so any ideas what to do with simulacrum 20? Is that chaos damage or physical?

The problem is, by swapping Kaom out my hp down down from 5500 to 4300. It's still 25-30% more ehp vs physical damage, but for spell damage or chaos damage it's an absolute rip.

I cant help you with Simulacrum wave 20 yet, sorry, but will be soon there testing.

There seems something wrong with your equipment or whatever.. I am level 92 and have 5115 life without Kaom and this isnt optimized yet, so i will have alot more.

so I got a Basalt flask with increased armor and reduced charges instead of Quicksilver here. With added Berserk, Grace and my mini MoM I run I died like once. Felt pretty tanky overall. 1 curse on manual cast.

Congratulations!
Two little things that might help you.
With Rallying cry on left mouse, IF I dont have enough mana , I dont move :(. That can be problematic on Baran maps, or against Baran itself and obviously in no regen maps. You said you have an extra socket on your build, so you can link Rallying Cry to Bloodmagic(or you can take the notable on the tree that make Warcries to cost zero mana)

The other thing is getting Rampage. Especially at Simulacrum , but it also makes you clear even faster. So if you can get Sinvicta on swap (with Warchief totem) or use the swaping belts trick , you get a pretty nice help there.

Hi, these are my suggestions for you

Spoiler
1. Change your Skirmish Quiver to a Rare one with the following

- 35%+ Crit Multiplier
- 37%+ increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
- 80+ Life
- 11%+ Attack Speed or one with Open Suffix(So we can craft 12% Attack Speed to it)

For the Quiver Base, a Penetrating or Spike-Point will be the most ideal.

2. Change your Tombfist Glove to a Rare one with the following

- 14%+ Attack Speed
- 481+ Accuracy
- 70+ Life(Or Open Prefix to craft 56-70 Life on it)

3. "Corrupted Blood cannot be inflicted on you" isn't as important for us as our totems does the damage. We can look for "Of Staunching" Suffix on a flask in those cases we get bleed/Corrupting Blood. With this, you can swap out Blight Ornament Cobalt Jewel to another rare Jewel. An ideal Rare Jewel to look for is as follows

Spoiler
Ideal Rare Jewel for our build

2 Prefix from below

- (14–16)% increased Damage with Bows
- (14–16)% increased Fire Damage
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Fire Skills
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Cold Skills
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Lightning Skills
- (12–16)% increased Totem Damage
- (Defensive option) (5–7)% increased maximum Life

2 Suffix from below

- (3–5)% increased Attack Speed
- (2–4)% increased Attack and Cast Speed
- (12–15)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Elemental Skills
- (9–12)% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier
- (10–12)% increased Projectile Damage

A Jewel with 4 Affixes above is as good as a DPS notable on the Passive Tree. Highest DPS will be a mix of Crit Multiplier + Attack Speed.

4. Dying Sun might not be helping as much as you are already using 9 Totems which means 27 projectiles and that probably provides a good enough area coverage. Could consider using a Diamond Flask, maybe with the Stanching Suffix for point 3.

5. If you still want to use Dying Sun, then consider switching your Silver Flask to a Diamond Flask as Diamond Flask gives us more DPS compared to a Silver Flask.

Hope that helps

Those are interesting ideas. Thanks for sharing them. And Congrats on your Simulacrum Completion :)

Hi, after loading your Pastebin, I allocated 4 Skill Points into the Cluster Jewel and that only takes 98 out of 123 possible Passive Skill Points. As your character profile is not public, I presume you are at around Level 75 or so.

At level 75, if you are following the Passive Tree Progression Section in my guide, we are still allocating Passives into Life in the Passive Tree and have not invest in much DPS Passives, thus we won't be high in our DPS. That said, our DPS should be good for the content(White Maps) we are doing unless you are like doing the Yellow/Red Maps at this point, then DPS will definitely be seriously lacking.

Our DPS starts to go up when we start to allocate more DPS Passives later so we will get to the point soon when we can handle higher level content :)

For now, here are some of my suggestions that you can consider for your equipment

Spoiler
1. We don't really have Mana Regeneration issues, so you can swap out the mana flasks for another Flask. If you go for DPS Flasks, you consider a Silver Flask with the Acceleration Suffix(8-12% Attack Speed) if you don't need any other suffix

2. Anoint your amulet, you can refer to "05 Recommended Anointment" section at the below link for the recommended ones.

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2224772/page/173#p22791192

3. Craft "(15–23)% increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills" on your Apocalypse Twirl Ruby Ring. If you happen to not have the Recipe, you can find it at Labyrinth Trial in The Catacombs in Act 3

4. I see you went for the Right Path for Lethality in your Passive Tree. The Left Path is a better choice and worth the 1 more point spent.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

- Updated Amulet Choice and it's comments under "03. Gear Changes" to Marylene's Fallacy as this amulet is very accessible in terms of price and at the same time, one of the top DPS Amulet we can use. For the +2 skill amulet, we will revisit it in the future when we look at end game items.

Older Updates
March 2020
Update(28th March 2020)
- Updated Pastebin and DPS numbers for "13. (Optional)Maximum DPS Edition" so it's now based on the same equipment use by the other Pastebins to make it easier for comparison. With this change, all pastebins are now using the same equipment except where changes is necessary to enable things like Additional Curses, etc.
- Added a Bow Setup in "13. (Optional)Maximum DPS Edition" that shows the Gems we can use after moving the "Frenzy Curse on Hit Gems Setup" to the 6L Body Armour.
- Updated "DPS Comparison for reference" under "04 Possible Gem Setup" section with DPS numbers.

