Ground loot still sucks

What kind of psychopath actually wants to pick up a bunch of rares off the ground?

The ones who want to play an ARPG, unless we're not playing an ARPG, because we are not.

Rares on the ground do not make an ARPG an ARPG.

ARPG = Action Role-Playing Game

The thing which separates ARPGs from other RPGs is right there in the name: Action

Standing around looking at modifiers on rares you picked up off the ground is the opposite of action.

Killing a bunch of shit and quickly picking up stackable currency drops and moving on is action.

It's the other games in the genre that do it wrong.
PSA: Saying what the Templars and those in their employ did to the Karui, as seen and mentioned throughout the actual game, is apparently forbidden. Do NOT discuss in-game events or lore, or pass any kind of value judgments on in-game characters or their actions.

Tell me the games which are doing it way better and im out as fast as I can.

So much bugs after 13 years is a clear sign for me to leave at least poe 1, while watching how poe 2 goes.

last epoch does ground loot better than POE but only until endgame.

during campaign the experience a player has is quite a liberating one where you dont feel like you're on extremely limited resources. you would actually craft your own gear. there would be some failures but you're given enough crafting gear that you dont feel too bad.

the crafting currencies are quite generous so you actually feel like you should craft and not hoard too much.

its a really good "ground loot" and crafting experience. but it all falls apart at the very end game where min maxing would become frustrating. finding a good item base becomes a huge hassle. players end up having a ton of crafting materials with no bases to craft onto, where crafting bases would be like poe's influenced item with 2 specific influenced mods.

its such a shame that it is that way. i always praised LE's experience being superior to POE but once it gets to end game it all just crumbles and inverts where it becomes easier to min max in POE compared to LE.

another game of note is Undecember. its a P2W game that is heavily inspired by POE. the crafting drop are really generous. i would say its like playing poe but with LE droprate. players feel encouraged to craft in that game.

the problem with undecember tho is despite being generous on materials. if youre trying to min max, the amount of materials needed is absurd. tho i would say its still easier to min max in undecember than poe. so why am i not playing undecember? POE simply is better and undecember is heavily p2w. i calculated, getting a "max" skill gem would take 2-3 months of me doing dailies, unless i got lucky. i could grind it out OR throw cash at the devs and instantly max my skill gem.

no thanks.

a third game with better ground loot is torchlight infinite. i would be playing that game but it's p2wness is too obscene that it disgusts me. i originally turned a blind eye and actually did enjoy the game. but it gnaws at me little by little until it became a festering wound i could not ignore.

currently i am playing titan quest 2. it doesnt have any proper crafting. the drops are not as exciting as poe, but it doesnt need to be. i usually dont have everything i want while leveling, but that keeps me going. sometimes i get lucky, sometimes i dont but i never feel like the drops are always shit. being a predominantly single player game, i feel that the drops are generous "enough". but its not a fair comparison as tq2 is not a zoomy game with an end game where you fight an uber uber pinnacle boss. you're not required to follow a build guide.
