more time to test things out in-game and adjust the OP accordingly.

You want to use the 18% staff for bosses and use the 17% for your clearing staff. 1% does matter against the end game bosses, but trash mobs are trash mobs.
Hi,
how important it is to get 75% resistances? Or is int even more important than that?

Breken, thank you so much for taking time and writing this. Helps a lot!

The only question that I still have is how everyone doesn't have a single gear item with mana regen, all have 5L staves and still manage to run 3 auras and not run out of mana in 1 sec...

The answer is very simple: for clearing trash use boots with lab enchant :0.6% of damage leech as life and mana if you killed recently. This will solve your problem
For bosses this does not apply but in the bosses staff you need only level 1 Winter Orb linked with only CwC - the mana cost is very small and you wont get out of mana while fighting bosses.

If not the enchant {cruel has .4%, merc has .5%) - the eleron carfted prefix -# to mana cost of skills helps pull down the amount of mana you're spending.

Others have answered that but three things help you sustain mana.

1. Our massive INT results in a naturally very high mana pool, this means our default mana regen is very high.

2. I personally use a -7 mana cost to skills ring. This ring means that my 5L Winter Orb setup uses 8 mana per cast. I can sustain it just with that ring. My bossing staff setup (WO only linked to cast while channeling) uses ZERO mana because of this ring.
(One additional note... with a -7 mana cost to skills ring, you will need a lvl 21 Frost Bomb in order to trigger Arcane Surge with one cast)

3. Life and mana leech enchant on boots. This enchant takes away any remaining issues with mana while clearing, or when on no regen maps.

You should always have 75% total resistances on endgame gear.

The only exception is if you are ALWAYS running with someone who has the purity aura(s) running to cap your res. IMO, hitting at least 75% on your base resistances should come before a few points of Int to be sure.

I'm not sure if one ring with -8 to -9 is quite enough and that costs 1ex per craft so I went with the cheaper version on both rings instead.

Quick FYI: just one ring with -6-7 is ideal imo.

Why? Because it gets WO+CWC(+Hypo if needed) down to 0 mana cost, and doesn't break anything else - with that you can still use Arcane Surge (level 1) linked to Frost Bomb (level 21), if you get more than -7 mana cost, you need to figure out another way to get your Arcane Surge buff.

(And with a -6 you can use Arcane Surge level 2.)

Yeah I have gone a bit overkill because I don't have a warlords curse ring and I'm using the setup with a watcher's eye and vitality so mana is tight. I'm just getting my arcane surge from flame dash which is clunky but works out for the most part.
Yay managed to kill Uber Elder with this build.
My first kill on that massive particle cluster of a fight :D
Love this build. So durable. Only had to change Arctic Armor with Purity of Cold.