Update(26th March 2020)
- Added a new "11. Budget Equipment Details" section, which I think gives a good overview for people new to this build, what budget items to get, when they start using Frostferno at Level 60.

Update(24th March 2020)
- Added back "10. Leveling Guide(Level 1 to 60)" which is now complete
- Added a note "Additional DPS Option" under the Single Curse Option in section "04. Possible Gem Setup" highlighting Vaal Haste(For the Vaal Haste part, not normal Aura) as an alternative for more DPS.
- Changed 3rd Curse under "13. (Optional)Maximum DPS Edition" section from Assasin's Mark to Elemental Weakness as it gives more DPS versus bosses. POB Updated.

Update(22nd March 2020)
- Added a note on the Amulet section under "03. Gears Changes" recommending Marylene's Fallacy as a good budget alternative to the +2 skill amulet. Also added a ranking of Amulet's DPS versus bosses following that for references.

Update(19th March 2020)
- Added a note at "Bug Alert!" Section on POB not allocating Skill Point to Passive/Notables in the Cluster Jewel when importing a Character
- Updated the order of the DPS Notable to get in "09. Passive Tree Progression"(Part 6)
- Added a note at the bottom on which character(Vei_Legion) in my account to refer to for very good gears example(Still have a lot that can be improved!)

Update(17th March 2020)
- Added a "Bug Alert!" Section
- Added "07. Cluster Jewel" section, replacing old "07 Passive Tree" section
- The following sections are updated with new info from using Cluster Jewels
-- 08. POB Pastebin(1 and 2 Cluster)(3.10)
-- 09. Passive Tree Progression
-- 11. (Optional)Maximum DPS Edition

Update(16th Mar 2020):
- Gem Setup in the Single Curse Option(Under "04. Possible Gem Setup" Section) Revised. Decided to remove War Banner and thus will make the Enlighten Level 3 unnecessary. This change opens up 2 socket where it can be used for

A. Blink Arrow which I think is very necessary for Terrain Movement
B. Allowing Increased Duration to be linked to Vaal Grace, extending its duration when activated

It also makes the setup more accessible as we don't need to look for Enlighten Level 3 anymore. POB Pastebin also updated to reflect this change.

Update(15th Mar 2020):
- Added a comment and URL which anyone can save to jump straight to this post at the top
- Removed "10 Leveling" section as it's still a work in progress with quite a number of missing info. I put it up again in the future after I complete it.

Update(13th Mar 2020):
- Updated all POB Pastebin(Now with Grace Aura enabled, was previously disabled)
- Added a "10 Leveling" Section for reference, it's a work in progress, might take a while to finish now that league is going to start!!

Update(12th Mar 2020): Updated all POB Pastebin to 3.10 already but seems like the Gem(Ballista Totem) in POB is still using the 3.9 version. DPS will go up once the gem is updated to 3.10. Have indicated the estimated new DPS at each Pastebin

Update(11th Mar 2020):
- Rewrote my comments on Sleepless Sentries in the "Cluster Jewel" Section
- Added a "Patch Notes" and "Summary" Section under "3.10(Delirium) comments"

Update(10th Mar 2020):
- Added a "3.10(Delirium) comments" section at the top of this post which I will update as more information is released/known.
- Added a "Cluster Jewel" Section under "3.10(Delirium) comments"

Update(3rd Mar 2020): Added a "Double Curse Option" Under "04 Possible Gem Setup" Section. Original Gem Setup labeled as "Single Curse Option"

Update(2nd Mar 2020): Added a note(Note 2) to clarify this is for temporary leagues with no access to legacy items

Before March 2020
Update(28th Feb 2020): Added a "Recommended Anointment" and "Stats in order of DPS boost" Section. Also added a "Table of Content" for reference as this post is getting quite long.

Update(22nd Feb 2020): Added a "Passive Tree Progression" Section

Update(21st Feb 2020): Rephrased note under Passive Tree/POB Pastebin

Update(9th Feb 2020): Added a "DPS Updateion" section

Update(8th Feb 2020): Added Glove suggestion under Gear Changes Section, swapped my Gems selection on Boots <-> Glove (They are interchangeable on both slots, so go with the one that is easier for you. I just put them this way as the colours are easier for me this way)

Update(22nd Jan 2020): Added POB Link and Gem Setup Section

Spoiler

- Currently POB doesn't allocate Skill Point to Passive/Notables in the Cluster Jewel when importing a Character.

- In the original POB, +skills on amulet(Other item slots are fine) is not working and not being reflected. No issues on Local Identity's POB Fork.

Summary

Spoiler
Overall no major changes(We got 2 good buffs!) and everything I suggested for 3.9 below is still relevant and can still be used, with 2 possible changes to it

1. Reallocating Ironwood Notable(and the Totem Life Passive right of it) in the Passive Tree somewhere.

2. Adjusting the Passive Tree to utilize the new Cluster Jewels.

I will update the above when testing is done for Point 1, and when POB is updated for Point 2

(Update(17th Mar)): Updates for both are done. Please refer to "08. POB Pastebin(1 and 2 Cluster)(3.10)" for the info.

Patch Notes

Spoiler

Nerf

Precision
Now grants 20% increased Critical Strike Chance to you and nearby allies at gem level 1 (from 40%), up to 58% at gem level 20 (from 59%).

The Critical Strike Chance nerf to our DPS is negligible and not really of a concern.

Buff

Ballista Totem Support
Now causes supported skills to deal 42% less damage at gem level 1 (from 50%), up to 33% less at gem level 20 (from 41%).

