GhazzyTV - Essence Drain & Contagion (or Bane/Soulrend) Trickster [SC/HC/Uber Elder/Shaper]

I am new to the game, I read about this build and is my first one i am making however, i am following the video guide on the the first post but i just noticed that the Passive skill tree is quite different here than on the video. can i still follow the one on the video or do i have to make a new one and follow the one posted here?

The video is from 2.6, the guide is updated to 3.0. So rather follow the written guide than the video.

One question, how do you sustain life? 40% of incoming damage is shifted to Mana (considering you have the chest). Are flasks plus Life regen enough? PoB doesn't show any Leech so I'm a bit surprised. Never played ED yet though.

In PoB you use a different gem setup than in your build description I noticed.
e.g. PoB: Contagion-Faster Casting-Increased AoE-Increased Duration
build: Arcane Surge instead of Increased Duration (I guess Arcane Surge is the better choice)

I have a question about jewels - if I get Allelopathy gloves, are Spreading Rot jewels worth bothering with, or should I stick to Grand Spectrum for mana?

This seems like a really solid build, just one question why is the <swift killer> <walk the aether> combo prefered to <Ghost dance> <shade form>?

The increaded damage form charges and free movement skill are that much better? the shade form branch of trickster gives really nice (defensive) bonuces, is the shade form branch better for a hard-core variant or, maybe with acro and pahse-acro as well?

ED has always been considered among the strongest & faster league starter builds and also one of the easiest to gear and become efficient with in SSF. The top tier 6L can be an easily farmed Tabula Rasa, if you really want you can farm enough to get that sweet +1 corruption as well.

The only real problematic step is when you want to go from this to become a more efficient boss killer which to make it as easy as possible for ED means either ES version or keep this version but throw the 1h/shield for a +3 chaos staff which will require either a lot of currency or some lucky crafting in SSF.

Can you explain why ES is the better Boss Killer? Where is the difference?

Basically it's thanks to going Occultist which is most effective being as ES compared to life.

I was actually wondering about a +3 staff when I had a +2 base drop. What would the second 6 link be? I thought of Contagion, but I can't figure out what the other 2 links would be.

Wouldn't bother using a secondary 6L tbh, I would just smack more utility stuffs in there. Like more increased duration supports for all utility/mobility where applicable.

Aye, I tried different setups around, as you might have noticed in the comment (the book of pages) section that some people prefered a different setup for it due to the Allelopathy gloves. The one in the written section here is my preference.

ED doesn't leech actually, it has a modifier that makes it so a % of the damage done with ED (including multiple targets) regenerates your HP similar to normal HP regen and/or flasking! It works very well, specially once you get Patient Reaper ascendancy.

I would prio the Rot jewels as they grant a really nice defensive layer :)

Damn, I always thought that ED is one of most boring skills to play ... decided to give a shot to your build in mayhem and I regret not trying it earlier. For sure gonna play it in 3.1 after lab farmer. Thanks!

Matter of taste, it provides 0 DPS boost but will help vs allies cannot die mobs and/or vaal totems.
Though, my builds setup is using Allelopathy gloves which handles that. I was never a big fan of Pierce pre-proj-nerf either way.

Hey, just a couple questions: What would you suggest over Pierce for Mayhem or single-target in general? And I noticed you still grabbed MoM and the nodes behind it on the fully maxed tree, is that even if you have a Cloak of defiance (for the absurd mana pool increases even though the MoM node is worthless?)
