Yeah someone just pointed this out to me. So then is there even a point to participating if you can't log in at the race start?

I hope you realize that the same 200-ish people are gonna get top 30 in almost all the races, so people who never focused on racing doesn't stand much of a chance
This is what I was referring to. Yes, I understand that those who have mastered every little thing as far as speedrunning goes should get rewarded for it, but the average joe has little incentive to do events, despite events being an alluring way to earn mtx stuff. Idk, i just don't think it's well thought out either.
That's why rewards should be tiered with people have a chance of getting something for doing decently. I've done a few runs, knowing I wouldn't do great, because hitting a certain level gave me a chance of winning a prize. Having a few tiered levels means that if I do good, I get a chance, and if I do really great, I get a chance for something better. I don't have a chance for the top tier stuff, but I still run because of the things I do have a chance for (and some of the races are fun).
That said, any X kill isn't worth running because it is neither fun nor do I have any chance at winning (I say it isn't fun because it isn't any different than hardcore). At least for the short timed ones. The BLAMT yesterday is something I really wanted to try, but due to family obligations I would've only been able to spend about 6 hours on it and I know that isn't enough time for me.
The tiered idea sounds like something GGG should look into

I'm sorry...but that's quite silly. Especially when all that the race is about is how quickly were you able to down him. Pointless.

Even if I start at the beginning I'm not good enough to ever make the "top x" and get the prizes, so I only do races for the fun of it. I would say depending on the race, how late you are starting and what your goal is for the race (i.e. fun or prize or trying a race for the first time) would factor into your decision to start a race late or not.

I'm sure I don't stand a chance either. But its incredibly stupid to end up on the back end of the ladder just because of starting late. There is no reason for the ladder to not be based on actual downed time. At least then I'd actually know how I did.

I can't argue with that. I think if they started the clock when you created your "first character in that race", then that would be fair (since some players create more than character as mules for extra flasks, or specific gems, etc... and there is a shared stash).

Someone pointed out to me that you could watch someone else do the run and do better. Because we all have the same random seed. But... why not just let super fast people improve their times by running again? With no shared stash though I might add. At least then it makes more sense. I mean I'm a punctual guy but showing up on time to races is... odd.

So i deleted my character and now I don't show on the leader boards. Does that mean my time no longer counts?
