Harbinger language/symbol translation
" This part confuses me.. You're saying that the Harbinger is coming out of the storm? Shouldn't it be a storm coming out of the Harbinger? IGN: Golem_Antsy, Harvest Last edited by Sheriff_K on Aug 30, 2017, 3:07:02 AM

" I am just sharing my thoughts about this but they're kinda unlikely to be right. I read time ago that unique items are not the true uniques but mirrored copies of the originals. This could be the explaination of the mirrored "Thunder" glyph on the unique mask (The mask we can get is a mirrored one). But as RXA623 says in its post, the connectors are not affected for some reason. "Unique items are more than likely copies of their original counterparts, their mirrored status is simply hidden." I think that the reason is that the connectors of the texts are equivalent to the "links" of the items in POE. So, when an item is mirrored, it's shape changes but not his link structure (I mean the mirrored S that a 6L forms). I think that this is the same for the harbinger uniques: they are mirrored because they are uniques so the symbols on them are mirrored, but not the connectors. Maybe this is a hint telling us that the Harbinger words are their gems/skills, the connectors their equivalent of our links to put them toguether, and they do not speak because for them it involves the cast of skills...(Maybe too much drugs here xD) | |
" Harbinger symbols have broader meaning depending on context, its hard to pinpoint it with one unchanging word. The first translation wasn't the most accurate. Symbol you're talking about in a broader meaning expresses some sort of relationship, belonging, being part of something bigger, could represent prepositions like "of" or "for" and reads backwards. Frankly, you have to look at whole sentence of symbols to choose the best meaning, choose which one fits the best. I should note that meaning can slightly variate but stay to its general concept. Like lightning symbol for example, it can be either a thunder or storm, not necessarily lightning, depends on context. Take a look at that google document, people did a lot of great work there. The Final one is (two-sided) you written "???" - The mod is Leech, Life Regeneration. Those whos the shyest are normaly the strongest, when time demands it they will step up and save the people from the end.
- The blindest are those who think they above others and tries to control it. |

" Now that you mention it, my guess is that each line still are mods of the item, but you take the ending symbol of each line and combine them to get the "history of the Harbingers". My current guess: Flow Untethered: space and time gods (space, time, gods) Tempest's Binding: following the orders issued by GoD (nova?, direction, GoD, arcane?/cast) Fracturing Spinner: kept fighting (fight, stop, fight) Unshattered Will: until they were imprisoned (lose, stop, prison) Enmity Divine: [GoD,] refusing to being imprisoned (stop, target, prison, arcane?/cast) Rippling Thoughts: [issued] destruction upon Wraeclast (fight, target, over time?, Wraeclast) Last edited by BlowITA on Aug 30, 2017, 3:47:41 AM

Based on all the symbols in the google docs, I have a guess as to the harbinger's backstory. Thanks to Bex, we know the uniques tell a story of the harbingers and why they are here. We know the beast is involved somehow, and we know that their "God of Domination" (GoD) plays a key roll.
Let us assume for a moment that GoD is a deity. GoD was imprisoned by the beast the same way the other gods were. As such, I propose the following translations of the text on the unique items. This translation is based on the google doc (link is in the original post). Flow Untethered: "GoD uses his manipulation on all creatures in dream. GoD uses his manipulation on all creatures in time. Our faithful GoD is ascending into a GoD of manipulation" The Tempest's Binding: "The beast spread a nova through all time, Placing an ailment on GoD's power. Our faithful GoD is now imprisoned, becoming simply a GoD. Our faithful GoD is now shattered, becoming a GoD of the arcane" The Fracturing Spinner: "Our GoD was one with the creatures and the land. Now our GoD is one with a temporal prison. Our faithful GoD has shattered the creatures of our land" (The last sentence is fairly literal based on the symbolism. I take it's meaning to reference how GoD's imprisonment prevents him from manipulating the creatures, in essence causing their destruction) The Enmity Divine: "Our GoD's brutality lead to his imprisonment. Our GoD of the arcane hungers for expansion. However, GoD was contained in an unbreakable prison. Our focused GoD of the arcane hungers to become a faithful GoD of the arcane." The Unshattered Will: "The beast was dead throughout all time. GoD delivered a brutal strike to his prison. GoD's will is not broken." The Rippling Thoughts: "Our faithful GoD gives all creatures in the land. Our faithful GoD has a hunger for expansion. Our faithful GoD will never lose focus, a faithful focus on wraeclast." The Beachhead: "The faithful GoD will shatter all the land, bringing ruin to Wraeclast." In short, the uniques tell a story of creatures who were once inhabitants of the world of dreams, or maps. They were capable of bending and manipulating the creatures of that world to their will. However, when Sin came along and created the beast, their deity was sealed away. The harbingers attributed this to his brutality. Throughout his imprisonment, the GoD became a master of the arcane. This explains why the harbingers can both manipulate creatures and cast spells. Eventually, upon the death of the beast, the GoD broke free, allowing him to spread his influence once more. Desiring for more than just the domain of maps, GoD set his sights on wraeclast, threatening it's destruction. Consider the similarities between the harbinger's abilities and the Shaper (as pointed out by someone earlier, I forget who). It is very likely that the Shaper encountered the GoD while exploring the maps. This is most likely where the Shaper learned all of his abilities from, and how the GoD came to learn of wraeclast. This in turn provided the motivation for his expansion. The Shaper's actions are threatening the destruction and stability of the maps, the GoD's actions are now threatening the destruction and stability of wraeclast. These are my thoughts on the subject. Please comment/elaborate, as these opinions are still incomplete, and my translations could use some work. Edit: I messed up the order of the shield (unshattered will) and staff (enmity divine). Though switching the two shouldn't matter, as the staff explains what happened to the GoD while he was imprisoned. Last edited by Asriel_D on Aug 30, 2017, 5:51:28 AM

" This wouldn't have gone so far if all these people weren't collaborating on those symbols together. Thank them. Personally I feel no motivation left, this thread now looks like a plagiarism because someone else on reddit was two days faster. I didn't know about the reddit person and his post regarding this. My apologies if my work is similar to his.
I did say that my translation was based on the symbols in the google docs. I should've been clearer and indicated that my post was entirely based on all the research done by the rest of the community, and not just the symbols. I'm sorry I didn't give full credit, I didn't intend to copy anybody. I'll make sure I'm more diligent in the future. Last edited by Asriel_D on Aug 30, 2017, 6:15:14 AM

" No, its not you Manondorf, its me :) I stepped in happily saying that I've cracked the symbol structure, but now I found out that another person on reddit was faster making me look like a fraud, like i stole his findings and presented as mine own, though that's not the case.
