[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)

CA will be fine. Drillneck will still work if you want Pierce QoL, otherwise use Rigwald's Quills, grab the CA 40% dmg enchant, and it's fine. CA is now getting base radius increase every five levels so the AoE will be fine.

But if I remember you said you were only rolling one build this league.

If you want to do the high-end challenges like Shaper, Uber Atziri, end-game grinds, don't roll CA.

Then agein a howa build? or is there a new meta :-)

Any thoughts on Cherrubim's Maleficence? They just cranked the chaos damage on it to 80%.

Leech increase is wasted on CA and having no resists will make capping those even more of a struggle. And with the AOE rework/nerf it's still kind of in the air how significant having a Carcass Jack would be in this build.

It's actually pretty annoying that they made Cherrubim's into arguably the best chaos chests but very suboptimal for actual chaos skills. God knows the [whatever skill] + Added Chaos + Void Manip double dipping meta needed another buff for its last league.

Yeah, HoWA will be top build again.

So with the new patch, would it be better to craft a +5 bow instead of +3 with 30% DoT?

+1 all gem
+2 bow gem
+2 chaos gem

We can hit lvl 30 CA with this setup.

Chaos gems are restricted to staves, wands and daggers. Can't get it on a bow.

RIP, I didn't think it through. Path of Building says adding 2 gems level adds 15k dps, I can only dream. If only there was a way for ED to stack MF tho.

It does. IIRC for MF purposes it's the first instance of DoT inflicted upon a monster that takes the MF values (mostly critical for the IIR gem).

So you could fire an arrow and then connect with a 6L ED and still get the IIR gem benefit from the bow setup. It'd probably be unreliable, just because of the nature of the fight and constantly switching damage sources, but I mean you'll still get 20/240 regardless.

HoWA is strong but would be somewhat hard as a starter build - you'd need to use some other weapon and/or skill since HoWA won't be available day 1 and will be very expensive throughout the league.

Whispering Ice - converted to fire is very strong, end-game viable, and you can go Scorching Ray-CwC-Firestorm while waiting to get a Whispering Ice. This build is going to be meta though and uses CI-int gear just like HoWA so it'll be expensive.

Fire Nova Mines - converted to chaos - is a boss killer - and is also a good starter build choice - you'll need 2 consuming darks and an Infernal Mantle - but you can level/get by on fire nova mines while waiting to purchase these items. This build will likely go meta and will be expensive, especially the Uber Lab enchant.
