If you're using a bone helmet setup, what do you set the chill effectiveness to in PoB?

Hi!
I have the expensive AG setup with: Mask of the stitched demon, blind chest with life and ES, Kaoms roots, Kingmaker. AG skill links: AG21+20/20 minion life+feeding frenzy+20/20 elemental army. My animate guardian was massacred on a T15 map. Mods were: -10 max res and beyond. Does this happen to anyone else as well? Am I doing something wrong? pob: https://pastebin.com/BmDtrUg0 I do have this shield that i crafted and tried to use necromantic aegis but the survivability is really lacking. I am also running this belt for tougher content. Me and my friend also want to tackle t16 100% maps but i honestly doubt my defensive side can handle it, any fix is apprecriated thank you ! |

So I picked up this build a few days ago on recommendation, and it's been doing me pretty well. I can easily do T16 maps as well as most Elder/Shaper guardians deathless. I've got an excellent HP pool with a clear-cut way to continue increasing it, and it's for the most part satisfying to play.
I am having some issues, though. I'm going to run through them below along with some of my thoughts on how to potentially fix them. For reference, this is all referring to the Tanky/League Starter build. 1. My Zombies sometimes die in higher difficulty encounters (T16 bosses that really hurt, Elder, Shaper, Sirus A6+). It's hard to re-raise them in certain boss encounters as the "Trigger a socketed spell" crafted mod on the wand triggers Bone Offering before a zombie is raised, meaning for the most part I don't actually get to raise a zombie without first removing that gem (unless there are enough corpses left-over that Bone Offering can't consume them all, such as in regular mapping). This issue also persists when I have to raise Spectres (although this is less annoying since I only exclusively do this outside of maps). My current project, once I get more currency, is to make a +3 Minion gem level helmet with a fractured life mod from an essence on it (since that gives me the highest single-mod life possible on a helmet). This'll hopefully increase the survivability of my zombies. I'm also thinking about putting an Animated Guardian on the link instead of a Stone Golem (and also add Meat Shield support, as advised), but I'm unsure of how this'll ultimately impact DPS since it gets rid of Elemental Army support and I don't have enough currency nor enough confidence that my minions won't die to do the expensive AG gear. 2. Similar to above, I sometimes lose my spectres during extremely damaging boss fights (primarily Sirus or Shaper). I'm not sure how to best solve this, although I suspect that switching my spectres for another one might be in my best interest specifically for boss fights. I'm currently using Slave Drivers (I previously used Scales of Esh, but they were way too passive for my liking during mapping). 3. My spectres aren't aggressive enough (or don't do enough damage) to allow me to do red-tier Blight maps safely. I'm primarily doing a minion build because it'll allow me to more easily farm Blight maps. However, as it currently stands, my spectres either aren't killing the enemies fast enough or just aren't aggressive enough to do an unrolled T13 Blight map (with the only annoints on it being the ones that give you lucky chests and slightly increased pack size). My most direct thoughts are that I need to be more considerate of what towers I'm using as well as increase my spectre damage. I'm currently placing frost cage and meteor towers. Important to note, I haven't actually tried a Blight map since I picked up Unending Hunger, so this might not even be an issue anymore, but I'd like to hear some feedback on this. 4. In certain boss encounters, namely Sirus, during the last phase if I don't move fast enough to avoid his big flashing laser beam (which is more times than not, unfortunately), I pretty much die immediately or barely live with like 100HP. My thoughts on how to fix this are to both increase my HP pool (by applying Fertile Catalysts to my two Vermillion Rings, as currency allows), as well as increasing my chaos resistance (specifically on my helmet and belt, which I'll be remaking soon, and my shield, which I'm working on when I get the crafts needed). If anyone has any other input for this, I'd be appreciative. Here's my gear and PoB: PoB: https://pastebin.com/P7YWkArp Any thoughts on what to do would be appreciated. |

" That is really sad to hear, and should not happen. But you say Kaoms roots, why? Also the -10 max res is only the player, not minions so doesn't matter. Mine has never died, and I did not treat him well, doing everything from Sirius to bad mod t16 lots of times. I never see he's health dip really. But I crafted resists on he's gear with harvest, and got some boots with lots of resists too. So I am sure he is maxed (80% all resist with elemental army). He is not anywhere near chaos res max though, probably only a little bit really. Edit: I used a armor, not with ES but some other, to give som phys dmg reduction too. Doesn't matter much, the primary ES source is from the Stitched helm. But I too use convocation a lot too, and have it linked with steelskin and increased duration, that way you can have the regen going most of the time (like 3% hp/sec) as well. I am working on a level 21 minion health for him too, so he get like 1 or 2% more regen. Also on boots I got some with the enchantment 2% regen when hit, not sure what he is at exactly, but apparently it is enough. But I think the main point is that you need to use convocation a lot, to make sure he isn't going too far alone and also has the regen. At least that is my advice ;) Last edited by zipha#4019 on Jul 25, 2020, 10:05:57 AM

I wanted to just update with my recent experiences regarding spectre choices.
I realize everyone loves the redemption sentry's, but during some testing I have found that for me the Knights are really more desirable. It is apparently important that you got level 26 spectre gem, so the spectres are level 84. That way they use some skill more or at least it was something I read. And they do seem to crush everything in their path. And I can vouch they are so insane for bosses. Only thing is that I use convocation a bit more to move them, but they run super fast so most of the time it is just fine. In my current setup, Knights and Sentry's are about equal DPS. But for clear maps, Sentry's seems like a little faster, but I am not sure, I try to swap back and forth a bit, and overall the Knights win in my book. Only time where the Sentry's are maybe a little easyer to play with are when doing legion, they can hit more of them. I need to do my 4 legion thing today, as I finally saved up enough splinters, and I will use the knights. They crush any boss so fast.. Admittedly I only did Sirius on A2, but he got instant phased all the time, I love it. Using awakened Splash, Ele damage, Phys dmg and minion damage. And for curse I prefer frostbite. They perma freeze stuff easely, so if boss has phases I need to move them away a bit to continue the encounter. I changed to use a medium and a small cluster jewel, the medium is with "First among Equals" and "Vengefull Commander", the second is "Surging Vitality", still debating to try others, maybe the chaos res one. Also I got a new wand that is pretty insane for 12 ex, imho a steal and a huge upgrade. Other than that I am using two Thread of Hope now, to get max block without sacrificing too much else but a little hp. Still got around 7700, so that is good enough. I wonder if I should try out something else, but only thing I can think of is changing my helm, but really not sure if it is worth it. My RK's got 1.4M each for mapping (without using deathmark actively) and 3.1M for boss dps (swap splash for multistrike and include deathmark), that is insane times 5, and actually on mapping it is more as Unending Hunger is not calculated. Thanks again for the inspiration Kay, and good luck everyone in perfecting the build. |
