TS is so strong that I'm finding that I don't use puncture. I'm thinking about expanding the split arrow utility shot in its place to include increased rarity and increased quantity gems.

I'm running a half assed MF setup in the dried lakes, split arrow seems to kill stuff with the 4-link, COH,AM setup anyway

I'm in the exact same situation. I have TS on a 6L setup and it melts just about everything. My 5L Puncture was getting used once or twice per map, sometimes just because I was lazy and didn't feel like clicking on a monster again.

The issue I've seen is that in the rare situation TS does not kill an enemy quickly, there's a lot of other trouble going on - most likely, I'm running for my life because of some sort of horrifying physical damage vomit all over the screen. So yes, landing 1-2 Puncture shots in these situations helps and is better than nothing, but it's not a huge amount of damage because I can only fire once, maybe miss, then have to run again (probably doesn't help that I only have a 5L setup on Puncture and always forget I have to lead moving targets because I suck).

Anyway, after noticing NeverSink suggests in the first post, I decided to give Siege Balista a try in my 5L setup as my single target/omgwtfpoe skill and it's been doing well so far. Sheet DPS is actually almost as high as TS, although of course in practice it's not nearly that good as it doesn't have 5 explosions after each shot. But in the scenario above, when I'm running away like a pansy, I find it puts out more damage than I could with Puncture (mana also becomes an issue against a single target in that situation, so SB is great for that as well) - plus, the aggro draw is nice.
Where do you see something about Siege Balista in first post? Cant find this and I really wanna check how work siege instead puncture.

Id appreciate it if some-one good with maths could tell me just how much split arrow chain loses with the nerf its easy to workout normally(10-6 arrows is a 40% nerf) but its not so simple when chain and crit are involved.

So i tried Blasphemy with Assasin's Mark. Removed Herald of ash. Quite a great way to keep power charges on and hold dps. So i don't have to carry CWDT anymore (Only of you got golem)

Here's my links
Blood Rage + Vaal Grace + Increased Duration + Faster Casting

CWDT + Ice Golem + Minion Speed + Cold to fire (Or culling strike/iir)

Blasphemy + Assassin's Mark + (Enlighten lvl3 + Increased AOE (only do that if you got enlighten and bigger mana pool))

Hatred and Blink Arrow Alone.

Sitting at 35k dps charges/buffs on

He posts it as a buff under "Is This Build Viable for 2.1?" section:

2) Ballista as a viable single target

Right now, I have it linked to PPAD-SP-FA-P2L and it's at 21k dps unbuffed (TS is around 23k). However, I haven't played with re-rolling any of the colors so it might be able to go higher with a red (AFD)/extra blue (ICD) mixed in there.

I have noticed that the Ballista isn't all that accurate against moving targets which is why I have Faster Attacks in there in hope with more shots, enough will land to do some damage.

This new content was real nice with some of the new - skill tree - keystone placements, etc.

Puncture Trap got even stronger if you take the point blank keystone which is only two nodes away. Its so nice to be able to add another gem to puncture trap and be able to remove the point blank gem and sub in a ICS gem (my choice) and getting a CRIT chance for puncture trap in the 90's (Puncture, PPAD, Trap, Trap and mine damage, slower projectiles & now Increased Critical Strikes). With the buff to point blank and not going down to 0 damage at outer range I have not really noticed issues yet with TS and damage except when close everything is hit much harder. Great for bosses if you even need it after throwing a puncture trap under the boss, etc. Before taking point blank keystone (since I was worried about TS and losing damage at a distance) I was playing around with 2 points going to Entropy and getting the added 37% IDOT yet after trying it out for a bit testing on end content bosses I was not seeing a huge difference so I spec'd out of entropy and grabbed point blank keystone and took my point blank gem out of trap link and as of right now could not have been happier. At least it got me playing again and testing stuff out:

For those that can get used to the mechanics and trap placement skill set do not overlook Puncture/Trap as your single Boss or hard to kill opponent, etc. This patch and the changes they made really put it in better reach with support keystones in range without wasting points to get there on the tree.
