5) It makes us almost completely invulnerable in pack of monsters, if we have watcher's eye with "gain 30 es on hit" mod

So, tl;dr, generally because we can benefit from the fact that it can "hit", and the fact that you can link multiple things to one ball lightning cwdt.

I made one couple days ago with my Scion (fire Version of kelvyns build). I supported the WO a bit more with GMP and inc duration. My gear is a Bit different becouse i Play standart and got legacy ES gear available. But this does mostly effect only icestorm damage and not WO damage.

Map is with EE, enfeeble and Additional monster resist.

First of all, love your guide it is very detailed! I am currently level 80 with your Scion version using Scorching Ray and fire based. I did see you planned to Occultist this League, but I stuck with Scion anyway. Which is working fine of course.

I did PM you a different question about the Immortal Call, I figured it out by the way :P

Now I am super curious how well the Winter Orb is working. And looking at your tree, it appears to be a fairly easy switch from my current Scorching Ray to Winter Orb and cold based. I only need to change a couple support gems and talents, which I am sure you are familiar enough with to agree, it's an easy switch.

Long question shorter, is the damage boost worth it even for me as a Scion to switch to Winter Orb? Would there be more of a damage boost on top of the fact I can actually level Winter Orb to 20 and it only costs 4 mana!!!

I am thinking it would be more damage for me. What are your thoughts?

Even with a -6 mana cost roll on a ring, it costs 6 mana. If I'm missing something I'd love to know :P

I swapped scorching ray with Winter Orb and been using it all day, no mana issues yet but since you commented. I did just look at at level 8 it costs 6 mana but its not draining my mana at all.

Winter Orb is definitely a lot better right now, I can turn faster with it which is real nice!

OH Also Winter Orb is not miss firing from terrain obstacles which was my only complain about Scorching Ray. So if I stay fire or move to cold, either way I am liking Orb better to trigger Icestorm!

Only lose like 200 ES vs the ring I was wearing. Had to buy a new ring

I feel as if I hit a wall. I am at 8000 energy shield now with discipline but I feel I did not do well with gearing this character. I am wondering if I should replace one of my rings with Malachai's Artifice, put a blue gem in and then gear without lightning resistance, unless there's another way and I am gearing wrong and I should just build currency?

I want to warn you, you better use lightning golem in that malachai artifice. If you are using herald of ice, then you have added cold damage to spells, so orb of storm will give you decrease in your damage instead (cause it will attack with lightning and cold damage simultaniously, so it will boost cold and lightning res of enemy).
Golem on the other hand is different entity, and not boosted by our heralds.

It's alll about the flat ES on your gear. I'm on my way to 9k ES here. 10k would be easy were it not for my 5k ES chest. We have to wait a few weeks, or luck out with fossils.

The base type of your rings though...Bad. Worthless : /. Just make more effort, plan ahead.
