Mirage league is uninteresting

I would just add, in hopes that someone sees this, I hope they figure out a way to fix performance with all of those layered map effects and whatnot.

I don't think there's anything GGG can do to make your PC perform better. I've had 0 issues with max juice on max settings, even with extra workload by playing on a higher resolution.

What they could do is cut down mob density, and heavily reduce player attack speed and cast speed so you don't end up with projectile vomit all over your screen.
But I bet that's also not the PoE you or anyone would want to play.

So it's pretty much a pick your poison situation. get a better PC for better performance, deal with the bad performance, or go for the middle ground and pick a build that isn't all about projectile and full screen explosion vomit. There's no reason to complain about performing when you're effectively in charge to make a change from your side.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Hope you had a good league dude. Craft anything cool?

Hey! nah, not much crafting this league, played alot less than last couple leagues and spent most my time blastin breach. Hit a bunch of indigons with volatile vaals, best 1 was

dropped a mirror though xD What about you?

I love the VV orbs so much.

I almost went into Einhar prison for a jewel but I was already burnt out and when faced with getting all the beasts, I lost interest LOL

Hit some awesome VV orbs on some Foulborn items and got quite lucky with the Foulborn wombgifts, nearly two mirrors from those drops alone in the form of jewels.

I found four raw mirrors with a Breach strategy (2x Wisp, 2x Instability, 1x Bloodlines), so that was nice. Numerous locks. Surprisingly, all of those were found with 6-mod Deli maps, so the loot feels good even at lower IIQ than what I am used to running. All in all, amazing league.

I probably should have crafted something and I might still do so, but it's a lot of work and the league is basically dead at this point so I'm not sure. I do need to login to finish my challenges though.

Dang, 4 is crazy. I've been running risk over 2 wisp, maybe ive ben fkn up

I ran numerous sets of Risk, Resonant Cascade and 2x Wisp. The Wisp returns were noticeably better, far more Sacred Orbs. Although, if you happen to get 2 additional Breaches on the Astrolabe, either Resonant Cascade or Risk would be good in lieu of an additional Instability.

The maps were at least 90% IIQ, with pack size of ~35% & currency of at least 111% OR pack size of ~45% and currency of at least 64%, using either Proliferation or Avarice chisels to equalize the maps to ~45% & ~111% respectively, all 80% to 100% Deli.

Mirage was neither great nor bad, just a matter of player perspective.

The currency printer aspect is good, but the repetitive basegame+ grind was not fun at all.

i agree.

objectively mirage only randomly doubles whatever encounter you get in the map.

i do like that it juices up the map a little and i do like how the choices it gives no matter how small it may seem. it can make the map a little more fun, a little more rewarding.

i have what? 30 black baryas sleeping in my stash which i plan to run before league end.

i LIKE what mirage gives. but if we're being honest "interesting" is not what i'd describe the mechanic. its not a bad thing either. its rewarding enough that i appreciate it.

if i m being honest. this game has over 10 years worth of mechanics. its ok not to have all of them bangers.

sure, if you want to argue the definition of 'interesting', I would argue that juice=good interesting.

Example: I am always 'interested' in the wish that the mirage is going to give me, hoping for a currency bonus, or a barya. I am always interested to see how many breaches the mirage will contain, hoping for 3 or more. This is the kind of interesting that we want.

I assume you are arguing that interesting means more like unique mechanics or something. However, from a mapping perspective, that generally turns out to be bad interesting for alot of people, as it slows down maps or forces interactions they dont find rewarding or fun.

"We"? You mean that's what you want.

With a player base as diverse as PoE's, it's impossible to pretend that one person's preferences represent everyone else's. Your definition of what qualifies as "interesting" content, namely squeezing as much div/h out of a map as possible, is just one perspective among many, not some universal standard the entire community shares.

Some players would enjoy league mechanics that take them outside of mapping altogether, such as Delve, Heist, Sanctum or Expedition. Others would enjoy crafting-focused content such as Crucible, Necropolis or Harvest. Some would be happy with anything genuinely new that doesn't revolve around revisiting old systems for the 15th time. And then there are players who treat every league like an economic spreadsheet where enjoyment is measured exclusively in currency per hour.

Personally, I'd love to see GGG revisit ideas closer to Synthesis. That would be interesting to me. Running Breach for the 12000th time after the previous league was already all centered around it, simply because Mirage happened to synergize well with the currency output, is not what I would call interesting gameplay. That's just another round of players chasing whatever happens to be the most profitable option available, not the most exciting option.

So keep your idea of fun to yourself if you want, but don't generalize it as everyone else's. The fact that this entire discussion contains so many different opinions already proves that the community isn't some unified hive mind. What you find enjoyable, what I find enjoyable, and what countless other players find enjoyable can be completely different, and none of them speak for "we."

And if we're going to start speaking on behalf of "we", then it's also worth mentioning that a large portion of that same "we" quit Mirage relatively early because they didn't find it particularly interesting in the first place. We don't know the exact reasons why those players left, but one can reasonably assume that the league failed to hold their interest. If the majority had genuinely found it as compelling as you're suggesting, they likely would have stuck around for longer than a few days instead of leaving almost immediately after launch.

Something tells us it wasn’t quite as obvious, so the obvious had to be said. I’m not sure who’s actually mad here, the players open-minded about the league mechanic being overall not interesting, or the one player feeling offended by others disliking it. Big thonk.
