[3.10] Sovyn's Lazy Pally - Tanky Templar with Max Block
" Incidentally, I added Facebreaker to the weapon section of the guide last night as an interesting alternative. I'll also comment that we may all need to get our resists to 75% without Purity depending on how much aura costs increase in 1.0.0.
thanks for the guide, im following it, level 24 until now and im using facebreaker until higher level, i shouldnt have any problems doing that right?,
i know that i will 'miss' the physical damage bounses, but facebreaker is such an imba item i love it :p.
" Nope! The only thing is you will have to use certain skills that are compatible with Facebreaker (like Infernal Blow) -- it's a little bit limiting, but not too bad. Glad you are finding the guide useful. :)
Great build, do you think this could work in the new nemesis league without any good items from the stash?

|
I started this build the other day and I just reached lvl 60 on HC and it was fairly easy but pretty slow using a random crappy axe with heavy strike. The lack of aoe is the big issue for me, I tried using infernal blow but I didn't really like it. Helped a lot when I was able to acquire a 5L chest and add splash.
I think starting Nemesis it's going to be a lot tougher but I think every build would be starting from scratch. Last edited by CrazylikE on Oct 20, 2013, 8:15:29 PM

" Absolutely. As mentioned in the guide, it is important to me that no special items are required, so the guide is written to accommodate that. They help of course, but I leveled up just fine with absolutely nothing. I know how hard it is for new players (or new in a league) to get specific uniques, even the common ones, so builds requiring them are not great for starting new leagues, first characters or self-found. Welcome!
" I suppose it comes down to chance in terms of the weapon upgrades dropping at the time of need. Crafting can help (as it did me) but again, it comes down to chance. Sorry to hear that chance did not favor you, I have had some bouts of that too. Ideally, the weapon should be upgraded several times in normal difficulty, once or twice in cruel, and a couple times in merciless. Boarding axe with good mods for normal, tomahawk with good mods for cruel, siege axe with good mods for merciless (look for attack speed + physical damage here), then perhaps a Soul Taker for the late mapping game, ideally. Don't forget Facebreaker to bypass the upgrade game, at least for a while. Multistrike dropping for one relatively early really helps -- splash can be good too if you happen to be able to keep up with its mana draw. Alternatively, Reave is a decent option for an AOE skill not requiring splash to work well. Congrats on 60 in hardcore -- keep up the safe going, friend.
" If you want AoE, use Reave/Lightning strike/Cleave. Allthough they all want multistrike gem to be great. The great thing with this build is that we can use any 1h weapon. just level up an extra skill gem so that you can switch if you find an awesome dagger, mace, sword etc.. Did start a new templar and havent got an extra multistrike, and damned its painful to play without it... |
|
" I do think so. Slow but steady it will work. Since we can use any type of 1h weapon. any type of armor etc... the posibility to have insane resists if it's not possible to run multiple auras anymore. Think the un-lazy templars will have it easier. but hey we can learn to use molten shell, totems, enduring cry, curses also. And skeletons. But then it might require more then 3 keys to press to clear the game... |

" I kind of forgot that we could use any 1h weapon, so I was only keeping a lookout for axes, however I never found any rare swords anyway. So reave wasn't really an option, although I did lvl it up as I went. Also, no multistrike dropped so that wasn't an option. I ended up linking heavy strike with blood magic, added melee damage and life on hit that I could switch out for faster attacks later and then eventually managed to add splash on top of that with a 5L chest. At that point, the clear speed was very good, but it took me 60 lvls to get there :P I wish I rolled swords instead so that I could use Reave. Anyway, it was fun face tanking everything, I didn't feel I was in danger at all, but I think most of my gear, other than the weapon, was pretty good. Had capped resists all the time, and used the unique shield with 40% block and the amulet that added spell block. Think that combo helped a lot. |
