[outdated] Caustic Arrow Solo Map MFer (20/300+)

Was wondering if I could get an opinion on a super tanky life/ES hybrid Shadow version for hardcore. This is what I was thinking of.

The idea with this build is that instead of using Drillneck, you use Soul Strike. Since you don't have Drillneck equipped, the pierce and accuracy talents are no longer relevant and you can skip them.

This has more +% life than the OP's build on top of +200% to energy shield and Mind over Matter. With the Trickster talents and Soul Strike it causes ES to start regenerating about 0.5 seconds after you stop taking damage, which is nuts. The regen is boosted 60% by Patient Reaper which more than makes up for the penalty on Soul Strike.

The drawback of course is less damage, this tree has +335% increased damage to the cloud while the OP's build has 476% once you count the drillneck bonus. However, it also has 30% more AoE radius so you can hit more stuff at once. The major upside is it about quadruples your EHP vs. the life build without subjecting you to the RNG of Acrobatics. If you put a Spirited Response gem in the Witch jewel slot and use Rallying Cry you can run Discipline and still have enough mana to cover MoM for your whole HP pool, which will increase your EHP even further.

Finally vaaled this beauty and as suspected it's pretty nice for the aoe increase

Well maybe i'm retarded and don't see the obvious choice, but what yould you guys use as a 5th link for essence drain to have some more single target dps?

Depends... It's already got all the really good stuff, all it's missing is resists and the 6th link. If you want the perfect setup, I'd start fresh with a white Maraketh, and keep using this one as is until the other is finished.

If you *have* a bunch of fusings - 800-1500 seems to be the norm, then I'd be awfully tempted. But if you have to save for it, it's cheaper to buy a 6L than craft it.

Did you mean cheaper to buy a 6L thEn craft it (as in buy a white 6L and craft), or cheaper to buy a 6L thAn craft it (as in buy the ideal 6L already crafted bow).

I have ~300 fuse, but I don't have the multi-mod master craft yet. Have like 8 ex and 8 divine- cheapest 6L maraketh I see on poe is 15ex, so even there can't do it. Guess I need to keep saving and farming?

It's cheaper to buy a white bow that's already a 6L. Usually. You do need to keep an eye on the market though. If you're willing to drop the 6% movement on the Maraketh, you can save several exalt - I picked up my current one for 1.5ex. Just make sure it's ilvl64+.

Six linking will cost you 8-900 fusings, on average, which is 8-9exalt if you're willing to sit there and do it yourself. 1500 if you use the bench. Of course, if RNG hates you, you might end up spending more than the 1500 it would take to just use the bench. /me shrugs. RNG.

- 6 link this one
- buy another Maraketh 6L white
- buy another non-Maraketh 6L white

As for the crafting, I'd pay a crafting service to do it. This league I've used this guy with good results:

Worst part about getting a 6L Maraketh Bow is the wait... I've seen 2 on poe.trade in the last 3 days... and missed both...

1 was a few days ago when I didnt hear the live notification while eating and watching TV... the other was a few minutes ago when I turned on computer to check, one had been posted 22 minutes ago, and was already gone...

... the wait continues... I think I have the currency for the craft once I finally GET a Maraketh Bow... in the meantime, I finally upgraded to a 4L6S Carcass Jack and swapped an Andvarious for Ventor's at least in the short term (6% IIQ, 45% IIR, 40Life, 17/27/39 positive resists), and swapped Inc AoE gem in my 5L for IIR gem

Just do it like me and craft a Maraketh yourself, I have mine since like day 3 of the league heh.
