[3.14] Flame Golem 101 - Complete Guide To Golemancy, ✔️All Bosses Down, ✔️Necro, ✔️Elementalist

Hi

Thank you for your very detailed information.
I am very new to POE, started a week ago as a necromancer summoning all of minions except golems.
Do you think this build can be good for very beginner like me?
I have been told that it would cost a lot for the golemancer so that I was wondering if I should start with another build and get back to this build once I save some currency.
Any advice for this?
Thank you in advance

Hello and welcome to Poe :)

This build is basically aimed to teach whole Summoner / Golemancer package for new players while you level and try the skills in action. I have everything explained in the guide, but it can take some time to read thoroughly as it's quite long. Once you reach higher levels, you will have enough knowledge to start tweaking the build for your own liking.

Build starts as basic Necromancer (Specters + Zombies), which is very old build type and has lot of cheap unique items to support leveling. You can reach and farm t13+ maps for less than half exalt as damage scales with Specters monster level rather than gear or gem level. Once you have enough currency, you can buy more expensive Golem jewels and transition to Golem / Specter hybrid, or just plain Golems if you chose to. leveling section is wrote to get players to high tier maps for as cheap as possible while keeping up good damage and safe EHP (HP + ES).

Some players start with faster builds and grind currency to get Golems jewels first. I myself like to start as Necromancer as it suits my play-style / speed, and it feels less strange to switch from minions to other minions than for example from Arc totems to minions.

You can always post in thread if you get questions as it's pretty enjoyable to teach new players tricks of Poe. There is also my Golemancer guild that you can join. Golemancer players help each other there and it's a channel to chat about Golems / etc.

Poking my head back in after a few leagues. Did you ever reach a consensus on The Primordial Chain? I remember when it was first introduced you weren't sure if it was better than just using Spectres until you can do a full swap to Golems.

Hello :)

I tested in and played with it around in PoB and came to conclusion that it's more beneficial to run Golems + Specters :

Primordial Chain

+ More Golems mean more shooting minions
+ This means faster clear speed

- Golems deal less damage, so total DPS boost to all Golems is about 20-30%
- Golems will be weaker (can die in boss fights and reflect maps)
- No chaos resistance from amulet
- No extra Energy Shield from amulet
- Golems start to use weaker spells near boss, TVs are much more effective near boss as they only have one spell
- Cant use Animate Guardian for damage and defense boosts

Chain is much better with Ice Golems, when Golems really need the movement speed and wont start using weaker attacks when near boss. I would still recommend using Presence of Chayula and Tukohama Vanguards.

Chain was ridiculously expensive last league from early to mid league. I you can get one, it's ok to use it but I would spend the currency on good pseudo 6-link helmet to Specters and other gear.

Hey Mika,

just looked into your actual PoB ... and noticed that Necromantic Aegis isn't used ... is that intended?

Hello :)

Do you mean the default tree of the guide? It's made using rare shield to get extra block chance and EHP (HP + ES). Necromantic Aegis setup requires better knowledge about enemies and kiting skills, so It's listed as variant.

It's easier to learn the build with extra defenses as it leads to less deaths and frustration. Experienced players can skip the default variant and select any one of the variants they like or start tweaking for their own taste.

UPDATE

Just broke 400 pages of thread! \o/

Thanks for all the posters and players of the build. I will do my best to keep the build fun to play in the future ^^

Hello :)

Haven't tested them myself yet in league, but have been hearing good things so far. They switch targets when earlier one dies, but can have some trouble targeting specific rares over trash mobs. However that applies to any enemy pack atm and there's no way to force them to focus on one target.

GGG posted that they made sure before league that minion AI is working fine with legions, and that they are doing total minion AI rework at some point. I would really like to see AI switch per minion (aggressive / default / defensive) at some point, but I will be for general improvement in their targeting / movement. I think that if GGG reworks minions AI, it will also affect all mobs in the map as I assume they use same AI, so that would be interesting to see as well.

Hi :)

Good to hear you found it. Guide is quite long, so stuff can be tricky to find.