This is a Big DPS buff for us! Considering that this will be multiplied by 7 Totems, Hooray!

Base on my estimate, my 1m DPS POB should be now doing 1.16m DPS per totem projectile with this change.

All totems and ballistas now have approximately 50% more base life than previously

Nice that our totems can last longer now, perhaps the Ironwood Notable won't be as necessary now and that will give us 2 Passive Point to allocate to somewhere else.. *cough* Cluster Jewel *cough*..

Will have to play and test(on T16 A8 map) to find out how the totems fare without the Ironwood Notable.

(Update(17th Mar)): Totems seems to be doing fine without Ironwood

Other than the above, didn't see any other changes in the Patch Notes that affects our build so yup things looking great for 3.10 :)

Cluster Jewel

Spoiler

Considering that we have to path into less efficient Passives plus "use" a Jewel Socket to utilize a Cluster Jewel, the Cluster Jewel needs to offer something significant for us to be worth considering.

Notables of Interest

This DPS notable definitely stood out

Sleepless Sentries
20% increased Totem Damage
20% increased Totem Duration
Attack Skills have +1 to maximum number of Summoned Ballista Totems

But is it as good as it seems?

So I did some testing and base on the numbers, Sleepless Sentries is a small DPS increase. Thus to be worth investing into, it needs to be paired/rolled with at least another DPS Notable(or Jewel Socket), ideally one of the ones I mention in the next paragraph.

(Update(17th Mar)): Pairing Sleepless Sentries with the DPS mentioned in the next is not possible base on the Cluster Jewel Notables classification

Below are the next best DPS notables from the preview

Precise Commander
You and nearby Allies have 50% increased Critical Strike Chance
You and nearby Allies have +15% to Critical Strike Multiplier

Repeater
30% increased Projectile Damage
8% increased Attack and Cast Speed

Martial Prowess
20% increased Attack Damage
6% increased Attack Speed
15% increased Global Accuracy Rating
20% increased Damage with Ailments from Attack Skills

These are great DPS notables, though for them to be worthy enough, there need to be at least 2 plus some another DPS Notable(or Jewel Socket) before I would consider going for them.

(Update(17th Mar)): DPS increase not worth base on the Cluster Jewel Notables classification)

The following 2 are "Hybrids" (DPS + Something else) which I thought is worthy of note because of their "utility"

Shrieking Bolts
35% increased Projectile Damage
10% chance to Taunt Enemies on Projectile Hit

Decent DPS with the chance to taunt enemies which helps a lot with the super fast attack speed from Quill Rain.

Aerodynamics
Projectiles Pierce an additional Target
20% increased Projectile Speed
10% increased Projectile Damage

If you need piercing then this is definitely a decent option.

(Update(17th Mar)): A possible option if one wishes to go for the above utility in exchange for lower DPS

Cluster Jewel Location

Possible place to place the Cluster Jewel(2 Options)

1. To the Right of Avatar of Fire Keystone

- We get some DPS from 2 x Elemental Damage Passive
- 10 Int
- Requires 4 Passive Points

2. Lower Left of Point Blank Keystone

- We get some Evasion from 2 x Evasion Passive
- Requires 3 Passive Points(1 less than above)

The DPS gained from the 2 x 6% Elemental Damage passive from 1st option is quite small although the 10 Int is useful for us. By going for the second option, it saves us one Passive Point, which IMO is better.

(Update(17th Mar)): We will use up to both depending on Cluster Jewel Accessibility/Price

Just here to recommend this build.
You need a few changes, an other class, an other path and also other gear,
but you can get up to 100 k each totem by 6 totems with great survivability at all moments.
So far strongest build I ever played!

Hierophant is still great, though it seems like Ascendant is a possible choice to go for also. I agree with the other 2, passive tree and some gears need changes.

Firstly, big thanks to Lunasicc for sharing this amazing build(Started playing at 3.7) and a guy(KV_AMD_IST_KRIEG) I saw on POE Ninja(No longer visible) build this char differently for my current build inspiration. Lastly many thanks to others who threw in their various ideas in the thread replies which enhances the build.

Thank you!

I usually don't post in forum. Below is what I tested for myself during 3.9. The purpose of me writing/sharing this, is that, hopefully more people can throw in their ideas and make this build even greater!

Also I am not some expert in min maxing(Perhaps the experts can do an actual one to see what I mention below is best for this build). My very early initial testing was base on the DPS from the mouse over. Later on, all are done with POB.

Note 1: What I have written below is meant for people already familiar with this build. If you are a new person not familiar with the build, you might not understand what I write below. I recommend you get familiar with the build first before reading.

Note 2: What I have written is for temporary leagues. If you have access to legacy items, most importantly Legacy Chin Sol with "100%" more damage with Arrow Hits at Close Range, I think the original suggestion from first post is still pretty good and feel free to follow that instead.

Note 3: People who just want to find out the latest changes, you can skip to the "Gear Changes", "Passive Tree" and "Possible Gem Setup" section below. POB Pastebin of my build/gear is included for reference.

Note 4: All DPS examples in Section 1 and 2 below are hideout DPS with auras on, remaining are POB DPS.

With that said, let's begin :)

01 My "Testing" I did on standard

Spoiler

Note: My testing is not based on the original 9.6m damage with super equipment but rather with a decent amount of equipment I already have, and comparing the changes pre and post 3.9.

For testing before I start playing this build again in metamorph, I used my standard char. My standard char has about 100k dps before 3.9, but post 3.9 it became 45k in hideout.

