Hi.
Could anyone give me any tips on Ascendancy. I'e not yet ran any labs. I want to go Path Finder ultimately and am planning to keep going with this toon to 90 +, maybe even high 90's hopefully. Is there any great benefit of going deadeye until i hit 90 or can i just go pathfinder straight away? which i'd like to do, but don't want to nurf myself too much and fear i may be if i choose to go pathfinder from the off. I'm pretty new to this game, it baffles me, but in a good way :-) thanks for any pointers, |

Really based on your playstyle.
Deadeye gives more damage for sure. Pathfinder I've been very interested in, with all the utility it provides. Flasks are secretly op as hell, if you haven't invested or paid much attention to flask nodes in the past, it is a treat. It's the only ascendancy I haven't played yet out of the 3. I've been enjoying Raider a lot. Incredibly fast clears and high mobility. Been messing around a lot on Standard with it, you just zoom around the map. hi Saranghaeyo
Would you have any idea of the DPS increase? i mean. My play-style is map running and wanting to clear them as quickly as possible i suppose so i'd have thought DPS would be the most valuable for this. I had the impression that with the correct gear and flask setup that pathfinder, once using the flask buffs, would be high enough DPS to be able to complete the higher maps. Theorycrafting for me in this game is... complicated i've moved form Diablo which is much, much easier to work out :-D am loving POE though. |

Well with Deadeye you gain an additional projectile so whatever your tooltip says, you will increase that by one-fold as it does not take into account that value in tooltip. Is quite nice.
That said, I've found that flask management in terms of how you use them and how quickly they are refilled play a huge role in clear speed, which is basically effective DPS. Maybe if I have time this league to make another character I'll look into it a bit more. But I think full uptime of, for example, Atziri/Diamond/Vinktar is pretty damn good, probably better than +1 Projectile from initially thinking. My 2 cents about Pathfinder for physical bow builds:
For mapping Pathfinder is superior to Deadeye. The flask efficiency + Nature's Adrenaline + Quicksilver flask boosts your movement speed (an extra 29%), while permanent flask uptime adds a lot of damage and improve your defenses. I would recommend starting out with Atziri's Promise / Basalt / Diamond / Quicksilver / Instant Life, eventually replacing the Basalt with a Taste of Hate. Switching out Quicksilver for tough fights (e.g., Basalt for Izaro). The single life flask is plenty with pathfinder's minor nodes, healing for 1761 each use. I did use a secondary life flask for the end game trials though! I also tried Vinktar's, but could not figure out how to make it work. It is hard to determine how much DPS the shock effect adds, plus it is really hard to sustain. --- I felt that it is probably only viable for Blade Vortex. As for ascendancy points, I would recommend Master Surgeon, Veteran Bowyer and finally Nature's Boon. Taste of Hate with boosted flask efficiency and Nature's Boon help with both kinds of reflect as well. I can easily run double reflect maps (with vaal pact; worth it!). However, one may also argue that puncture trap would synergize well with Master Herbalist, possibly eliminating one of the only drawbacks I noticed so far on my Tornado Shot/Frenzy Pathfinder: The strong commitment to elemental damage. On my Deadeye, I always had the double dipping poison puncture trap to resort to (benefiting nicely from all the projectile damage nodes) --- so far this only came up once when I accidentally killed the chicken in village ruin before damaging the dog, which promptly became almost immune to elemental damage (in combination with existing map mods). I also picked up Primal Spirit because it adds strength, intelligence and further boosts flask charge recovery --- but may eventually spec out of it. Not sure yet. For reference, Taste of Hate, Atziri's Promise and Nature's Adrenaline contribute a 65% increase in tornado shot tooltip damage for me on a 5link (TS - Inc Crit Strikes - PTL - WED - PPA, using Reach of the Council). Diamond Flask does not show on the tooltip, but my estimate is another 30% increase in overall damage (using 60% base crit chance, 300% crit multiplier, which you can achieve easily on a budget). Taste of Hate and Basalt each provide an additional 4% physical damage mitigation. Last edited by effort#4054 on Jun 24, 2016, 10:42:58 PM

guys thanks for the feedback. I know somewhere in this huge thread this will have been commented on, i had a root around for the needle but alas no joy. I feel the insights on pathfinder are really helpful for noobs like myself to be able to better choose ascendancy paths. Much appreciated!

" Sorry Increased Critical Hit was my intent but it's really called Increased Critical Strike. apologies What I was looking for was a red and blue gem to replace the red and blue PTL and WED gems. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
