Personally I don't think flasks should be rechargable in PvP (except when you die).

I also think the overall damage dealt to players should be significantly reduced (40%+, if not more) and at the same time drastically nerf regen to a point where you can't outsustain damage done to you without spending some actual time kiting out of danger.



Those changes wouldn't fix everything, but they'd bring PvP to a rather different point. No more insane flask spamming, ridiculous 1 shots. You'd have room for counterplay and outplay. You're ranged? You gotta kite, because now the tank that you used to 1 shot from 8 screens away can actually get to you. If the tank gets to you, you also don't get 1 shot, etc.


Basically healing is bullshit.
Offscreen 1 shots are bullshit.
Also fuck EA.

That's my view on it.

We made a massive thread with all our ideas to make pvp better, most of them are still valid points those days. Go read them if you are interested. Also I haven't created any thread regarding pvp balance since Chris mentioned that no more ressources would be spent on pvp (wich was months ago). You can check my post history or just look at the forum.

On top of nerfing the 3 things I mentioned and have been mentioning for years, (at least i'm consistent with that), what should be created is a pvp damage formula with strong diminish return. That way you could still improve your damages by grinding gear but the difference wouldn't be so insane as what we got right now and more players could participate. That would also enable some fine tuning on the most problematic skills wich is not possible right now because everything can become OP wit the right gear.

I always laugh at people saying LA is broken, we had fun games with rup where we literally used every single bow skills for the lulz (including the lamest shit like railgun shrapnel shot) and kept one shoting each other. Sur LA is the more convenient one because it can bounce on wall and reach a bit further with the aoe but nerf it and some other will become meta (spoiler alert it will be the one who can reach further than the others so probably Ice Shot).

Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.
In truth guys...

It's nobodys fault if this or that is ''broken'', the problem is GGG not re-adjusting the damage of certain skills.

The only problem we would have if it was adressed is with secondary damage and mechanics interacting with objects.

On a side note people nowadays are too lazy to stick to 1 type of build and perfect it, they prefer to change build everynow and then with what gets released so they can abuse the fact that its damage isnt tweaked to what it should be.

If damage was adressed no one would have the wealth to switch back and forth like that, you'd need to scale your skill a lot more to make it actually T1 in pvp, you couldnt just swap some gears and gem or this and that in a day and make it work...

Yes ofcourse it creates diversity to have broken skills everynow and then but its much more fun to see someone stick to something and perfect it to the best he can and actually do good.

In truth since i started pvp 4 years ago i dont give a shit anymore about people killing everyone with broken stuff, im much more impressed with players using underground skills or builds that can compete with me instead.

In fact i have been playing low life crit caster since the beginning and no lies here... i perfected it and it is at the level it is now. I can turn 3/4 of spells into T1 pvp builds with the setups i have but this is because i worked hard to get all the gear needed to reach this level. Yeah maybe the fact that i switched to inquisitor makes my point not valid but in such meta i have no choice to pump the damage even more when im getting 1 shotted or secondary damag'd, dot'ed.

People need to work more on their builds and we need support from GGG to balance stuff out, or its gonna stay an endless sea of people swapping builds to whats broken over and over. Or people sticking to a broken mechanic because it ''works'', 1 shots arent skill and they will never be, same for stuff that you can almost not mitigate at all ( seconday damage, vortex dot, unblockable/dodgable. )

good read but sometime the builds you start become so broken from GGG patches that it s better to change.

To be honest, I don't see how anyone can have fun right now. You literally log by habits to try to justify all the time spent on your characters. In the end, once you rapped everyone in sarn for a bit (only max aoe control build can do 1vs1 those days) what's left ?

Personally when I started PvP, all I did were self cast spells. I LOVED the witch. Back then, all you ever played against was EA, melee cyclone and PA with the occasional off meta build. EA/PA were a pain to deal with, but everything else was more or less managable.

I had a lot of fun, I made ice nova work and I spent a bunch of time to make it more PvP viable, 50+ % quality firestorm (I just forced crashes with this really tho) and then took a long break because no matter what I did, I'd still get dumpstered offscreen by the same builds over and over. *Aim in my general direction, win*.

I got annoyed, played some more PvE and then spark got a buff so I stacked the hell out of duration and projectile speed and abused the living shit out of that as a big fuck you to those obnoxious offscreener builds. You can kill someone from 2 screens away? I can kill you from across the entire god damn arena. It was satisfying for a time. I ended up retiring the character early because it just felt cheap. Truthfully, all it would do is clear the arena of people wanting to PvP.

Took another break. Kept working on my troll reflect character (which does NOT use aegis and does NOT use blade vortex). I wanted to have a little fun project to work on. And then these last few patches came around and the motherfucking degens became absolute god tier. And SRS became retarded. Ascendancies were already a big blow to PvP, but then they buffed the shit out of things like Jugg and Pathfinder and all that crap...And traps + poison + everything else...holy fuck. Guess what you can't reflect against? Literally everything I just mentioned.

Took another break. In the meantime, I saw some people making very glassy characters like Jorge and vhlad and it reminded me of the classic D2 bow zons (because xpac was for shitters). So I made my trapper. Easy to kill. 1 shots anything, can't be blocked, dodged or evaded. I may be using Vortex, but there's a million ways to get the upper hand on me and it's intended. I learned my lesson with spark and making things unfun for everyone just drives people away.

Ultimately what I would love to do is another self cast mage of some kind with whatever spell I like at the time, but it just never feels quite strong enough vs just about anything.

Your firestorm is doing well, but it was in a 3v3 setting where really nobody could get to you. Your damage is absolutely insane and we can't get to you or past you for the objective due to the mechanic of the spell (found a potential fix for that tho so looking forward to the next one!). Had you been using the majority of other spells, things may have been quite different in terms of potential counterplay.

Anyway I'm babbling, but I get your point. Playing off-meta stuff and making it successful(ish) is more satisfying than spamming a T1 build and talking shit to everybody like you own the place. The latter is happening way too often. I wanna repurpose my witch into a self-cast, but it's gonna feel like a waste of currency once I show up with a decent idea and get killed offscreen by LA again.

None of that has really stopped me from being self-cast. I've only ever done one auto-cast thing and that was cast on stun + ice spear + prolif (titty bitches are dangerous, you know?). But I have seen how broken Vortex is, I'm sure you know from experience, Harley (btw, Montreal is worst Canada). But honestly, I just don't want to work with anything but ice spear and cascade, they're such great skills, and I'm glad to finally have a decent build that works in PVP... for the most part. I just don't see the appeal of switching over to T1 builds like EA and LA and all that bullshit. Just so what, you can win? You can show other players how little integrity you have, that you just HAVE to win no matter the cost? It does seem rather disingenuous when players go on about how much they love PVP but refuse to go outside the T1 metas that are killing PVP.
