100ex HLD tier1 build

Okay I'll share one of my builds as well!

The char in question is the Lioneye's char that can actually be considered a rather budget build since it takes around 100ex total to build it from scratch. The most expensive pieces of gear required are a +1 drillneck and a 6link 5offcolour Lioneye's chest. The build abuses the fact LA explodes on every single every frost wall it pierces combined with the free LMP we get from +1 bow and quiver. With Lioneye's chest and pierce passives from the tree we achieve 100% pierce.

The char beats pretty much everything out there aside from the 2 best EAs and a few other chars maybe. But, as you can see, it uses no legacy stuff, no mirrored stuff, no crits. Yet it "oneshots" anything with proper frost wall setups.

This chest allows us to effectively 7link our LA.


The weapon I'm using is this but as u can see from the gem links it doesn't even have to be 5linked necessarily. High attack speed, "hits cant be evaded" and the decent phys damage makes this bow a very good option to go for. You could also go for something like +1 stormcloud I guess but lioneye's saves quite a few points in the passive tree and gives a lot of lightning damage through conversion.

Another rather important piece of gear is either +1 gems rare boots or gloves so you can empower+enlighten your Wrath and Herald of Thunder. My third mana reservation thingy is Arctic Armour. This leaves us at enough mana to sustain our skills.

For jewelry I use 2 elreon rings with wed roll (from my LLD chars actually) and a simple rare amulet with life and wed and resistances. Belt is also a rare one with life, wed, resistances and of course the most important stat, reduced flask charges used.

In one of the 4links I use a spell totem that is supported with blood magic, faster casting and frost wall. the last 4link is for AA, blink arrow and 2 optional gems.

For jewels I just grab life, attack speed and increased damage.

A way to improve this char would be to use a 6link +1 arrow lioneye bow and legacy kaom chest. This would force us to skip Physical to Lightning gem (in my current setup, the 7th link equals almost 30% more dmg) from LA but the damage should still be there I guess. At the same time upgrading the char like this would mean more than tripling the cost of the build.

Do you think there is any chance of making it work without frost wall abuse?

Don't you think scaling physical dmg of the bow and than converting it to lightning via LA and Phys to Light will provide more dmg?

Reason I ask is coz I divised a 500% dmg build, links I would be using are

LA + phys to light + light pen + phys proj dmg + slower proj (or wed) + BCR

would have 25% chance to shock (from LA and tree)

One problem with phys scaling and LA is the lack of aoe nodes. Aoe is pretty important for LA shotgunning.

Also the phys damage of lioneye isnt all that amazing.. I'm fairly sure you end up with more damage with ele scaling combined with added light and 26 wrath and hot. Also, there is a fair amount of increased physical damage thanks to some nodes, drillneck and belt (80%+100%+24%).

If you find a 500 dps +1 arrow bow be my quest and make a phys build! Then it probably would be better! :P

And no, I dont think LA does anything at all without the frost wall abuse. It doesnt stick in the ground like EA does and the aoe is smaller as well.

Very nice build lapiz, one of the good makeups of a budget setup that works and could potentially become extremely powerfull with BiS items.

I was imagining something similar recently, and this seems like the baby version of it that still rekts most people out there.



Some pure lightning crit LA build could be potentially --> OP afak geared with proper crit gear and windripper is simply perfect for this, can attain 750 crit multi, 70% chance pretty easily. Not converting any phys but stacking pure lightning damage and boosting it with crit, could also potentially chill/freeze with the right gear. I'am currently achieving over 1.5k-12k lightning X-Y damage( not tooltip ) on a magicfind WR character ( much less dps oriented ) and 650 multi, 55 chance. I dont have a leg kaom to try this but i am 100% sure this would be twice as op as your flat LA setup lapz.

Note that you can use any skills when scaling it with pure L damage, roa, ice shot, LA, anything with high % base will work.

A quiver with +1 arrow would be ideal i know, but you get the idea behind these items.

Sure this can be done with a windripper as well. That quiver is useless though cause u will want to use a drillneck either way with LA. Drillneck is crazy good and the +1 arrow doesnt cost multiple mirrors.

I did go crit at first but the non-crit version just seemed... better in the end. Choosing jewelry, supporting ur skill usage and making the tree becomes a serious pain in the ass if you go crit. I guess it could be made viable and perhaps even better but it would require a ridiculous amount of currency. It sounds op at first sure but it isnt as simple as it seems.

As a side note, my flat damage with 3 arrows is 3k-18k at 0,37 aps (100% pierce, BCR, 15% chance to shock, 7,5% crit, 100% chance to hit!)

Did you try to replace BCR by Phsical projectile damage, pretty sur LA explosion is secondary damage when it happen on frostwall.

It's not. You need bcr with LA.