Proceeded to revamp the passive tree and swapped old bow for a quill rain(No change to other gear and gems), my DPS became 78k

Old bow I swapped out for Quill Rain

Base on the above, the DPS number seems better overall in 3.9 with the 2 change(Bow + Passive Tree)

Pre 3.9 - 4 Totems X 100k dps is 400k dps
Post 3.9 - 7 Totems X 78k dps is 546k dps

*7 Totems comes from the following:

- 3 from Ballista Totem Gem
- 1 from Ancestral Bond(Passive Tree)
- 1 from Watchtowers(Passive Tree)
- 1 from Panopticon(Passive Tree)
- 1 from Pursuit of Faith(Hierophant Ascendancy)

Beisdes the numbers, playing style is a different one for sure since we can no longer place the totem at range, though in exchange, placement speed is almost instant now and after playing, I must say the "feeling" is much better compared to pre 3.9(At least for me)

So all looks good and I went ahead to play this build in metamorph.

******************************

02 DPS In Metamorph

Spoiler
My DPS in metamorph is currently 91k as can be seen in picture(Sorry can't figure out how to embed image)
(*Over 100k DPS now as of 20th Jan)

https://imgur.com/a/0QzxAId

7 Totems X 91k dps is 637k dps

Auras I used in picture for References are Grace, Flesh and Stone, War Banner and Precision(Level 2)

So much more DPS than my revamped standard char DPS of 546k as calculated earlier above and much much more DPS than pre 3.9's DPS of 400k

And this is not yet maxed out yet for me, there are still stuffs like double corrupted Frostferno, corrupted +%Dmg Kaom's Heart, and if I want to go more DPS route, e.g. Double Elemental Damage Belt, one more Opal Ring, Precision Watcher's eye, etc, though I don't really like to buy too expensive equipment(2 digit exalted pricing+++ kind), just my style.

I would say with the adjusted passive tree and gear, 55-65k hideout dps now is definitely possible on budget gears and that should be better compared to pre 3.9 budget gear DPS

******************************

03 Gear Changes
*That I am using currently which is different from the original build suggestion

Spoiler
Big changes

Bow: Quill Rain

- The new Ballista Totem seems to get more Damage and scales better from fast attack speed, thus Quill Rain fits perfectly.

- Also with King of the Hill notable on the passive tree, it's real fun to see some bosses get "knock backed" around(When the attack crits) with the insane speed(From Quill Rain) of 7 totems shooting at them ;)

Amulet: Marylene's Fallacy

- A Cheap Amulet which does lots of DPS because of it's very high Critical Multiplier % number. To get the maximum DPS out of it, we will need to use a Diamond Flask which is at the same time, also the best DPS Flask for us. Culling strike on Crit is another nice thing to have on the amulet especially when combined with the very Fast Attack Speed from using Quill Rain.

* With this change, there is no more shock from Yoke of Suffering so I use Summon Skitterbot for the Shock
* For Anoints, please refer to the "Recommended Anointment" Section

Quiver: A rare with ASPD, Crit Multiplier, Life, Elemental Damage with Attacks (Accuracy is good too, and Can go with penetrating Arrow Quiver for the piercing if you need)

- I choosed a rare quiver over +1 Totem Skirmish because I value the affixes from a rare. According to testing results, a rare quiver gives more overall DPS from 7 totems compared to overall DPS from 8 totems with Skirmish Quiver. That said, Skirmish is still decent as a budget option till we get a good rare quiver.

Glove: A rare with ASPD, Accuracy(Tier 1 if possible since Glove gives one of the highest), Life and some resist is good.

- Tombfist doesn't give anymore Attack Speed now so a rare glove with the above suggested affix works much better than a Tombfist. Also using a rare give us more Gem sockets, which we are already very tight on due to using Kaom's Heart on our Chest Slot.

Smaller changes

Boots: I went for a Hunter Influenced Boot with Projectile Pierce 2 Additional Target instead of %Totem Damage boots so I can save investing in Piercing Shots in the Passive Tree and have flexibility in which Quiver I use.

- Alternatively for piercing we can go for Projectile Pierce 1 Additional Target craft on Gloves(Need an open Prefix) or the Poacher's Aim Unique Jewel(Weak, Desperate option) if we can't get any boots/quivers with pierce.

- It's possible to roll both Totem Damage + Projectile Pierce 2 Additional Target on a Hunter + Shaper Influenced Boot. Though I haven't seen one on the market for sale yet and I am not a crafter, usually I just buy my equipment.

No significant changes for gears on the other gear slots.

Double Curse Option(More DPS, Costs more)
Spoiler

- Awakened Curse on Hit Support Gem Level 5

Whispers of Doom Anoint is much much cheaper compared to the gem but we will be missing on the DPS from Shaman's Dominion anoint which is pretty substantial.

05 Recommended Anointment(Added on 28th Feb 2020)

Spoiler
Expensive Options

- Whispers of Doom

(Oils required - Golden + Golden + Black)

- Required if you use 2 Curse without a Level 5 Awakened Curse on Hit support Gem

- Shaman's Dominion(Best DPS for Single Curse)

(Oils required - Silver + Azure + Clear)

- Best DPS Option if budget is not a concern and you are only using 1 Curse.

Budget Options

- Master Fletcher

(Oils required - Crimson + Verdant + Sepia)

- Go for this if you have not allocated it yet in your Passive Tree

- Divine Judgement

(Oils required - Black + Teal + Sepia)

- Take this if you already have Master Fletcher in your Passive Tree

******************************

06 My Current Gear Overview

Spoiler

I personally prefer a balance between Life/DPS/Max Resist(Chaos is near max or max) thus the belt has less damage mods.

