After accomplishing pretty much everything in the game I ever wanted to do it got rather boring. I still played, but the fun and challenge was gone. Then I discovered the PVP community and play style/theory crafting. It's constantly evolving, fun, and most importantly, always a challenge. It's a shame it isn't really cared for by GGG. On that note, I am 100% in on this idea.

I've reached out to the senior devs, and Jesus Chris himself. I gave them probably one of the best pitches I've ever done, backed with numbers, a launch method, and willingness to collaborate.

Chris I dream of a way to separate the toxic hostility of PvE Players speaking out against GGG developing PvP instead of PvE features. We need to rebirth PvP in a new light. free of this stigma. I think Kickstarter could be a huge solution to this problem. Players will understand that the development costs were funded by the mass of players that share the dream of a PvP Town and League.

The matchmaking system has been improving and improving and seems to be a perfect match for a separate PvP instance/server/league. I think the FFA arena in Act 3 would be perfect. Extend the four gates slightly into a safe area. The safe area has merchants that vend the base items for crafting at the benches nearby, as well as Leo who hosts the matchmaking. All crafting costs are free, as is the gem merchant. All the item affixes ranges are normalized. Incorporate corruptions and other features as you see fit. When joining the league you create a new character with a designated max level that spawns into this isolated town/server. My hope is that creating a PvP Town in a separate league will change peoples outlook on PvP especially when funded through a system that's not detracting from PvE. The endless replay-ability and competitive drive this would add to the game would be astounding.

Right now PvP is pretty segregated not only by leagues, but as well as bankrolls. The entry level keeps rising as legacy affixes and unique items are created. The latest problem has been hybrid physical damage increase % has been reduced from the original value of Mercenary 's 54% to 44%. Not such a big deal but it impacts newer players as well as some veterans with this lingering feeling of inequality. The PvP Town would change this entirely.

PoE is an amazing engine with amazing art. Creating a competitive drive within this system/game would be the next level dream. No leagues separating the PvP player base, no need to trade, no need to grind for hours to compete, and balancing completely independent of PvE. The funding system you decide to use could have different tiers of donation and support granting PvP Skins or Armor Sets. Add a PvP achievement system and maybe a back attachment ranking system.

It sounds like a ton of work. I would no life on that system no complaints for the rest of my life, being the happiest person alive lol. Sorry for the long read, I have alot more to add but its already too long. Let me know your opinions!

Hi! This would be cool, but it's not just a matter of money. Our development staff have limited time and we're already trying to hire more as fast as we can for our existing content requirements.

I want to improve pvp too, but currently we don't have the staff resources.



My overall thoughts -
I am pretty sad that Chris starts out his reply with "We dont have enough resources" Instead of acknowledging my attempt to find a compromise on funding the development of a PvP platform. My suggested pvp realm idea really wouldnt take that much effort. I am not an expert but I do know they have most the infrastructure tattered about to actually make something like my idea work. Its almost as if he read the first sentence, saw pvp, skipped the rest, and went immediately into his reply to me about not having enough money.

Its only a matter of time until more people have the desire to play PvP in path of exile, pve is getting stale, always around the same things over and over.

Almost no challenge for a good geared player, bosses are easy, we still have no real endgame and everyone is tired of doing maps...

I mean in such game PvP is meant to be the endgame... you dont farm for hours and hours just to clear monsters faster when you can beat 95% of the content with mediocre geared characters... if pvp was the real endgame people would play even more and farm more for their gear and actually have the desire to play pve in order to get better gear to compete in pvp.

I wish PvP was the upcoming endgame, supporter packs would be a good step forward into seeing who is willing to see it evolve even more and i bet things would be quite surprising.

Since i started this game in 2011 PvP has always been ontop of pve for me, but im a hardcore fan of diablo 2 old pvp so thats why im so stubborn on it.. but still if it wasnt for pvp being available in poe i probably would have stopped playing a LONG time ago... even if its not supported much.

Note my only supporter pack being ''aspirant'', mostly because i dont see any reason to buy a pack if its for pve support... pvp support pack ? i would have atleast 3 of them lol.

If PvP becomes more desirable in the future, my gear is still there and ready to go... as well as my PvP tournament thread on hold that i would probably launch back if things were to going to get better.

And yes, I whole-heartedly agree, PvP really is the end-game. I can do maps (kinda) but they do get boring (when I'm not dying), and I'm getting BEYOND FUCKING TIRED of running through merc laby trying to get my fucking Decree of Winter back. I just wanna step into arena and have fun killing people, not getting my shit packed in by no-skill-required 1-shot builds.

Hopefully what you're saying is right, people will shift over to pvp when they get tired of pve, then maybe we'll see some changes.

I think people would rather quit than to touch pvp. Pvp is endgame. How many people do you need to balance pvp? Heck i can think of more than enough ways to make pvp ok to all. The bigger problem more than the fucked up balancing is the actual motivation of people to do it. I dont know if it had been suggested beforr but Here's some on top of my head.

1. A map exclusive that drops special uniques, for the monthly guild pvp tournament, (given they actually balanced skills).

2. including pvp in the lore giving a common map that has monsters (lets say lvl 90+) but the catch is its cutthroat because lets face it a good chunk of the tree is pve oriented now that part will be actually good in pvp if there were monsters to use them on, giving rise to diversity.,

3. Factions. A later product if there's a substantial number actually doing pvp.

And so on


actually ANYTHING to promote it. But what we get is this lazy arena, dumb pvp master daily and 1v1s stack the highest possible damage disregard defense because whoever shoots 1st wins and this "we have no money bullshit". Now whos going to do pvp with that? If it's the most balanced and diverse game out there, without a goal there's not going to be pvp

He's asked I don't share details or emails and I will respect that, so please understand. But know we have an open dialogue going now, and if there's any updates or something I can share here I will.

I believe I can only say the following while still respecting his wishes:

Chris really liked the idea of a PVP supporter Pack, and this idea has never been discussed before! He wants PVP fixed, and will go to the team with it even if it might prove to be challenging.

I am hopeful because this is the best response we've seen yet. Please know that I am still very much a realist - this is no guarantee, but it's also not a definitive "No". I'm really glad he liked the idea, and I'm relieved to know it has not been discussed previously.

If you haven't posted in this thread yet and feel like this is something you would support PLEASE POST! We need the numbers, and this thread is not yet complete.

Let's all try to be hopeful, but also realistic :)
