[3.10] Sovyn's Lazy Pally - Tanky Templar with Max Block
I got a newbie Q about nodes resulting in this::
"XX% increased Defences from equipped Shield" Does this mean that that % increase applies only to the shield's armor/evasion stats? I am trying to do a scion build which would be a lazy tank (I am very lazy and a die hard fan of Sovyn's build, can you tell ha ha) and wondering about how effective this specific one is. Thanks |

" It's good to have. Yes, it only applies to the shield's stat - for example, with my suggested high evasion shield - let's say 500 evasion - if you had 100% increased Defences from equipped Shield on your tree, you would get 1000 evasion from the shield.
I have updated the 120 point build in the guide (again) and am now working on the progression builds, with any luck I'll have them up tonight.
Hard call on which way to go with the post 1.0 build. After two days of trying different options, I think I've about had it -- but it's probably the best it can be for "most people," so, enjoy. :)
OK everyone! The guide is now fully updated for 1.0.0 with new progression builds. Enjoy!

" Good call, I finally converted you to the dark side of no reduced damage from crits. /evillaugh I liked that life leech, ring of life, skip marauder variation the best anyway. " This build converts pretty easily into Scion. Just take the tree posted, and start at the bottom left Scion node and take the 3 18% resist nodes to get into the ring of life area. It's smooth sailing from there. It may be a little rough early on because the duelist area barely has any block nodes compared to the Templar area, but end game there should barely be any difference. Edit: Just kidding, there's a bunch of block nodes right next to the bottom left Scion start node. Last edited by seiferoth10 on Oct 25, 2013, 2:30:11 AM

Hey Sovyn, is there a Scion equivalent to this build? It was mentioned before but could you explain how the Scion tree could link to this build?.. Thanks!

PigofPain,
Basically from Scion starting area take the following 5 nodes first: Melee Damage 15%, Fire resistance, cold resistance, lightning resistance, Sentinel. Sentinel is in Sovyn's new 1.0.0 skill tree - so from there follow it so in the end you have almost the same tree. Hope that helps. ------------------------------------------------------ I tried to do one trying to use as many closest nodes as possible (and then going to the templar area): It kinda sucks a bit - 150 less dex than Sovyn's build, 32% total block, no Ondar's guile, less liefe %, more armor evasion, more phys dmg from one handed weapons. Hope this works... http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgAAAdwB5wSzBS0JMwz3FCAUTRRxFz4Y1xmFGjIaOBv6HRQjTSQlJKol3ydPKLUoxTGeMgk0vjWSNdY26DbpOuE8LUA2QKBBqkSeRQpGaUd-SshMNU3jT31QR1FgU7tT31ivWNtZ82BLYIhlTWaeZtlsRm5pbqpwfXJscql07XgNeu982YBWhNmE74jxkFWZK5uDnrmiAKQZplenMKeEqW6plavFrFmsqqyvr2ywc7RztPm18rc-vYG-ir6nvry_1cAaw4bFisauypDQR9E242rnY-eR6dXstu9O8B_xivH08kXzvvTG9zL3vvjr-tL-Cv6P Last edited by MildlyClever on Oct 25, 2013, 5:43:31 AM

I tried to find this question in the hundred other pages but had no luck.
How important is it to start as a Templar instead of a Marauder? It seems like as a marauder I could gain slightly more HP and loose some physical damage. With the point being to be tanky, this seems like a positive trade off. I just died to rupture on HC so I'll be trying the build again. I'd love to hear your opinion on the min/max side of templar vs other possible starting classes. Also, are there any major skill gems I'd miss out on by going with marauder.
" Many thanks for the info :)
So which attack skill do you use? I thought about Infernal Blow, because Templar gets some useful upgrades therefore during playthrough. However, Infernal Blow seems to use alot of mana, and since i started new in the domination league i dont have possibilities to counter that. And why should we use an evasion shield and none with armor?
