Ground Slam

I missed alot with the skill during lower levels, when i got the passive that gets rid of misses and crits and some decent base attack speed + increase attack speed + addded fire damage support links i have to say every areas became trivial. Including all of merciless, the only reasons i died was just complete carelessness.

With a 2hander it stuns alot and its so easy to kite with it. Not to mention the aoe is quite big compared to skills like sweep and cleave. Imo its on the strong side. It also doesnt cost anything to use with blood magic and high enough life regen.

Either need to tone ground slam down somewhat or improve the others. I wanted to try a different weapon on my marauder but the other aoe melee skills are just alot weaker and more risky to use so it felt counterproductive to use them. It would be nice if they were all close in usefulness.

If you hover over the spell you can see the damage breakdown, including how much physical damage Ground Slam does. Passives like those you mentioned buff the physical damage compontent only (obviously, other damage the scales off your physical dmg may in turn increase).
I've seen a bunch of people complaining about Ground slam "missing" mobs right on top of them, and I was in this camp the first 12-24 hours or so I was using this skill.

I've come to appreciate this skill, and while at times it may seem like its a Spam and forget no "talent" skill, you can improve your play via positioning and realizing that while just holding down whatever button fires off ground slam, if there is an enemy inside your arc and you havent adjusted your direction, or in other words allowed your cursor to see the enemy name plate meaning you hovered over them, then you won't hit them.

To me this is clearly done on purpose, otherwise the skill would be plain silly, and allow you to just Drinking Bird the groundslam key on your way to victory.

I am looking forward to the paperdoll damage being accurate as eyeballing it sometimes leads me to be excited about a weapon I shouldn't be.

This skill is so easy and versatile that you don't need to use any other skill or build in hardcore. You practically have a shotgun on the Marauder. I hope they nerf ground slam or improve cleave/sweep for other play styles.

Ground slam is amazing and once i used it i realized 2 things:
1)cleave/sweep are really weak compared to it,difference in range/stun is just enormous
2)i can sell every sword and axe that i find cause i will never use anything other than maces

There really is no choice if Youre going melee and wants to get the best out of it
cleave/sweep have tiny range compared to GS
lightning strike have tiny life leech compared to GS

Some buff to other melee skills would be really nice so i dont feel forced to use GS.

I'm using ground slam + stun support gem + some passives and gear, and get a 100%+ stun threshold reduction, meaning I stun everything I hit that isn't outright immune.
given that fact that it's also ranged, and a cone AoE, it can be pretty powerful.

Maybe if it was made into a different type of skill, a Crowd control type, but with very weak damage.
So I made a video, because I felt that was the best way to explain my question about the animation \ attack speed of ground slam.

Previous to tonight I'd been using a Piledriver with decent damage, but the real benefit was in the attack speed and through that near constant stun lock of most mobs.

Maybe Mark can shed some light on whether its a bug or just a product of having 25% attack speed on the slowest weapon netting a huge benefit.

Either way I haven't had this much fun in a long while, even if my Mace is still far from what I want. Though if it had 150+% IPD I don't think Wraeclast could handle it.

Edit: in the video I said monsters had +39% life, I don't know if it was that high, or that was the map quantity, but it was + monster life.

I didnt know ground slam had its own duration, glad i did or i wouldve wasted loads on a base attack speed maul. I really think the fact it has its own duration should be displayed on it in-game and the same with other gems with similar issues, like what affects them etc.

I mean the character skill sheet lies about the stats so you cant find outt from that, only way is to go and ask a dev which is kindve ridiculous.
