Added Chaos Damage

Got a question about this one.
The Wiki describes the Quality as +0.5% Chaos damage per Q%. Will that only affect the gem, or all chaos damage? Example: If I use that unique bow with 25% Chaos conversion, a level 1 poison arrow, and this gem at 20% quality, then, if it is affected, the 25% and 30% chaos damage should both be raised, to 27.5% and 33%, respectively. Zaanus:
Global chat: Mechanics for A work one way, B for another, C for a third but also with A, B uses C but not A, and D uses A&B but not C ___ Isn't a "no" better than an ignore? |
|
that % effect should be 0.75% per quality, the wiki didn't fully update for patch 0.9.12t. also, due to how it states, it increases all chaos damage done by linked skills that have chaos damage from any source.

Then that's actually a really nice support.

I have a question regarding what increases the damage that this support gem offers. Chaos damaging abilities are increased from physical damage, so what beyond projectile damage nodes affects this gem? Would projectile attack nodes, such as iron grip, give any benefit for strength characters?
Thanks, Nil neat.

"Chaos damaging abilities are increased from physical damage"
No they're not? Chaos damage is Chaos damage; it's not Physical damage. | |
Actually, if you look at the description for Poison Arrow, then yes, chaos damage is increased due to physical damage. Obviously this is one instance and doesn't apply to Viper Strike, but nonetheless the amount of chaos damage done by Poison Arrow is dependent upon physical damage. I was just curious as to if any other form of damage would increase this node beyond just projectile damage.
neat.

Poison Arrow converts your Physical damage to Chaos, so yeah, of course that would benefit from Physical Damage increases :/ That's like saying fire-damage abilities benefit from Increased Physical because Burning Arrow works like that.
More accurate is to state it the other way around; they're the exceptions. Last edited by Vipermagi on Jan 9, 2013, 9:52:17 PM

Does explosion damage in Explosive Arrow benefits from this gem?

Yes, indeed it will. All damage should have this added. Degeneration is not damage.
