Do you mean the undead nodes without the necromancer? It's something like 'disturb the grave to start encounter', then it spawns phantasms. The lack of physical mitigation can make these nodes really rippy.

Also, the the node that spawns devourers can be deadly: If you try to offscreen, nothing spawns, so you need to run into the node. Then, if a devourer spawns under you, one-shot or if their random fireball/aoe hits you, one-shot.

Sorry about that. I had a mistake in the gem link section. I wrote 'Elemental Weakness' as the passive, but it should say 'Elemental Equilibrium'. (Elemental Weakness is the name of a curse).

The basic guide recommends Projectile Weakness as the single curse, but many players have chosen to use two curses in their personal extension of the basic build. You need to craft 'additional curse' or take 'Whispers of Doom' on the passive tree to do this. The second curse of choice would be Flammability.






If you dont mind me asking....what would be the best gem to replace if you were to add in the second curse "Flammability"?

you summon Fire spectre as main, Is it okay to use Solar spectre too with items, passive tree you showed?
and can I switch to any spectre whenever I want to try different spectre?

I tried skimming through the thread but am having trouble finding any information.

I'm having trouble with my survivability. I switched from your original build to go right into the tree to pick up Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics. Couple of questions:

1.) How do you keep your spectres alive when you're fighting something like Uber Elder? Not only am I still learning the fight, but my spectres keep dying during the fight. I've lost 2 fire eaters consistently. Any suggestions?

2.) I know you're swamped, but is it possible to take a glance at my profile and tell me what I need to upgrade?

3.) Any gem swaps or spectre changes for Uber Elder? Any input will help.

Thanks in advance and thanks for the great guide. I'm enjoying this build a lot.

Firstly, I'm in the process of re-writing parts of the levelling guide. I only play a single build each league (this build), so I have forgotten some of the difficulties that players new to summoners experience. As a result, the current guide can be very challenging around the mid-point. The updated levelling guide should make it easier to understand and do.

The major issue with spectre summoners is how GGG designed spectres, specifically the levelling process of the Raise Spectre gem & its interaction with the necromancer ascendancy. At level 1, Raise Spectre imposes a severe penalty on our spectres: 30% reduced damage, 20% reduced life, 20% reduce es, low accuracy. So, while you are levelling through the Acts, the build can weak/clunky/bad because spectre survivability is so poor, and they tend to die easily. This is why the Wraithlord unique helmet is recommended (+1000 life and 1% regen to minions).

There is a massive turnaround when you finish the second lab because the second notable (soul weaver) and gives your spectres 100% increased life and damage. Spectres no longer die at the drop of hat. So, from this point on, spectre builds feel 'easy'. You don't even need to do 3rd or 4th lab to be endgame viable.

Once you hit maps, gearing a spectre summoner is very easy (cheap) because their dps mainly comes from the skill gems/auras/curses; you only need to focus on getting life and resists on your gear. Of course, there is scope to increase spectres' damage to stupid levels with expensive gear (@Tusk_Luv got his build to 11mil shaper dps), but you can reach an 'endgame' level with very little investment (@Oxidiser killed uber elder with tabula at level 83 with level 19/0 gems). Alternatively, you can build for survivability while maintaining a baseline dps (my personal build).

I'll add this information into a 'how the build works' section at a later date.

If you look at the gem links, the curse group is storm brand + curse on hit + faster casting + projectile weakness. You can replace faster casting.

Your gear looks good. I don't think you need to upgrade anything.


1. You could swap Phantasms for Elemental Focus. Or swap Faster Projectiles for Elemental Focus.

2. Use minion life instead of Raise Zombie. Zombies die very quickly in the Uber Elder fight, so it's a wasted gem slot. Minion life will keep your stone golem alive.

There are a few things you should notice:

I never stand still: Uber Elder's ice spear can crit and freeze. Shaper shoots multiple balls/beam at you. Keep moving at all times. When I get slowed I use Flame Dash to move a larger distance.

I make big circles around the arena: this is to lead shaper, so his attacks go where I want them to and it's to look for space octopuses.

I always prioritise killing the space octopuses: after a set amount of time, they drop a ground degen that causes a lot of dot damage, and are especially dangerous for your spectres.

I always try to position myself behind Shaper and use convocation to bring my spectres there as well.

Remember that the spectres attack what you are attacking AND they will go wherever you place Storm Brand. So if you want to get them out of trouble, place storm brand in a clear area to let them regen.

It's not guaranteed, and you can see I lose a spectre to bad positioning at 2:40.

Flame Sentinel, Prayer Guard and Solar Guard will work well with this build. We all start with SG until we can find Fire-Eaters. Some people stay with SG. Some people use a combination (2 FE + 2 SG). The items and passive tree stays the same.

However, if you are using Prayer Guards or Solar Guards, change 'Faster Projectiles' to 'Greater Multiple Projectiles'.
