Energy Shield and Life
" Exactly what I think, ES builds are supposed to have super high if not double the amount of life with the downside is that you can't refill it instantly and suffer from elemental ailments . Vaal Pact and Ghost Reaver was broken and shouldn't even be in the game in the first place . Now the problem is that GGG see 1 video about a guy with 25k ES and think yeah people shouldn't be able to get that high ES while in reality average player couldn't even get pass 10k ES. This just prove that they don't even play their own game or pretend to play their game at low level and don't know anything about end game . |

Maybe if there weren't so many bullshit one shot mechanics ES wouldn't need to be a requirement on 85% of the builds that can actually do all the content.

I took most of the salt in here and put it on my food.
My food is so salty i can hardly eat it now! |

I have a feeling that these nerfs are a bit too harsh, and that after the beta they will be tuned up SOME. ES def needs the nerf bat, no argument here, but lets not get too worked up. This isnt a patch note. This is giving us a heads up into how it will be in the BETA. Plenty of time for them to collect data and make adjustments.
if it were a patch note, then I would say get your torches and forks. |

" It's all about effective health. I don't have more than 10k Es with very few sources of other mitigation. That drops to 6600 in the future. Can't leech and can't survive 1 shots. Life based characters might only have 5k health but have 40-60 reduced physical DMG reduction. Fortify block and or doge. Their effective hp is significantly higher than 5k. Pure ES is screwed. |

" completely agree, also there's much more sources to leech as life (since life based builds are more often attack based, then spell based, also thing to note is "life gain on hit", but not "es gain on hit", also "%max life leeched per second", but no "%max es leeched per second") Also attack-life based builds are more often have fortify or vigilant strike, and also obviously life based builds have ar/ev (also wtf is 9K life vs 25K es example? there's 10-12K life players sneaking around, and 25K es build is what like world record with aurabot nearby?) Glacial Hammer now has 3-5% Chance to Poison on the character select screen. Last edited by HQuality#0993 on May 18, 2017, 2:38:11 PM

As an SSF-HC focused player it might be very difficult to build an ES based character with these conditions. Though I don't quite know why people are so angry. Some 21+k ES builds did have quite the comfortable time demolishing end game content, It really did make the game simpler than it should be.

I have a better idea.
Why don't you limit life and ES to 100? So no build can reach any higher than 100 effective life pool. Meanwhile, increasing monster damage output so that anything that touches you will deal at least 10000 damage. That way, you insure that any build we make will have to be played smartly, by trying to avoid everything. And make sure to increase the number of plummeting ursas and devourers, to make sure players die consistently, as often as possible. ........................ OK, now seriously, nerfing AoE nerfed fun. It was a bad idea. This update will absolutely trash the game though. It's not just a bad idea, it's a RIP idea. Because it's not ES that's OP, it's the new content in game that's OP and needs OP builds to handle it. I can't play the current state of the game with less than 8-10k effective life pool. Life builds are unplayable. If CI becomes unplayable, PoE will be unplayable. If damage can suddenly happen at your location, from below or on top of you, that's nonsense you can't avoid by playing smartly. You need huge effective life pool and good damage mitigation for that. I never managed to get anywhere near 15k+ ES, as I don't really have legendary gear, and I refuse to grind 5 trillion maps for it. With normal gear, within a playable, reasonable build, that spends most skill points for damage, reaching 10k ES atm is still very hard. And trying to play this game on red maps with less than 8k effective life pool is absurd and a waste of time. And XP. And no vaal pact for ES leech builds means no ES leech builds. You won't be able to go melee with an ES character. Some builds are designed for facetanking, it's not a matter of playing smart or playing dumb. If you want to play strategically and maybe a bit ranged, you don't build a leech melee build. If u remove leech, which even as it is I feel like it's quite unreliable, you remove an entire play-style, u remove some of the diversity of PoE. Btw, is anyone working on implementing a marketplace in this game? Or are you guys only busy nerfing everything, while adding buffed new bosses, to make sure that people spend even more years grinding moronically, trying to achieve impossible end game content? RIP PoE. I am enjoying your last days. With sadness. |

I love it ! , GGG building the game around the 1% group .
Funny how GGG has to change everything because people figure out how to make builds work again . So what is the real purpose of this game ? I mean I love the game but I do not like the nerfs all the time . This is the first game I have ever played that changes the rules. We invest time and currency into items to make a build work, then NERF, Now all the time vested into finding or crafting your gear and making your build is now toast . |

So... back to literally like 10 people playing with CI. Cool.
IS this an attempt to make the game more hardcore again? So everyone will struggle with most end game content and only the no-lifers will be able to hit proper CI gear? Everyone is just going to switch back to life. There won't be some people playing with 33% less life now that there will be a hybrid life roll. They won't have to travel all over the tree, will have access to about the same amount of effective life AND gain armor and ES. Whatever, I am moving anyway and was pretty much done playing seriously, as noted by my 7 challenges. See you in 3-4 patches when everyone is murdering stuff again I guess I will have to buy a one way ticket to hell with your lives