Also I keep 1 ring as resist and another as DPS so I can swap out the DPS rings when I need utility like say Timetwist Ring for Temporal Chains map, etc and also so that the catalyst can have the best effect on them.

******************************

07 Cluster Jewels(Added on 17th Mar 2020)

Spoiler

For Cluster Jewels, what we are interested in is the Medium Cluster Jewel because this is the only size Sleepless Sentries Notable can be found at

Sleepless Sentries
20% increased Totem Damage
20% increased Totem Duration
Attack Skills have +1 to maximum number of Summoned Ballista Totems

Sleepless Sentries Notable is also only found on Medium Cluster Jewel with 12% increased Totem Damage Enchantment.

Ideal Cluster Jewel

An ideal Medium Cluster Jewel with Sleepless Sentries will be as follows:

Implicit

Adds 4 Passive Skills (Can range from 4-6)

5 is also ok, we just take the shorter path to get all the Notable + Jewel Socket. Avoid 6.

Affixes

Prefix 1 - Sleepless Sentries
Prefix 2 - Snaring Spirits(1st choice) or Ancestral Echo(2nd choice)
Suffix 1 - 1 Added Passive Skill is a Jewel Socket

Examples

If you happen to be using 2 Medium Cluster Jewel then use 1 Snaring Spirit and 1 Ancestral Echo as Hinder doesn't stack and Ancestral Echo gives slight bit more DPS than Snaring Spirits.

******************************

08 POB Pastebin(1 and 2 Cluster)(3.10)
*When at Level 100 with 2 Passive Points from Act 2 Bandit Quest

Spoiler
1 Cluster Jewel(Default Choice for this Build)

https://pastebin.com/r2sy2Fdm

2 Cluster Jewel(Slight bit more DPS at max Totems)

https://pastebin.com/cKaaAzaa

*Note1: Currently when importing characters, POB doesn't allocate the Skill Point on Cluster Jewels so we have to assign them overselves.

*Note2: In the original POB, +skills on amulet(Other item slots are fine) is not working and not being reflected so the actual DPS should be much higher. No issues on Local Identity's POB Fork.

DPS for reference(at Max Totems)

1 Cluster Jewel(8 Totems) - 9.2m
2 Cluster Jewel(9 Totems) - 9.54m

******************************

09 Passive Tree Progression(For 1 Cluster Jewel)

Passive Tree Progression below is base on leveling a new character with Holy Flame Totem till Level 60(Earliest we can equip Frostferno) then we will switch to using Elemental Hit with Frostferno.

Spoiler
1. Go for Ancestral Bond Keystone straight (Quite direct path no variation here) so we can start casting 2 Holy Flame Totems.

2. Go for Avatar of Fire Keystone.

Note: This is for Holy Flame Totem, if you are using Elemental Hit, you might want to postpone getting the Keystone till you get and socket both Combat Focus Jewels

3. The most boring part, establishing the main path in the Passive Tree. Go down all the way, then to the right, then up, taking all the Strength + Dexterity passives until you reach Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics and take them.

Meanwhile while you are doing point 3 above.

3A. When you manage to get a Rain of Splinter Jewel, go for a Jewel Socket to socket it in.

4. Now we will be preparing to get ready when we can use Elemental Hit with Frostferno at Level 60 so we will be going for Panopticon and Watchtowers Notable

Meanwhile while you are doing point 4 above.

4A. Go for 2 Jewel Socket, ideally a few levels before Level 60 so we can socket in the 2 Combat Focus(1 Crimson and 1 Viridian) when we convert to using Elemental Hit with Frostferno Helm at Level 60.

Note: For the 5 Jewel Socket we will be taking base on the final Passive Tree

- Viridian Combat Focus Jewel can be socketed at any of the 5 Jewel Socket except the one near Point Blank.
- Crimson Combat Focus Jewel should not be socketed at the Jewel Socket besides the Fervour Notable as it will not work if it's socketed in there. It also should not be socketed at the one near Point Blank. It can go into any of the remaining 3 Jewel Socket.

5. Now it's time to take all the Life Passives to increase our survivability which means taking

Purity of Flesh, Barbarism, Golem's Blood, Bloodless, Herbalism, Juggernaut, Thick Skin Notables.

Pretty flexible which notable you get first, above is a possible order if anyone wants one.

6. Now that our survivability is taken care of, it's DPS time! Take the DPS Notables in this order

Cluster Jewel Notables (If you already have the Cluster Jewel)

6A. Sleepless Sentries
6B. Snaring Spirit/Ancestral Echo (Whichever you have on your Cluster Jewel)
6C. Jewel Socket(If you have a good jewel)

Passive Tree Notables

6D. Lethality
6E. Acuity
6F. Lava Lash
6G. King of the Hill
6H. Master Fletcher
6I. Heartseeker

Note: Take the last Jewel Socket besides Fervour when you get a good Jewel.

Feel free to adjust anything above as your need requires.

******************************

10 Leveling Guide(Level 1 to 60)

Spoiler
For leveling(Starting of new league), we can consider using Holy Flame Totem(As what we spec in our Passive Tree is useful to Holy Flame Totem) to level till Level 60, which is when we can switch to and use Frostferno(Be sure to have both the Combat Focus Jewel plus Rain of Splinters Jewel before you switch)

Note that this is not meant to be the fastest/efficient/best, etc, leveling method and is just put here for reference in case someone needs an idea/guide for leveling. Obviously, if you have twink equipments, currencies or personal preferences, go with whatever works best for you :)

Leveling Part 1(Level 1 to 40+)

Spoiler

Before we start, I would recommend looking out for either Wanderlust or Nomic's Storm Unique boots as we level, as these helps a lot not only in movement speed but also other things, Dex/Resist from Nomic's Storm, Cannot be Frozen from Wanderlust.

