I was wondering which guide is the more refined between NeverSink's and this one:
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1597496
They seeem to have slight variations on the skill tree.
Can anyone help me understand the difference?
Which one should I follow?
Thanks in advance.
Neversinks thread is partially about his build and partially about phys bow builds in general.
The difference between his guide and the one you linked? None really.
There are a 1000 small variations of the "standard phys bow build". The guide you linked to is one of those variations. It is all about the same setup really. Stack % increase to phys dmg, attack speed, crit, crit multi, life, movement speed etc. and go for some ascendancy class / item setup.
In my opinion 90% of the guides on Ranger forums are not really guides but an item setup / variation of the standard core setup. You could delete them all and not really tell the difference.
Agreed. There are tons of guides up on this forum with minor changes in pathing on the passive tree, but the build is still more or less the same.
However, looking at LNB's guide I see a clear difference in gems used compared to Neversinks.
Only looking at the LA setup,
LNB recommends:
LA - Chain - GMP - FA - WED - PPAD
and he also recommends HoI+Hatred (Edit: nevermind the Heralds, LNB changed it to HoA as well)
Neversink recommends:
LA - Chain - GMP - PTL - WED - PPAD
and HoA+Hatred
I assume that someone already tested for the optimal gem setup on LA. Do you have an idea which variant to follow? Both in respect to main skill and Heralds?
Appreciate any feedback,
P

What do you need to have up to deal with reflect maps
Arctic armor, vaal pact?
To utilize the full power of a bow Ranger you need to switch up your gem setup from time to time.
Phys reflect = LA + PTL for 100% phys -> ele conversion
Elemental reflect = Remove Hatred, Heralds, WED + PTL (or added fire) and switch in Grace or Haste instead.
For double reflect you are kind of screwed.
Thanks, assuming i went deadeye for chain, whats the third green gem for LA then? FA?
LA + GMP + CHAIN + PTL + WED + PPAD. I suppose you could drop chain if you went for deadeye. In that case use FA instead. If you have trouble with reflect drop PPAD and use FA instead.

Optional depends on passives / gear and so on.
To me it seems the main reason LNB recommends FA instead of PTL seems to be a matter of reflect safety. If you have 100% elemental conversion without Acuity / VP you will more vulnerable to reflect. With FA instead of PTL you split the damage in half, so phys reflect is not dangerous at all and elemental reflect is less dangerous.
Has anyone tested the elem dmg penetration passives next to Lethality? With a PtL + WED setup they be quite powerful. Even the phys dmg TS setups have significant elem damage with hatred, HoA, etc...
I've been using this build for the past couple of weeks and it's super fun to pay and very strong.I'm currently level 70 and i'm planing to switch from Frenzy to Blast rain for single target, but i don't understand how the blast rain setup is suppose to work. It's linked to cast on crit but there is no other spell to trigger the cast on crit. Can anyone explain how this is suppose to work?
