I followed this build for my first character this season. It is by far the best build guide I've seen in Poe. If a friend of mine wanted to try this amazing game I would send this -as amazing- guide without even thinking.
Even if the build and the guide are over the top, I think i'm going to switch to a blade vortex variant now : I never tried it and it seems a bit stronger in the endgame (and a bit weaker before). Also, I've been very lucky (or i feel i've been) with some metallic fossil spam on my shaped weapon that turned out well ! It's probably not that good but I was wondering how much it could sell for if i was going to roll something else. Anyway, this post was mainly to express my thanks to the autor of the guide, and discuss the BV vs Arc variant of the elementalist with you too ! " Oh, I see. Path of Building is a 3rd party tool to plan PoE builds, including passive trees, skills and items. It can be found here. Just download the latest version, install it and open it. In there you will find the option to import a build from pastebin. Last edited by WgCdr_Enriquez#5894 on Sep 12, 2018, 4:43:21 PM

why would you even go beacon as merc lab?
with liege yo uget ~70% inc ele dmg and with pendulum 75% for 5sec why you you even got beacon at all? O.o |
|
" Beacon helps buff shock which is a big part of this setup. |

What about golems? I feel they are a bit useless, always dying like in the blink of an eye and reconjuring them all the time becomes tedious. :D
Any way to solve this somehow? It was better when I used to wear Skullhead but I am no more doing this. |

can i use abyss jewel that adds cold damage to spells only? not while holdign a shield?
|
|
Hot damn. Running this in Delve league, randomly got Ahn's Heritage in a T2 map...
I guess now I have to find two Fragility jewels? |

@tarzan123
Not worth to scour chance, would only be worth it on an Elder Unset Ring base and then also only if you have a Mark of the Shaper.
@tirshea
The Soul Eater from Soulthirst is indeed pretty nice, but a little unreliable since you lose all stacks when using a flask.
Speaking of flasks, this is where your main focus should be at now. You should have all base flasks for this build from quest, switch to them and update your life flask to an Eternal Life Flask, then bring all to 20% quality (8 whetstones per 1 bauble at gear vendor in town) and roll them one by one. THe unique flasks you're currently using are more or less useless. While working towards this, also try to upgrade each slot that currently has no life on it and fix the gem setup. The Shadowstitch isn't very useful for this build, you're better off with a Tabula Rasa. But you're a little too high level to farm one in Blood Aqueduct now, so guess you gotta keep your current chest until you find/chance an Inpulsa's. The rest is basically just following the SSF progression guide.
@Crooksed
I'm with WgCdr_Enriquez on this one, it's just not worth reserving that mana for Herald of Thunder, which especially with Inpulsa's never really gets the chance to do anything.
@bennyt40
Not worth reserving mana for Herald of Ice when you can get the same effect for no survivability loss. More cold damage does nothing for us, having 1 cold damage does the same as having 100 in terms of chilling with Beacon of Ruin. Wrath is only meant for Essence Worm, or if you are stupidly rich with a Wrath Aul's Uprising.
@ScorpZero
Shock Effect and Explosion, then Life. Damage is the least important one.
@kaluo
I think you mean which maps to shape? That's pretty much down to which maps you like to run, unless you want to shape for monetary gain. Haunted Mansion/Underground Sea are great maps for experience gains.
@Bootleg_Mix
Nothing can beat Essence Worm + Wrath, more damage multipliers are always superior to increased damage multipliers of the same value due to diminishing returns with the latter.
@BioHazardX7
Inpulsa is the overall better choice, that Tabula would only be better for some bossfights where you don't need the extra life and shock protection.
@kekemeke
Flask Duration for sure, they give too much of an offensive and defensive boost.
@ZzzZZzzZZZZ
Thank you! I must say i've never really looked into the BV Elementalist build, but just from a quick look it seems that it has more single target damage in exchange for build consistency and safety. The biggest difference is that it's close range, that's already less safe by default.
The precasting playstyle is not for everyone, although I wouldn't call that a clear downside now. It's just a matter of taste. What is a clear downside is the lag and crashes Inpulsa + triple Herald + Proliferation will cause, not sure how much of a problem that will become. Speaking of Inpulsa's, the explosions are also not nearly as well scaled as in this build, but that gets made up by the Herald effects and higher initial hit damage. It looks like all its leech comes from either Warlord's Mark or a Berek's Grip, which both can be countered by Hexproof, reduced curse effect mapmod + less curse effect on bosses or 90% ailment avoidance mapmod. No Leech maps are probably very scary to run at that close range too. Enfeeble is also not part of the base setup, but it seems that it can be integrated with some payoffs. It also can't do Elemental Reflect maps and can die to all the reflect sources i've listed that we don't get hurt by. Sure, it's easy to avoid them with a close range build, but keep that in mind when using Vaal BV. Final point is overall build cost. Proper statsticks are just really expensive, let alone good crit items. And without them the build may just not even outdamage this one, while having all those above downsides. That said, take all of this with a grain of salt. It's just based on a quick observation and i'm not trying to shit on that build. It seems like a strong and fun build if you can live with all the payoffs, but in direct comparison to my build it trades off too much reliability for my taste.
@DjNanos
I suggest you to reread the relevant section to understand how Beacon of Ruin works and what it does for us offensively and defensively. In short: it's one of the strongest nodes on Elementalist!
Without it, we wouldn't be able to put meaningful shocks on bosses nor would we be able to make Hypothermia work reliably. These are two huge more multipliers we gain, the conditional increased damage from Pendulum of Destruction is nothing against that. Seriously, Pendulum in its current form is one of the worst nodes out of all ascendancies.
@ScorpZero
If you don't have Liege of the Primordial yet, that will already make things better. Phys/Chaos damage still can hurt them, this is where higher gem levels (= more base life) and the Consecrated Ground from our Sulphur Flask helps.
@Experiment625
Yeah, both of those work.
@Kirian42
Nice, good luck with the Fragility jewels! YOu can only obtain them by vaaling Crimson Jewels, so depending on vaal:chaos rate and Fragility price it may be cheaper to just buy them.
@everyone else: Thanks! twitch.tv/enkivt Last edited by Enki91#7725 on Sep 13, 2018, 8:32:10 AM
