[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)
" You both have me beat, and will likely hit the finish line before I do, per usual. That said been having a blast playing, and some decent drops too. I need to be more disciplined, or get out of the, "I can link it myself" mindset about somethings. (mostly a reminder to myself) For the earlier conversation about life/defensive options, I'm sitting at 3.9K life, lvl 85 with Phase (I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it Serleth, I've picked it up almost every league and notice more avoidance). By 90 I should be closer to your 4.x number, with 5 more levels and hopefully replacing the tricorne and getting life on my neck piece. I've been working on clearing my atlas in standard, maybe one or two maps a night. I've been having a good time pushing the character in square T13 and T14 maps (didn't have any T15s saved). And even in an effective 4L, because IIQ and IIR, the build is preforming well. Also I think attempting this harder content is helping reduce the panic flask usage, knowing how many rounds to shoot, and working on that manual dodge. All good things helping me push the character and know what I can and cannot complete. |

Still a bit new to Path of Exile and sorry if this has been asked before, but why do we not go for Method to the Madness with the added chaos damage on the skill tree?
|
|
I use Method to the Madness when leveling, and find it a great help, but I did respec out of the wheel for Dirty Techniques.
Comparing four different uses of the seven points it takes to allocate the Method to the Madness wheel: Method to the Madness Wheel
Dirty Techniques Wheel
Four Jewel Sockets
Growth and Decay Wheel
To my understanding the reason Method to the Madness is not in the posted tree is due to point efficiency. Damage wise it is on par/better than the Growth and Decay wheel, but Growth and Decay provides better overall benefit to the build. The 1.4% life regen helps offset Bloodrage. The +20 int help us hit the min int requirement for Concentrated Effect and Item Rarity Support gems. The +10 dex is a pathway to another Jewel socket for the build. While chaos resistance is good to have, there are so few monsters who deal this damage type it is easier to manually avoid the hits than to worry about chaos res on tree and gear. All of that said, the 'final' posted tree in the build guide is done at character level 88/89, any points after that are used at player discretion to use where they will get the most benefit. So if you want to use further points to take the Method wheel, go for it. |

ive been thinking about 2 ideas i wanna share with you guys:
1. occu/slayer instead of occu/deadeye - some dude that i partied with said he might do it, and when i think about it its not bad at all, culling strike + 30% more dmg to rare/unique might beat deadeye bounses, what do you think? edit1: i dunno if cull strike on slayer node means the cloud can cull ><, tried to google it to find an answer but cant find any, i know cull strike wont work on ca degen, but maybe it works diffrently with slayer cull strike, maybe. 2. im yet to work on a skill tree, but maybe respecing to ES?, once i get some time ill try figure out a basic skill tree and see pros/cons vs current skill tree, ill share it here too ofc, Last edited by erani#1319 on Sep 13, 2016, 12:00:52 PM

The wording in the Scion's Slayer Ascendancy is just 'Culling Strike,' it will still require an actual hit. So you could cull with the the arrow itself, or with the curse set up (but then miss the benefit of IR).
The additional damage to bosses is nice, but the bigger issue is the lack of ability to use Path of the Ranger. Choosing "Path of" for either Witch or Duelist grants almost nothing to the current build. With CI path of the Witch becomes a better option, but it seems like the entire tree would need to be reworked for it to function, you lose acrobatics & jewel sockets, harder to sustain Bloodrage, Carcass Jack would no longer be recommended, and a lot of potential for magic finding is lost... Then the questions become; Can it work as a Magic Find build? Is the Scion the best/good enough option for CI? Do share if you find answers to these questions. |

Thanks for the in-depth answers, Chrono.