Level 1 to 4

- Twilight Strand - Pick up and use Glacier Hammer, link to Ele Proliferation when we get it from the shining box.
- Lioneye's Watch - Take the Molten Strike Gem reward from Tarkleigh, link it to Ele Proliferation and use it until level 4.

Level 4 to Level 40+

When we complete the Act 1 "Breaking Some Eggs" quest, we will get Holy Flame Totem as the reward and can start using when we are Level 4.

We will link Holy Flame Totem this way as we get the gems and required links on our equipment (In order from Top to bottom)

1) Holy Flame Totem
2) Summon Phantasm
3) Infused Channelling
4) Combustion
5) Added Fire Damage

Source for Gems

- Holy Flame Totem (Available as Reward from Act 1 Breaking Some Eggs)
- Summon Phantasm (Can be purchased from Nessa with 1 Scroll of Wisdom after completing Act 1 Mercy Mission)
- Infused Channelling (Available as Reward from Act 1 Mercy Mission Quest)
- Combustion/Added Fire Damage (Both are Available as Reward from Act 1 The Caged Brute Quest, buy the other one from Nessa for 1 Orb of Transmutation if you have a 5 Link Body Armour that can socket the 5th gem)

Also get a Clarity gem, which will be rewarded from Act 1 The Caged Brute Quest, helps tons in the mana regeneration needed.

Crafting Fire Damage Wands for DPS boost

Along the way, at the following levels, 8/14/20, we will make Fire Damage to Spells Wands which provides a significant DPS boost to Holy Flame Totem's DPS.

Here's a video you can watch to see how to create the wand and other details. Note that in the video he uses Topaz Ring which is for Lightning Damage, we will instead be using Ruby Ring as we requires Fire Damage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUSltx2INl0

The above should take you to Level 40+ without much issue.

Getting Recipe from Act 3 Crematorium

When you reach Act 3 Crematorium, be sure to pick up the following crafting recipe there which gives

"Adds (12–16) to (23–27) Fire Damage to Spells" to one handed weapon

It is critical to increasing our DPS later on.

Leveling Part 2(Level 40+ to 60)

Spoiler
Level 40+ to Level 60

At around Level 40-50, we will look for 2 things

1. Two Cheap Rare One Handed Weapons with

- "+1 to Level of all Fire Spell Skill Gems"
- Have an Open Prefix available
- Not corrupted
- Doesn't have any type of "added damage to spells(Regardless of elements) on it"
- (Optional) Some other helpful affixes on them
- That costs less than 1c each preferably since we are just using them till level 60

Important!

*Make sure both weapons are of the same type, e.g. 2 Wands or 2 Sceptres or 2 Daggers as we cannot dual wield different type of these weapons.
*Take note of the Int and Dex and Level requirements of the weapon and make sure you are able to equip them.

Once you get both weapons, craft the "Adds (12–16) to (23–27) Fire Damage to Spells" we got earlier at Crematorium on the weapons. Each craft requires 4 Orb of Transmutation.

Question: Why don't we do the above earlier?

Answer:

1. The Crematorium recipe gives lesser added fire damage compared to the Level 20 wand we crafted and +1 to Holy Flame Totem doesn't give as much DPS when it's still low level. Thus, it won't be much DPS increase if we do this earlier.
2. Early on, our attributes are still low and thus limited in the weapons we can find and use on the trade website.
3. By waiting till later we also have access to higher level weapons plus also more affixes which means better value for our currency.
4. Our DPS is still great for the content we are facing at the lower levels.

Thus we do this after we are level 40+.(Can search in advance for the above plus the rings below of course!)

2. Two Xopec(Regenerate (5–7) Mana per second) Affix Rings

*If you are sustaining enough mana to cast the Holy Flame Totems with Mana Flask then this will be optional.

These have a minimum level requirement of 40. Look for ones with resist if the increase in price is not a lot. Keep the cost to max 2c as we will only be using them till Level 60.

These Rings will help alleviate Mana required from frequent casting of the higher Level Holy Flame Totem which Clarity alone won't be able to keep up with later.

Example of Xopec Rings

Once you got both the above done, you will reach Level 60 easily without any problems.

11. Budget Equipment Details(To get this build going at Level 60)

Spoiler

The below equipment will cost around 40c in total, according to prices 12 days into 3.10 league. These will serve us well till we reach yellow maps. Most equipment are 1c or less with the exception of Frostferno which is around 20c.

Required Core Equipment

Spoiler
Helm

- The Main Item which this build is build around with.

Unique Jewels

Combat Focus(Crimson and Viridian)

- These Jewels are needed so Elemental Hit only chooses Fire Damage.

Rain of Splinters

- This Jewel is for letting Elemental Hit Ballista Totem fire 3 projectiles each time, just like Lesser Multiple Projectiles, but with a smaller penalty and just taking a Jewel slot instead.

Remaining Equipment
Spoiler

Main Hand and Offhand
Main Hand

- The bow which works very well with Ballista Totem. It will be used all the way till end game.

Offhand

- Skirmish(High Int) works well until we find a decent rare quiver with some Crit Multiplier(30%+) + Elemental Damage with Attacks(31%+) + Life(70+) to upgrade to, best with an open suffix so we can craft attack speed on it.

Armour
Body Armour

- A rare one with 140+ life(and % Max life if able) and some resist. We will use this till we upgrade to Kaom's Heart.

