Dejuvenate's Quillrain Toxic Rain. Beastly AOE and single target. WIP.

I started off this league with a Guardian, Delvis_Presley, and had a Quill Rain drop early for me. (Playing SSF so random luck dictates what I have)
After seeing some of the threads about toxic rain and quill rain i decided a swith might be in order.
Currently can only 4 socket it due to iLevel but as soon as I get Vorici up I'll be 6 socketing it.
I've got a couple of Elreon rings so mana is not a problem for me at the moment and wont be once I get the ascendency.
Only got to level 14 so far with this build but I'm having a lot more fun then I was with the guardian.
I've got TR socketed with Mirage arrow so its really become a fire and forget skill for me now.
I'll just fire once, run through the pack and by the time I get to the other side my Mirage Archer has killed the pack and moved to the next one.
It's just so much fun I cant wait until I get to higher levels with him.
Went SSF in Delve and I'm never going back.
Yeah guys, definitely. TR covers quite a good amount of areas too, compared to straight path of CA.

The more I played this, the more I am convinced TR is the new EA of this league.

Hope someone with better exposure (pohx, mathil, etc) caught wind of this and makes a proper guide.

I already have a toxic rain/quill rain champion since league start.

I chossed champion, because with both shadow and ranger, i always had trouble to get the defense done, and their classes dont increase the damage that mutch, that it is worth the squishyness.

What i found out about toxic rain is, that it has kind of a pattern to its randomness.

If you aim on any given point of the ground, and if you have no obstacles or walls there, 3 arrow seems always land, so that there aoes overlap atleast a minimal amount in the midle. All other arrows land in a random, spreding from middle to outwards pattern, and dont overlap with the middle.

Also, extra projectiles greatly increase the aoe in what the arrows fall, if you link a gmp and lmp to it, it covers the whole screen. This is probably due to that each arrow after the third lands more outwards than the last arrow, and never closer to the middle than the last arrow, so the more projectiles you add, the more outwards the last one will fall.
More projectiles dont increase the single target damage(unless you get a crazy, maybe unoptainable ammount of AOE)

Increased and reduction to the AOE defently dont affect how far the projectiels spread (it NOT works like Firestorm! Tested it in standart with a 130% aoe, and than with a 0% Aoe with lvl 1 concentrated effect, arrows in both cases cover the same area) but on how great the explosions are, and how big the poison dot aoe is. So DONT link concentrated aoe on it, it greatly reduces the damage becasue lowering the aoe leads to less overlap, but not to a tighter arrow spread! Inc aoe is way better in this case, becasue it leads to bigger clouds without increasing the stpead, so more clouds will overlap at any given point!

Iam lvl 75 so far, no deaths, damage is way to mutch for what ive invested yet, an iam not even using quillrain yet, because i play self found, have garbage gear and no luck with a quillrain drop so far. I usualy play in SSF, but somehow, people wanna play with me since my succesfull Orb of Storm build last league....

Here my crappy gear:

And even with that it melts everything, and makes this poor caustic arrow users weep tears....

I expect a shift in meta as soon as the majority realizes that the dot stacs.

Isodor,

Thank you for testing. If this is the case, then TR works like lightning spire trap last league.

The outer circle radius is fixed. The spires (or our pods) spawn randomly within the fixed radius. In order for us to get more overlaps, we take increased aoe gem instead of concentrated effect.

There is also a reddit post that covers the same conclusion too.

This will also bring carcass jack to be the armor of choice for TR.

This is super interesting, thank you! I've been using conc effect (only at a5, in the 40s) but will be sure to try out increased AoE now.
Hi, i've been trying your TR build idea for quite sometime, and this is what i comes up with while watching ZiggyD and pohx stream. Currently i am at lv 76. I have not try it in high tier map yet, i'm only at T4 right now, also i have not take the 4th ascendancy yet.

Don't mind the crappy equipments and flasks, i am poor in currency right now. LOL. I really hope this build will works for end game content tho.

Hi, sorry to bother you but I have a couple of questions.

How is decay dps calculated if I add it in? Is it the same as the total dps formula?

Also what is the difference between Poison DPS and DoT DPS?

It is 40% INCREASED damage, not MORE damage.

With that cleared away, I would say additional arrow. 5 arrows into 6 arrows is 20% MORE damage

and we already get more than 200% dibs from trees already. So the 40% INCREASED damage comes up to be less than 20% MORE. Also keep in mind additional arrows increase the overall radius of toxic rain, so it helps with general clearing and not single target. We are already very great at mob clearing by far.

Bandits are kill all. You can also help Alira for more resist, or help Kaitlyn for more IAS and movement speed. I will update POB later today, incorporating the mechanics discovered by the community. You can temporarily check my character, it's public. The name is DejuvSpores.

Decay adds an additional dot that doesn't stack with itself. So if you have 5 spores and they hit the same target, the decay is only applied once and refreshed whenever hit by spore explosion or arrow.

Poison DPS is the one you get from poison proc. Look at the wiki https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Poison

It is a function of combined physical and chaos attack.

TR has tiny hitbox (only hits 1 enemy per arrow I think), and we scale the dots (increase duration), so our explosion is delayed as long as possible. We also use Quill Rain, as it gives the most attack speed and hence, the most amount of pods/spores.

As a result, our poison DPS is really insignificant (~10% of the DOT). This is the major reason why I switched from pathfinder to trickster, ignoring poison and just stacking attack speed and DOT damage.

Hope this helps. Sorry I am not a streamer and job gets in the way.

Hey, just wanted to share my progress of this build on HC. Been really enjoying it so far.

POB: https://pastebin.com/w2WVifTN

While I agree that duration is important, I don't think spending 7 points for the second cluster is worth it. I also went for evasion stacking since I like to go fast; currently sitting at 74% movespeed in hideout.

So far, the build runs super fast. Mirage Archer takes care of all the clear speed, and Wither Totem makes boss DPS insane. While it's only 4.4k HP, the defensive layers of dodge+spell dodge, Vaal Grace, jade, quartz, and stibnite flasks makes it pretty tanky. Also delves quite well because of the movement speed.

Thinking of also running a Blasphemy Despair setup, but I'm not sure if 85% reserved mana makes it awkward to spam TR.
