Not sure if this is a bug, but when I pair riposte with sweep - the sweep AOE attack does not work. Riposte attacks ONE CREATURE ONLY.
With staff + riposte + sweep: Perform a deadly counter-attack when you block. Counter-attack with this skill when you block. According to the tooltip, there is no reason my sweep should not work with riposte. The description specifies that on block you will counter attack on block with the specified skill. The gem does not say anything about said skill being butchered. If this is not a bug the tooltip needs clarification as to not deceive players. |

You misunderstood. Riposte is not a support gem. it's an attack gem which you cannot use manually, it only triggers automatically on block.
Take sweep out of the linked socket and you'll see it still works exactly the same way. It does not state on the gem that it would use linked attack skills at all. |

I think it should have a scaling bonus to block(0-4) or flat like tempest shield, maybe just while dual wielding. Or trigger a buff that adds block chance for a few secs after blocking. (posted the same at reckoning)

When I use Vengeance + Riposte + Reckoning, on block animanion I see only reckoning animation.
When I use only Riposte + Vengeance, I can see Riposte animation. Does this skill gems works simultaneously? Or I simply can't see animation? Or only I can't see animation of Reckoning + Riposte ? :) | |

I made a build with dual wielding (wing of entropy) and i have 100% block chance applied to spell block (lazhwar and rainbowstride). This gives me 50% block chance to attacks and spells. It works great so far @ lvl 63.
BUT RIPOSTE is NOT COUNTER BLOCKING spells or projectiles even if i am standing close to the attacker. Actually, riposte works with melee splash. When melee splash is linked, a tooltip of riposte changes. Even more, stats change too. Damage reduction to main target applies, as well as increased melee physical damage. There is an animation of splash when the riposte triggers, but it deals no damage to other targets.

I could see culling strike being useful. Increases damage, attack speed feels a bit irrelevant for these skills so no worries about the decrease, and increases the change that the counter will eliminate a threat.