Glove

- A rare one with Attack Speed(11%+) and Accuracy(351+) preferably with an open Prefix so we can craft life on it if it doesn't have one.

Boot

- Gang's Momentum works great with our build. Look for one with a high Fire Resist(55%+) and decent damage(30%+). Use this meanwhile until we find a nice Boot with Projectile Pierce 2 Target.

Accessory
Amulet

This amulet will be used all the way till late end game. Look for one with high Crit Multi(235%+) Also needs to be paired with a Diamond Flask to bring out the max DPS from it.

Belt

- We will be getting bulk Resists from our belt. Look for one with 90%+ total Resist with open Prefixes so we can craft life on them

Rings

- Like with the Belt, We will be getting bulk Resists from Rings so look for 2 rings, each with 110%+ total Resist(Look for the ones that help you reach at least 75% in all resist(except Chaos)) preferably with open Prefixes so we can craft Life on them.

Flask
Flask

Other than Life Flasks, these are the flask we will use. Quicksilver for movement speed, Diamond Flask for DPS and to bring out the max DPS from our Amulet, Marylene's Fallacy.

21 Stats in order of DPS boost(Added on 28th Feb 2020)

Spoiler
A. %Attack Speed

B. Flat Accuracy(Until "Chance to hit %" reaches near 100%, don't worry about "Chance to hit Evasive Monster %")*

C. %Global Critical Multiplier

D. %Increased ("Generic"/Fire/Projectile/Elemental etc) Damage (All these types gives the same increase per %)

E. %Global Critical Chance(Low DPS increase, better to go for other affix like the ones above or affix like resist, etc)

F. Adds # to # ("Generic"/Fire etc) Damage (%Damage Works better for our build)

G. % Accuracy(Flat works better, just "ignore" this)

A to C - adds lots of DPS, always look for them in your rare equipment
D and E - is ok adds a small bit of DPS but don't prioritize them.
F and G - Don't bother about them

*For Accuracy, usually one to two Tier 1 Accuracy affix on our rares is enough for us to reach near or 100% Chance to Hit.

22 Equipment Rankings by DPS(For certain slots with many good options)(Added on 30th Mar 2020)

Spoiler
These are DPS VS bosses in order from highest to lowest

Amulets
Amulets

1. +2 skill amulet(with T1 Crit Multi)
2. Xoph's Blood(Against Enemies who hit you in the last 4 seconds)
3. Marylene's Fallacy(Paired with Diamond Flask)
4. +2 skill amulet(No other Offensive Affix)
5. +1 skill amulet(with T1 Crit Multi)
6. Yoke of Suffering

7. These 3 are almost Similar

7A. Karui Charge
7B. T1 Crit Amulet(No other Offensive Affix)
7C. +1 skill amulet(No other Offensive Affix)

8. Xoph's Blood(Against Enemies who didn't hit you last 4 seconds)

Flasks
Flasks

1. Diamond Flask of Acceleration(12% Attack Speed)
2. Diamond Flask
3. Silver Flask of Acceleration(12% Attack Speed)/Wise Oak(15% Penetration)
4. Sulphur Flask of Acceleration(12% Attack Speed)
5. Silver Flask
6. Sulphur Flask

*For Wise Oak, it's assumed that our uncapped Fire resist is the highest among our 3 elemental resist.

*As Wise Oak is roughly similar to a Silver Flask of Acceleration in terms of DPS, it's a better idea to just use the Silver Flask so we don't need to maintain our Fire Resist to always be the highest unless the +35% all resist from Wise Oak is required.

23 Ideal Non Cluster Jewels(Added on 6th Apr 2020)

Spoiler

Base Jewel

Ideal Rare Base Jewel

2 Prefix from below

- (14–16)% increased Damage with Bows
- (14–16)% increased Fire Damage
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Fire Skills
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Cold Skills
- (15–18)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Lightning Skills
- (12–16)% increased Totem Damage
- (Defensive option) (5–7)% increased maximum Life

2 Suffix from below

- (3–5)% increased Attack Speed
- (2–4)% increased Attack and Cast Speed
- (12–15)% to Critical Strike Multiplier with Elemental Skills
- (9–12)% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier
- (10–12)% increased Projectile Damage

A Jewel with 4 Affixes above is as good as a DPS notable on the Passive Tree. Highest DPS will be a mix of Crit Multiplier + Attack Speed.

Abyss Jewels

Ideal Rare Abyss Jewel

2 Prefix from below

- Adds (16–18) to (27–32) Fire Damage to Bow Attacks
- (Defensive option) +(36–40) to maximum Life
- (Defensive option) +(101–180) to Evasion Rating

2 Suffix from below

- +(9–12)% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier
- +(3–5)% increased Attack Speed
- +(121–240) to Accuracy Rating
- (Defensive option) +(5–6)% chance to Blind Enemies on Hit with Attacks
- (Defensive option) +(6–8)% chance to Taunt Enemies on Hit with Attacks

As good DPS affixes on Abyss Jewels are more limited, I have included some defensive options in the above list. Suffixes provide more compared to the Prefix(Except Life) in Abyss Jewels base on the available options so focus on them more.

Note: Other Defensive Options outside life like resist, etc are not mentioned. These will be up to individual's needs, please factor them in as your need requires.

