as far as leveling is concerned, to continue scaling normally in tree progression until you get first ascendancy and then you re-spec. Correct?

Welcome.

Leveling is a bit of personal preference. The most common suggestion is to level as a spell caster using a projectile spell. That way the first nodes in the Scion and Duelist areas are still relevant to the build, and you do not have to spend a lot of respec points switching later.

I tend to level as a bow build, sharp shot/blast rain. I switch once I have a a few of the chaos/DoT clusters on the tree and a bow for CA. Also the first two ascendancy points don't do much, so I tend to run Cruel lab and then Normal immediately after for the Deadeye node.

Edit - Serleth, I did notice that change. Still playing around with my tree in Beta, but as you point out, I don't think it hurt the build much.

Right click the 3.0 tree link, "copy link address" and then paste it into the offline planner's tree bar.

Loving the beta so far...i am progressing with this build currently at lvl 17...i am leveling with Spark and/or Split arrow as its working out ok AOE wise...

not sure if you have covered this but what are the changes to the bandits for this build in 3.0? Kill all?

Oak
  • Life Regeneration - Helps with Blood Rage
  • Phys Mitigation - Extra defense under your dodge/eva
  • Phys Damage - Not relevant to the build

OR

Krait
  • Attack/Cast Speed - QoL for movement/curse
  • Move Speed - Just QoL and our boots only have 10%
  • Dodge Chance - Boost to a strong defense the build already takes

I chose Krait on my current play though in the beta. However, Oak or Killing All(2 skill points) both sound like they could have a place as decent options.

I haven't decided what I'll put in the guide yet, but I'll probably settle on Kraityn to help scale the dodge chance and give a bonus to MS.

Oak wouldn't be a bad choice either, but the phys mitigation is only 2% so you'd be taking it exclusively because you'd prefer to have life regeneration.

Q: "Will Decay be a good support gem for this build?"
A: I'll play with it, but in all likelihood: no, except as a potential single target swap option, as it will almost definitely require a "hit" in order to proc the decay. Where it can be used easily (and probably most usefully) is as a sixth link for the Frenzy CoH setup, similar to how an Essence of Decay crafted bow would be.

Q: "What about Efficacy?"
A: We'll have to see how it scales at gem level 20, but it seems specifically targeted as an ED/Blight or conversion support. That said, it's worth noting that Void Manipulation and Rapid Decay both scale at 20-39% more damage and have 10% increased as quality, while Efficacy (for now, anyway) starts at 15% more. It's also unclear whether the noted 10% increased modifiers are BOTH a result of quality, or if it's only the duration that scales with quality. In all likelihood, following the tradition of other multiplicative gems, both the increased damage and duration are factors of quality, AND IF the multiplier scales similarly at 1% per level that it will cap at 34%, making it less attractive for this build than VM or RD.

Q: "And Vile Toxins? Lesser Poison?"
A: This is not a poison build, so no.

Hi all, i have a question about projectile damage nodes. they still boost cloud damage? so drillneck and all proj passives still work? Just read on some thread some1 sad proj nodes dont boost DOT damages. In terms of damage only Dirty Technic affected this build?
The [3.0] Scion Tentative Passive Tree tree is currently missing a few nodes. There are two not connected pieces. Do I just directly connect them with the dex nodes?

"Damage over Time is now never considered Projectile Damage, and so is not naturally affected by modifiers to Projectile Damage. Some skills, such as Caustic Arrow, will gain a modifier which will allow modifiers to Projectile Damage to apply to that skill's inherent Damage over Time effect. Like the above modifier, this will not affect any other Damage over Time the skill might cause." - Damage Over Time Changes - Part 2(Emphasis added)

Projectile Damage still effects the cloud damage of Caustic Arrow, the DoT is still delivered as a payload by a projectile, and still gains bonuses from all the same modifiers effecting the skill in 2.6.x. In 3.0 Dirty Techniques has been changed and no longer boosts the damage of this skill. All other passives the build took still function the same as they do on live. Serleth has posted a tentative 3.0 tree in the original post if you want to see where the build currently stands for the beta.

While you are leveling and before you have your final Ascendancy Passive points those dex notes are allocated. After your 7th and 8th Ascendancy points are allocated (into Path of the Ranger) you respec those dex nodes (because you can now use the Ranger's starting location) and use them to pick up passives your build might still be missing (life, Damage, Jewel, etc.).

Note - Uber Lab is not currently available in the Beta, so those nodes will need to stay connected for beta testing until Uber becomes accessible.