** Below Optional Section Added on 9th Feb 2020 **
***********************************************

31 (Optional)Maximum DPS Edition
- Below is if you really want to increase your DPS greatly, reaching 1.76m DPS in POB which means 15.84m DPS with 9 Totems!! BUT requires taking a big hit on Life Total so do it only if you are comfortable with that.
-Also requires quite a bit currency as you need Awakened Curse on Hit Level 5, a 6 Link Body Armour with +1 Curse
- The "trick" is to get 3 curses on the Target

Spoiler
So what I did was as follows:

1. Swap out my Kaom's Heart for a rare Body Armour with

- You can apply an additional Curse affix
- 33+ Int if you follow my Passive Tree and are not getting any Int from other gears(Need 126 Int for Level 5 Awakened Curse on Hit)
- 6 Linked with 3 Blue and 3 Green Sockets, Gem Setup at the next point

Example(Ignore the socket/links as this is to show the affixes)

Other affix on the Body Armour is up to you, ideally 100+ Life and some Resist, etc

2. Gem Setup in this new Body Armour will be as follows

Body Armour(6 Linked) -
1) Frenzy
2) Greater Multiple Projectiles
3) Awakened Curse on Hit(Level 5)
4) Flammability
5) Projectile Weakness
6) Elemental Weakness

Yup much lesser HP after taking off the Kaom's Heart, around 5k or so but DPS is roughly doubled with all the 3 curse up.

Personally I am more comfortable at 6k+ life so I am not sure if this is something I will go for, but hey, it's definitely interesting to push the limit :) Quite surprised to go even higher than the old 12m DPS!

With most Gems moving over to the 6L Body Armour from the Bow, Gem Setup in our Bow will be as follows

Bow(4 Linked and 2 Separate(Linked or not doesnt matter)) -
Linked Gems
1) Cast When Damage Taken
2) Summon Ice Golem
3) Elemental Army
4) Minion Life

Unlinked Gems
5) Blink Arrow
6) Blood Rage

- Summon Ice Golem provides a nice DPS boost for us. It's linked to Cast when Damage Taken so it doesn't requires us to cast it manually.

How to enable 3 Curse on a target?

Spoiler
First Curse - By default a target can have 1 curse

Second Curse - Comes from the "You can apply an additional Curse affix" from the Body Armour

Third Curse - Comes from the Awakened Curse on Hit Gem(Level 5 required), enabling an additional Curse for Supported Skills

POB Pastebin (1.76m DPS)(3.10)(2 Cluster Jewel)
*For a Level 100 Character with 2 Passive Points from Act 2 Bandit Quest

Spoiler
https://pastebin.com/NUqTSiTd

*Note In the Pastebin I edited the Body Armour to have 2 lines of "You can apply an additional Curse" to simulate the "Additional Curse" from the Awakened Curse on Hit Gem as it seems to be not applied(Could be due to a bug)

******************************

Hopefully what I have written above gave more insight to maybe a "possible 3.9 update/change" to this build.

For those who are interested to look at very good gears(Still able to go higher of course!) used for this build, you can look at my standard character Vei_Legion. The character is using combined items from a few leagues.

Thanks for reading!

Feel free to post in this thread if you have any questions* and I will try my best to answer :)

*I generally don't comment on if this build is good/fast/efficient/etc as it is pretty subjective.

In all your PoB's when I remove Combat Focus jewels the dps goes up, why is that?

Also is Point Blank the preferred corruption for Skirmish quiver?

Cheers

DixuMixu wrote:

The Damage you see on POB is Elemental Hit(Fire Type Damage Selected)

Combat Focus has a line that says

"With 40 total Dexterity and Strength in Radius, Elemental Hit and Wild Strike deal 50% less Lightning Damage"(Same 50% Less for Cold Combat Focus)

Since our damage are converted to Fire(Through Avatar of Fire keystone), when we have the Combat Focus socketed, the Cold/Lightning Damage will be 50% less before it gets converted to Fire Damage***

Below is a "Simplified" Example looking at just Fire and Lightning only

Example

Spoiler
1. Damage(Original, No Combat Focus, No Avatar of Fire)

Fire - 3000
Lightning - 1000

2. Damage(With Avatar of Fire, No Combat Focus)

Fire - 3500(+500 from Lightning due to Avatar of Fire)
Lightning - 500(But will be dealing zero damage because Avatar of Fire)

3. Damage(With Avatar of Fire + Combat Focus(Lightning/Viridian))

Fire - 3250(+250 from Lightning due to Avatar of Fire, and after 50% Less due to Combat Focus)
Lightning - 250(50% less due to Combat Focus, also will just deal zero damage because of Avatar of Fire)

When you take away the Combat Focus, you go from point 3. to point 2., i.e. Fire Damage changed from 3250 to 3500. That's why you saw the DPS increased in POB.

***I can't confirm if this is the exact sequence it's calculated, but the above should be enough to explain why DPS went up when you take away the Combat Focus, which is what you wanted to ask.

Hope that explains it.

Regardless whether you go for Point Blank or not, I would say it's not too important because

1. We will be switching to using a rare quiver later so the reliable source for Point Blank will be from the Skill Tree.

2. It's along our Path this build takes in the Passive Tree so we don't need to go out of our way for it and just need to allocate 1 Point to it.

And here's my take on Point Blank for references

I noticed that you did not take point blank in your "3.10 cluster jewel" pob.
It only cost 1 passive point, is it worth taking?

With the changes/nerfs to equipment

- From 100% more damage with arrow hits at close range to 50% for Chin Sol and now we are using Quill Rain instead of it.

and skills

- Point Blank now deals 30% more damage at close range instead of 50% in the past
- Ballista Totem is placed besides us instead of at range

Point Blank isn't an automatic fit to the build at this point as we will be playing at range because of the above.

That said, if one wishes to play up close and personal so he can take advantage of Point Blank, feel free to!

Hope that answers your question.

Cheers
